Sheltering Tree- Road Block!
Have you ever owned a stamp set, pulled it out a dozen or more times, stamped it a gazillion times, threw it all in the trash and wondered if this stamp set was your enemy?
Well, I’m all about confessing everything about me so I thought I would share my road blocks that I have with the stamp set Sheltering Tree.
Honestly, we do not have a love affair AT ALL.
Tonight one of my team members made a beautiful card with a Sheltering Tree and I thought to myself for the 500th time, WOW… I should pull that set out again and make something.
<banging head> This set does NOT like me, but I LOVE a challenge.
After numerous attempts to come up with something remotely fun, which many attempts landed in the trashola, I DID IT.
This is a lesson for me and hopefully for you. Â When you are in a creative rut, don’t give up! Â In fact, I’m going to tell you a secret on how to conquer the road block today.
The Secret….
I decided to take a look at past cards I had created. Â Maybe there was something that could give me a little nudge of inspiration. Â I was right. Â It was something right in front on me. Â A card that was one of my favorites from Sale-a-Bration this past year. Â Click HERE and you can see it.
It was that card that started the wheels turning and I felt like I could maybe get something accomplished with the Sheltering Tree stamp set. Â Even though my other sample had nothing to do with a tree, it was the sketch that led me in the direction I wanted to go. Â In the end, neither card look alike.
There you have it! If you have a stamp set that gives you a hissy fit, go back and look at your own projects for inspiration.
Here’s another secret… I *think* I just fell in love with Sheltering Tree. Â We still need to go on a few more stamp dates, but I can see us going places.
Hidden Mistake-
This has to be one of my favorite things about stamping, hiding mistakes.
As I was knee deep in stamping this tree and getting all my little leaves perfectly around the branches I decided I wanted to use a Circle Framelit to die cut the focal point. Â Well, I kinda missed the bottom a bit. Â Total straight edge and the thought of stamping it again made me cringe. Â This is when layering different products comes in VERY handy. Â My mistake is hidden and the layers ended up making me quite happy.
While this stamp set Sheltering Tree caused a bit of anxiety in the beginning I am SO thankful I decided to move forward with it. Â I challenge you to do the same with a stamp set that gives you the same feeling. Â Bust through the road block and take on a challenge- with yourself. Make sure to click to see the details on this stamp set HERE.

Lastly, let’s remember WHY we create fun beautiful things. Not just because it’s good for our soul, or we love the products… because we love to make other people feel GOOD. Â Share your creativity with others and spread the gratitude. Â It’s something so special. Â SO SO special. Â XOXOXO
