Color Challenge- TGIF #32

Color Challenge, TGIF, Stampin' Up!

Happy TGIF friends. Happy Color Challenge day!

It’s a GREAT day for a fun new challenge from the TGIF blog.  Yay! Yay!  This one is awesome and my kind of Christmas colors.  These remind me of a very vintage Christmas.  Pool Party and Real Red… what do you think? I’m pretty sure it’s one of the reasons I fell in love with the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper this year as well.

For this challenge I decided to bring out one of my favorite sets- Snow Place.  A set that can make you feel like a kid again because you can dress up these great snowmen.  Also, you will see a helpful picture tutorial below when creating this card using the Little Letter Framelits making this card easy to create.

The Little Letters Thinlits are perfection when it comes to using them on cards or smaller projects.  Each letter is only 3/4″ high and the framelits come with all of the letters.

Behind the letters you will notice a piece of Typeset Designer Series Paper that is the same size as the Whisper White cardstock and sponged with Pool Party ink.  The snowflake from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set was White Embossed onto the Typeset Designer Series Paper.  I love how you can see the snowflake peeking through the letters.  Especially with Mr. Dapper Dan Snowman sitting next to it.

Quick Tips & Tricks

When I started creating this card one of the hardest things was getting the letters lined up each time onto the Big Shot and the letters not moving around.  Just so happened I had Washi Tape sitting right next to my Big Shot.

Once I lined up each of the letters I placed a strip of Washi Tape across the letters to keep them in place.  Occasionally you will notice when using the Magnetic Plate for your Big Shot that the Framelits might shift upon placing them down.  This happens over time and usage.  By taping the letters together you will decrease the chances of any shifting.

Why Washi Tape? It’s very forgiving. You can peel the Washi Tape up and your cardstock will not tear.  Please note, I first tried this technique using the Thick Whisper White cardstock.  This cardstock is not as smooth as our regular Whisper White.  The Washi Tape was not as forgiving with the Thick Whisper White cardstock.

By placing the Real Red cardstock behind the letters diagonally it made the word SNOW stand out even more.

I may not be seeing snow here in Florida however I’m lucky I get to play with the Snow Place stamp set and make my own snow using the Little Letter Framelits.
