Bokeh Technique & Mardi Gras

Bokeh Technique & Mardi Gras

We celebrated big time this weekend!  It’s a celebration we typically do not celebrate and if I’m honest (which I will be) I’m not sure I understand the entire celebration…. Mardi Gras.

So we’ve never been to a Mardi Gras parade before but decided this weekend we would see what it’s all about.  Let’s just say I caught a few beads!

Bokeh Technique & Mardi GrasI’ve never seen anything like it.  Tons of beads being thrown off floats.  Moon Pies thrown in my face.  Stuffed animals, cups, trinkets… all being thrown.  We each came home with a ton of loot and a TON of beads.  I’m still not sure exactly what we celebrated except we had a great time as a family.  There were a few things I could of NOT seen and let’s just say I had a bit of explaining to do when we got to our car.  This is a BIG party and there are people who will do ANYTHING for beads.  I think Alexis summed it up best… “those girls are disgusting, mom!”  Yes. I’m proud.  Again, it was a fun time.

In other news I have a fun card to share.  Hope to have a video to go with this card SOON. I’m waiting on a piece of equipment to help my video process since I upgraded my phone last month.  Should be in this week and I’ll be in video mode once again.

Bokeh Technique

Typically I don’t do many techniques.  I loved this technique because I love it in photography.  When you can achieve bokeh in a photograph its AWESOME.  How exciting for a card that you can create?

Bokeh Technique, Simply Wonderful
This was a card we created in club this past week.  SO FUN! It’s a pop of color and lots of fun layers.  I love the result.

Bokeh Technique, Simply Wonderful
I’m sure it doesn’t matter how many colors you choose to use but for my card I chose 3.  Coastal Cabana, Hello Honey and Pistachio Pudding.  I love these colors for spring.

Bokeh Technique, Simply Wonderful
You can only see a hint of a new product I used but I have to tell you about.  It’s the Birthday Bash Designer Washi Sheets. It’s a big ole Washi Tape that you can cut, punch, or die cut the way you want.  I love it.  You can see a strip I used under my die cut stars.  It was just a sliver but I loved seeing it through the negative space of the stars.  PERFECT.

The stamp set is the Simply Wonderful stamp set from Sale-a-Bration.  Great fonts are in this perfect greeting set.  I loved this greeting because it’s playful and thankful.  Place an Online Order in my store of $50 and this set can be yours FREE.

I hope your weekend was spectacular.  It’s a long weekend for us thanks to Presidents Day.  For all my northern friends… stay warm. I’ve been thinking of you with all the cold and snow.  YIKES.

XOXOXO

  1. LOVE your Mardi Gras picture…you certainly did collect ‘a few’ strings of beads! Glad you were able to celebrate this wonderful parade and party! Your card is lovely – so many layers and love the Bokeh technique.

  2. Glad you had fun this weekend. Looks like you got a ton of beads. I didn’t know Mardis Gras was celebrated anywhere other than New Orleans! I love your bokeh card. The colors are nice and soft and the white circles just add to it. Will have to try my hand at this! We’ve had some snow up in Canada but not as bad as they’re getting in Eastern Canada. That’s usually what we get! Hopefully we can start thinking about spring soon!
