All my good intentions seem to have been hijacked over the last few months. Honestly, just as my dear friend Amy was finishing up my website and making it look so beautiful, a black cloud descended and all hell broke loose. The lesson learned- my time is NOT my time and the only control I have is ME. My desire is to create something every day; however, often that looks like a hot mess. Creating at times looks like coloring one simple image and then hitting the bed after a day of work. Anyone relate? LOL!
Seriously, October will go down as one of the most memorable months Russ and I’ve had in a long time and I’m pretty sure a movie could be made from the drama. A quick recap sounds like this: A few NOT so nice humans decided they would steal our camper and two classic cars from our property. Our property was separate from our home, about a mile away. Russ loves classic cars and loves taking the time to restore them. Restoration work is his hobby, while paper crafting is mine. We were pretty devastated by the outrageous act, but perspective is key- we are alive and well.
After a two week departure, our local police and investigators recovered our vehicles, but no camper. We’re pretty certain drugs were the main motivation to steal as they left a few prized possessions. I can only imagine a Walter White (Breaking Bad) scenario continues as our precious camper has not been found. I’m most saddened by the materials in our camper, which has zero meaning to them, but everything to us. I had precious silverware from my grandmother and a very special quilt I no longer have. Russ has precious tools and a massive Star Wars collection gone! Again, all materials, but none the less, gone! We continue to comply with the investigation and our hope is justice be served to the bad humans. I’ll keep you posted.
I should add, true crime has always been intriguing but adds a different perspective when you are the survivor of the said crime. Perspective is key!
Let’s Talk Apples!
I loved creating with this adorable bundle from Catherine Pooler Designs, A Bushel and a Peck. Not only are the stamps adorable and perfect for the fall season, the paper pack is delicious too! One of my loves of Catherine Pooler Designs are her fonts in stamp sets. They stamp beautiful and crisp!
Quick Tip: Use Die Cuts as a Quick Layer!
To add more interest to my card, I decided to cut several of the apple die cuts using Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb cardstock to my 3.5 x 3.5 card front panel. I added splatter using Samba Ink along with the Gansai Bambi Starry Colors to bring out some gold hues. Another favorite layering addition is adding a scallop edge to the tag with a peek of a doily showing through. Honestly, THIS tag die from Catherine Pooler has become one of my absolute favorite dies to use.
Slowly I’m finding my way back to some of my favorite additions to card making. One of my favorite additions has always been layering paper with beautiful stamped images. This card made me squeal a bit after putting all the elements together. I felt like the old papercrafting Kimberly was back at it. It’s only been 7 months… but it’s progress. It takes time for that creative muscle to get back to work. Most of all, I’m thankful you stopped by to take a peek and share in my excitement!

So glad the cars were recovered! Hope the same happens with the camper. And this card is truly amazing! I love all the layers! I am so happy to see you back at it. LOVE YOU!
So lovely to see you back and paper crafting, i used to get such inspiration from you
SOoooo happy you are back! May I ask what you love about Catherine Pooler inks? I’m looking for a new source of ink pads and re-inkers.
Praise God you got the cars back and may it be His will that the camper is returned, also.
loved your cards. so glad you are back.
So happy to see you stamping again, I’ve loved your style for years!
The return of the cars is wonderful news, be patient on the rest, you know our great Lord has a plan, maybe not yours ?
P.S. We made it to our Florida Home Sweet Home.
Sorry to hear the camper is still missing. I have missed seeing your beautiful creations.
Hi Nicole! First, thanks for taking the time to come and read my blog. I appreciate you. One of the great things I love about Catherine Pooler inks is the saturation of color, along with the WIDE variety of color. I also love foam pads, though I do enjoy fabric ink pads as well. One favorite technique I use a lot with Catherine’s inks is creating my own cardstock colors. I can simply swipe the ink on white cardstock and everything coordinates, along with saving money on purchasing colored cardstock. Lastly, the ease of the ink pads are SUPER easy to open and they are light as a feather. I hope this helps.
Thank you, Alison. It’s great to be crafting again. It totally fills my cup everyday!
Ilina, just know your continued encouragement has been instrumental to my comeback. I appreciate you more than you know. Love you right back!!
Thank you, Deb. It’s great to be back at it. Now to find a consistent rhythm. Of course a few things happened in October that kept me away. LOL.
Jo, first- welcome to Florida!!! I’m so happy you are here and getting settled. We’ll have to plan a coffee day! Yes, this is all in the Lord’s hands. He reminds us daily. LOL. It will all work out for the greater good.
It’s been a hot mess, Deanna- BUT- we are moving forward. It will all work out. Thank you so much for stopping in to read my blog. It feels great to get inky and chatty again. Just need to find the rhythm to get back at it consistently. I appreciate you.
Welcome back to the world of stamping! I’m so sorry for the disasters you experienced in October. I look forward to being inspired by your creativity once again.
