Creation Station- Something New!

Creation Station- Something New!

Creation Station…something new I’ve dipped my hands into and I think you will love the creative sparks that come from it.

You know I’m always up for something new and exciting.  I was asked to be a part of the Creation Station- a Global once a month blog hop team and thought, WHY NOT?

November, Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

First, Happy November!  This is my favorite month.  It’s my birthday month, thanksgiving AND my bestie is coming into town to craft like a manic with me.  OH MY WORD… hang on to your pants.  It’s going to be FUN!

This month for the Creation Station the theme is “thankful” and we’re using the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set and Washi Tape.  I didn’t feel the sting of the challenge until they said Washi.

WHAT? You want me to use my beloved, hoarded WASHI Tape? Oh dear…

Do you hoard Washi Tape like I do? This could possibly be worse than my Designer Paper hoarding issue.  I have baskets, drawers and this cool looking ring thing-a-ma-bob that holds my Washi Tape.  I have a Washi problem.  Here is the bigger problem… sometimes I am stuck because I’m not sure how to use it.

You might remember last Friday I did a cool trick with my Washi Tape for THIS card…

That’s really once in a blue moon that I come up with a cool idea using the Washi.  Otherwise, I’m pretty BORING with my Washi Tape.

For instance… let’s talk about todays card.

I knew when I started to design this card I wanted to use Vellum and Gold.  I love that combination.  The tricky part about Vellum is getting it to stick and not seeing the adhesive.  I took the easy way out (not unusual for this lazy stamper) and did a quick straight stitch down the center of the leaves.  You can see I added a bit of color to make the leaves stand out a little more.

I wanted to use a different “thanks” so I used the Cottage Greetings stamp set for this greeting.

You can see how I laid three different pieces of the Washi Tape behind the leaves.  Simple Dimple and gives the card  dimension and a great background.

You can find all the supplies for this card at the end of this post.

Now get ready to take a tour and see what the other team created using this stamp set and Washi.  I’ll bring my notepad to take notes on this hop.  I’m sure I’m going to learn a thing or two about Washi Tape.

  1. So very pretty Kimberly!!! Love it..and yes..I have tons of washi tape..think I’ll try several different color combos!!! Tfs!

  2. Hi Kimberly, Love your card! I can relate to the washi hoarding. You are doing some amazing things with it though! I see you use that beautiful gold thread a lot. Is it just regular sewing thread? It looks like it matches the vellum and also the gold embossing on one of your other cards!

  3. Thank you girlfriend. It’s the Gold Thread in the Main Catalog on page 159 called Metallic Thread. #138401. I love it. It’s very thin, but looks good on just about any project you do.

  4. As a fellow washi hoarder I totally understand how hard it is to actually USE it! I love the vellum overlays and think your card was so lovely and creative! Nicole 🙂

  5. Love the gold embossing! So beautiful – you can’t go too wrong with embossing! I like how you put the solid leaves behind each of the vellum leaves. Simply beautiful!!

  6. I LOVE this card! Your stuff is always so gorgeous, Kimberly 🙂 Did you thread your machine with the gold thread?? Inspired! Must get my machine out more often… Love from a fellow hoarder of washi 😉

  7. Thank you my friend. If I showed you a picture of my washi stash you would wet your britches from laughter. Just sayin’. I am the WORST. EEK.

  8. Love, love, love!! Buoy always have amazing projects and as always, I’m inspired!! So thankful to have you in our blog hop–you are a fabulous addition!!

  9. Oh man when I grow up I want to make cards just like you! You make such stunning creations that have a fresh and forward vibe!!! You’re amazing. Smiles, Elizabeth
