CAS Challenge Card- Hooray

CAS Challenge Card- Hooray

This week I thought I would pay along with a challenge over on Splitcoast Stampers.  Something I haven’t done in a VERY VERY long.  Ummm…. like years.

I was intrigued with the CAS idea – (Clean and Simple) so I went for it.

It’s a challenge for a reason, right? Clean and simple should be pretty darn easy.

Here is my problem.  It’s the simple part.  I think this has been a problem my entire life.  LOL.  I’m not SIMPLE.  I want to continuously add more drama to the equation.

So I did.

It’s gets better.  I think I used a Retired stamp because I can’t find it anywhere in my Online Store.  <shoot!>

I used the Hearts and Stars Decorative Mask to create the stars on the Crumb Cake cardstock using Whisper White Craft Ink.  This is one of my favorite looks- White on Crumb Cake.

I die cut the star after using the mask on the Crumb Cake and then used then popped the star up over where I die cut it.  I added a few layers with burlap and a tea lace doily directly under the star. I used the Yee-Haw stamp set to add more stars and again used the Decorative Mask to add more stars using Tip Top Taupe ink.

I sponged around the edges of the stars which if I had to do it all over again I wouldn’t have sponged so much.  I did get a little carry away.  Ironically I used the Tip Top Taupe ink and it gave it a very burnished look with the sponge. I didn’t expect that as I thought the ink was a bit lighter.

Once again, I’m simple challenged but I think the card turned out just fine.   One other little detail I added was a Wink of Stella Gold Brush along the edges of the stars.  This is similar to an Aqua Painter but has a Gold ink.  I loved the way this made the star sparkle.

You can play along with this challenge.  Just head over to Splitcoast Stampers and check out the fun challenges they have.  It definitely can get the creative juices flowing.

  1. Love this card! What a great use of the stars stencil! I never thought to do that. I’m also loving my Wink of Stella right now and hopefully Stampin Up comes out with something similar.

  2. Beautiful card, I love how you always add layers of goodies. Your cards are always on point 🙂
