Big Top Birthday

Big Top Birthday

I’m always in need of birthday cards, and today I have five fun birthday cards to share.  You may even feel like you are celebrating a big top birthday with these cards with the fun circus theme.

Cupcakes & Carousels Suite

One of the eye-catching suites in the Occasions catalog for me is the Cupcakes & Carousels Suite.  I love the vintage vibe the designer paper has, and the stamp set Carousel Birthday has fonts I adored.

Today I want to share five cards using this suite that is quick and easy to duplicate.

Mixing Pattern Paper

Don’t be afraid to mix the designer papers together.  One of the greatest things about the 6 x 6 Cupcakes & Carousels Designer Series Paper Pack is the coordinating colors and fun patterns.

Big Top Birthday, Stampin' Up!, Carousel Birthday

Early Espresso has always been a favorite color of mine, and I love this color paired with pinks or blue tones.  Bringing all of these colors together was even better.

Quick Tip: Try fussy cutting the carousel horse to add a more dramatic look to the focal point.  Attach the carousel horse to the card front using dimensionals for a 3D appeal.

Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit

The Cupcakes & Carousels Embellishment Kit has a variety of fun elements to add to cards including tassels, bows, twine and sequins.  My favorite from this kit are the gorgeous labels with gold highlights around the filigrees.

Big Top Birthday, Stampin' Up!, Carousel Birthday

Quick Tip: VersaMark Ink is perfect to add a tone on tone to your Kraft cardstock.  I love how the carousel image quietly sits in the back of the pattern papers, and the focus can be on the greeting with the label.

Cupcakes & Birthdays

I love cupcakes and carousels, so when the two are combined, it’s perfection.

Big Top Birthday, Stampin' Up!, Carousel Birthday

Quick Tip: Stamp the Carousel onto Very Vanilla cardstock using Flirty Flamingo ink, then die cut using the Layering Circles Dies.  Attach the circle die cut over another stamped carousel to create a more dramatic look.  Once again, VersaMark was used to stamp the carousel onto the Flirty Flamingo cardstock.

Bold & Bright

While many of the papers are more subtle tones in the Cupcakes & Carousels paper pack, a few of the colors will coordinate with more of the Brights Collection.

I love how the big top tent looks stamped in Real Red.

Love Everywhere-Spread Kindness

Love Everywhere-Spread Kindness

Every year around this time frame as I share Valentines love I can’t help but think of our ability to share love and kindness all through the year.

It reminds me of why I’m a paper crafter.  Love is everywhere and as paper crafters, we can spread kindness ALL year long.

Isn’t that exciting?

Today I have a fantastic project that is perfect to spread love and kindness.  Even better, a blog hop with my Creation Station friends to share more love.  Love is everywhere.

Perfect Chocolate Box

I was browsing Pinterest trying to get some inspiration for a “love” project.  I love to create treat boxes for valentines so that was on my list to hunt.  The box was originally created by a UK demonstrator named Ann Melvin.

Then I created a fun card to go with the boxes.  Chocolate and a card… YES!

Let’s Create!

Spread Kindness, Valentines, Stampin' Up!

This box is super easy to create.  Below you will find a simple template that’s easy to follow and grab the following supplies!

  • Early Espresso cardstock 10″ x 7-1/2″.
  • Designer Series Paper 1″ x 9-1/2
  • Embellishments of your choice.
  • You will see a complete list of what I used for this project in my tips & tricks and at the bottom of the post in clickable links.

Spread Kindness, Valentines, Stampin' Up!

This box opens up so you can place a few chocolates inside or even a few love notes.

Spread Kindness, Valentines, Stampin' Up!

Tips & Tricks

Here is a simple template you can follow to create the box.

Spread Kindness, Valentines, Stampin' Up!

  • The scribbled black lines are areas you will CUT out.
  • Make sure you score each fold very well.  This makes a box nice and crisp.
  • I added an extra score line on the lid so that the lid would tuck into the box.  You can see this in red on the template.
  • Stamp hearts on the box front using the Sealed with Love stamp set and Early Espresso ink.
  • The belly band was created using the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper.

Spread Kindness, Valentines, Stampin' Up!

  • Die cut the heart using the Sweet & Sassy Framelits using Watermelon Wonder cardstock.  Then Texture emboss the heart die cut using the Falling Petals Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.
  • The Lace Doilies in the Occasions catalog on page 51 are delicate and perfect for any project.  I simply added underneath the belly band.
  • Lastly, die cut the word Love using the Sunshine Wishes Thinlits and add to the heart using a few Mini Glue Dots.

Spread Kindness in the Mail

Spread Kindness, Valentines, Stampin' Up!

I couldn’t help but create a card using the same theme as the box.  Let us not forget that sending love in the mail is the BEST.  We need to send more of it.

Be Inspired

One last thing before I go, I was so inspired by the holiday season because of random acts of kindness.  Not once, but TWICE I was in the Starbucks drive thru and my drink order was paid for by the person in front of me.  Honestly, it blew me away.  It’s only happened once before in my life.  This inspired me to keep the random act of kindness continuing.  It feels SO good.

While the holidays may be over, let’s continue to spread the love and continue to spread kindness.  Think big and the entire YEAR, not just Valentines.

Now be inspired by the other great designers from the Creation Station Team.

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts

Do you need a quick and simple Halloween party idea?

Today I’m sharing a simple Halloween card and fun treat bag.

You will just die over the cuteness the Jar of Haunts creates with the Everyday Jar Framelits.

Another huge bonus…

Today is a fantastic blog hop with the Creation Station…. our theme is “To Die For!”

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts, Stampin' Up!

Creating a Mesh for Mr. Mummy!

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts, Stampin' Up!

This mummy image in the Jar of Haunts is definitely a favorite for many.

I had a fleeting idea to create mesh background to coordinate with the mummy.

This was a simple task using Stampin’ Up!’s Ghoulish Grunge stamp set.

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts, Stampin' Up!

Create It!

To create the layered mesh background for the mummies to layer onto, follow these steps:

  • Begin by stamping the mesh background image onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock that measures (3-1/2 x 4-3/4) using Sahara Sand ink.
  • Tear cardstock into 4-5 strips.  Crumble and fold each of the strips of cardstock into your hands until they are a ball.
  • In addition, unfold each strip, sponge Sahara Sand ink over each of the strips to add emphasis to the wrinkles in the paper.
  • Layer and overlap each of the cardstock strips onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3-1/2 x 4-3/4 using dimensionals.  Leave a small amount of the Whisper White cardstock showing at the top and do not adhere the top layer completely.

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts, Stampin' Up!

  • Layer the Whisper White cardstock onto Sahara Sand cardstock measuring 3-5/8 x 4-7/8 using Fast Fuse Adhesive.
  • Wrap a piece of Very Vanilla Thick Bakers Twine around the layers, tie in a knot and then another knot towards the bottom. Tip: Separate the Thick Bakers Twine so the twine is not as bulky around the card.
  • Using dimensionals, add this layer to a piece of Sahara Sand cardstock 3-3/4 x 5.
  • Create tag for the top of the card by die cutting a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Tags & Labels Framelits.  Sponge ink over the entire tag using Delightful Dijon ink.  Stamp happy halloween at the top of the tag using the Spooky Fun stamp set.  Place the tag behind the top layer of mesh using Fast Fuse Adhesive.

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts, Stampin' Up!

Add the Finishing Touches

  • Stamp mummy images using Archival Black ink onto Watercolor Paper and Sahara Sand cardstock.  Die cut images using Everyday Jar Framelits.  Watercolor the image on Watercolor Paper using Sahara Sand ink and an Aqua Painter.  Attach to the card front.  Add googlie eyes to mummies.
  • Finally, attach card front to Sahara Sand cardstock 4 x 5-1/4.  Layer onto Whisper white cardstock base  4-1/4 x 11.
  • Optional: add a little splatter to the card.  These mummy’s might be cute, but they need to be a little dirty.

Create a Coordinating Halloween Treat

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts, Stampin' Up!

In addition create a Halloween party idea using die cuts that can be quick and simple.

Stampin’ Up!’s Gusseted Cellophane Bags measure 3 x 6 and they are food safe.

By adding a simple tag topper using the largest die from the Lots of  Labels Framelits you can have a quick halloween treat in minutes.

Halloween Party Idea Using Die Cuts, Stampin' Up!

Lastly, a simple treat added to the Gusseted Cellophane Bag completes this halloween party favor.

If you are in a crunch to create a fun halloween party idea, remember that die cuts can simplify your creating time with the Big Shot.  Choose a die cut that’s versatile and you will get more mileage from its use and create fun treats at the same time.  WIN!

Four Halloween Products- Which Are Your Favorites?

Halloween Favorites

Halloween is around the corner and I’m sharing my favorites today!

From years past if you look around this time of year on my blog you will see Halloween gets a heavy dose of love.

Halloween has always been a favorite holiday for me to create.

Why Halloween?

Of course when I tell people that Halloween is one of my favorites some people look at me like I’m crazy.

Why in the world?

Halloween is perfectly inline with my beliefs about creativity.  I love watching little ones creatively use their minds to dress up and  use their imagination. That’s it.  Nothing spooky about it… just pure CREATIVITY.

It’s exactly what I do when I create with paper.  I get to dress the card up and use my imagination.

Halloween images are cute, even though they have the spooky tendency.  Personally I do not see anything FOR REALZ spooky in a Halloween stamp.

Truthfully, they are spooky adorable.    The spooky tree is not going to give me any nightmares and though I’m not a fan of any bat, the bat images are SO adorable.

Four Favorite Halloween Products

Below are four of my favorite Halloween products this year.

You will notice that one is not considered a Halloween product.  It’s an everyday (all kinds of uses) product, however its PERFECT for Halloween.

Halloween Favorites, Stampin' Up!

I’ve placed all of my favorites on this one Halloween card to show you how quick and easy you can create a fun Halloween scene.

In general, these are my four favorite Halloween products today…. tomorrow is a different story.

  • Halloween Scares stamp set
  • Spooky Fun Photopolymer stamp set
  • Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies
  • Lots of Labels Framelits Dies

Halloween Favorites, Stampin' Up!

The Halloween Scares stamp set let’s you create a fun halloween scene.  When paired with the Spooky Fun stamp set, you not only have fun Halloween images, but now you can use the Halloween greetings.

The Halloween Scenes Edgelits Dies create a fun addition to your Halloween card and the not so spooky tree is one of my favorite.s

Halloween Favorites, Stampin' Up!

The true favorite and most widely used of the Halloween favorite bunch is not even a Halloween related product.

The Lots of Labels Framelits Dies creates the perfect tombstone.  You could make your own graveyard with all the different sizes available.

I loved how I could die cut the smallest framelit to create a tiny tombstone for this card.

Halloween Favorites, Stampin' Up!

Another favorite about the Spooky Fun Halloween stamp set is the fonts used.  I love how slender they are.  Making it easy to add the greeting to a banner.

Let’s not forget the cutest one of all… “eek!” That little greeting cracks me up!!

Quick Tips:

  • The splatter was created using an Aqua Painter and Perfect Plum Ink.  Simply load the Aqua Painter with ink, tap over images using bone folder.
  • The moon was stamped and then gently sponged over the image using a sponge dauber and Delightful Dijon ink.
  • Attach the tree die cut image using Mini Glue Dots.

Which are Your Favorites?

I realize this holiday (if we can even call it that) is not a fan favorite for all, but I hope I could give you a little inspiration on a few favorites of my own and why this spooky celebration ignites my imagination and creativity.

What are your favorite Halloween images? Do you have a favorite product this year? OR… do you think I’ve fallen off the pumpkin truck?

Regardless, I would love to hear from you.

Creative Housekeeping

No, I don’t have anything creative to keeping a good clean house… but I do have some great deals and of course some promotions I don’t want you to miss out on.

Life is Precious-Love it!

Life is Precious-Love it!

Life… Love it.

Love this Life, Enjoy the Little Things, Stampin' Up!

Sometimes that’s a hard pill to swallow- love this life!

I love when we can take a piece of paper and create something to lift up the spirits of another human being.

Enjoy the Little Things

Today’s NEW favorite stamp set should be on every paper crafters stamp table- Enjoy the Little Things.

This stamp set actually coordinates with a fantastic kit that would make a great addition to anyones home, but the stamp set speaks VOLUMES to me.

Enjoy the Little Things, Stampin' Up!

Below is the kit that coordinates with the stamp set.  Look at this amazing kit!  All of these pieces below fit onto a clip board that comes with the kit.

You can find the kit in your Occasions catalog on page 33.  It’s jam packed with products.

Of course you can use the stamp set to make SO many great projects like this one below.

I loved using this set with the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Die and Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit.

Love this Life, Enjoy the Little Things, Stampin' Up!

Tips & Tricks

  • Use the Precision Base Plate and the Magnetic Plate together when using the Blooming’ Heart Thinlits Die.  This helps to cut this intricate die MUCH better easier.  I know that typically we say to not use the Magnetic Plate with the Precision Plate, but for this particular die cut- it works better.
  • If you are die cutting Glimmer Paper, place the die cut so it will cut through the back of the glimmer paper making it easier to die cut.
  • The Big Shot Die Brush can be your new BFF (Bigshot Friend Forever) when using intricate dies.
  • Use the Fine-Tip Glue pen to adhere this die cut onto your cardstock.  It’s perfection when trying to get into the small areas.

I love the “faux” embossed look this card has by placing the Whisper White die cut onto Whisper White cardstock.  Ewwwww Weeeee I love it.

The last thing I added was the trinkets from the Love Blossoms Embellishment Kit.  The Acrylic dots- SWOON!

Love this Life, Enjoy the Little Things, Stampin' Up!

Love this life!  We know that there can be dark days and there are many people around us dealing with hard times.  Lift the spirits of others by sending the paper hug.  This set is PERFECT. Be Brave. Enjoy the little things. Dream Big and let’s not forget to celebrate the joys.

Have an AWESOME weekend, you are loved.
