Love Bug and Weddings!

Love Bug and Weddings!

Oh dear!  Quite possibly I found a stamp set that rocked my world in a crazy way.

I’ve secretly always wanted a bug car.  I think they are the cutest cars ever.  Typically its not so much the body of this car that intrigues me but the colors and of course the added eye lashes that I see people add always make me want it even more.  Yes. That stays between me and you.

I was creating Saturday and had a wedding card on my list of “need to create.”  When I was going through my pile of stamps there were many that stuck out and were easy to use for a wedding card but this couple that is getting married are young and hip.  They needed young and hip.  They needed a bug car.  <grin>

Beautiful Ride

Love Bugs, Beautiful Ride, Stampin' Up!

Can this bug car stamp be any cuter? I love the greetings and the accessories that go along with the this car. The trailing cans was added perfection for this card.

Create It!

This stamp set, Beautiful Ride will be available on January 5th.  I used another stamp set called Timeless Textures that I’ve featured a few other times this month and it’s going to be a MUST HAVE stamp set for your collection.

I stamped the love bug and luggage onto Watercolor paper and then used my Aqua Painter along with inks to watercolor.  Before stamping the “love bug” onto the car door I used my heat tool to make sure the ink was good and dried.  I fussy cut the car and was able to stamp the trailing cans easily before I adhered the car down.  You can see the Timeless Texture images under the car to give the road effect as well as a few splatter areas.

I loved that luggage on top of the love bug.

Love Bugs and Weddings, Beautiful Ride, Stampin' Up! Of course a card is never complete without an envelope.  It was stamped and ready to deliver.

While this set has some time before it’s availability you CAN get your hands on this set if you want.

Christmas Tags & A GiveAway!

Christmas Tags & A GiveAway!

Hello, I’m a procrastinator and it’s time for me to start making my Christmas Tags.  Oh Deer!

Are you behind like I am? It’s not without fail because this happens every year.  Although last year was probably the worst as I was making tags 2 days before Christmas…

I jumped in tonight and was excited to get started on my Christmas Tags because this year I love the Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper.  This vintage loving girl was drawn to it the minute I saw it in the Holiday Catalog.

Christmas Tags, Stampin' Up!, Santa

Quick and Easy to Create!

Over all the Christmas tags were quick and easy.  Just a few layers of cardstock, Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper and vellum. The longest part of these tags will be the fussy cutting of the deer and Santa.

Christmas Tags, Stampin' Up!, Santa

Each tag has 3 main parts and then the rest is layering of a few pieces of cardstock or designer paper.

Each tag measures 3 x 5 1/2. You are not able to see in these photos, but the bottom layer is a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock, then the Music notes paper and then Vellum overlay.  I used the Crumb Cake cardstock for stability.

Once you have your main pieces layered, I did a quick stitch across each one using a Gold Metallic Thread.

To finish the tags I layered them with a Tea Lace Doily and a sliver (that’s a 1/4″) of Red Glimmer Paper.  Of course you can add a deer or a Santa.  Both are sweet as they can be and not hard to fussy cut.

Lastly, I used the Oh, What Fun Photopolymer stamp set for the greetings on the tags.

It’s no secret this season -I’m in love with Vellum! The Winter Wonderland Vellum is stunning.  I’ll be sharing a few more projects tomorrow with this amazing paper.

I hope by being less of a procrastinator I can inspire you to create your Christmas Tags this year.  Not all of my Christmas Tags are fancy.  I’m pretty sure last year it was a plain piece of cardstock with a whole punched at the top.  I am pretty sure my kids were devastated by not having one of my special tags last year….

Important Updates…

Last month I did a GiveAway around my birthday.  It was SO amazing to read all the awesome comments on gratitude.

Well guess what??????

I have another giveaway today!!  The truth is I’m clearing out my room.  You might see a giveaway more frequently… YAY!!

Layered Christmas Tree

Layered Christmas Tree

If you follow me on Instagram I posted over the weekend a fun layered Christmas tree card.

Ya know when you create something and you can’t believe you did it? That’s how I felt about this card.

I’ve been dying to share here but I wanted to create a video so YOU could make it too.

I will warn you.. the video is more of a show than a create.  Creating this card is not hard at all.  It’s just sticky.  Your fingers get a little sticky and that didn’t make it easy to video.

Tips & Tricks

One of the reasons I used the Typeset Designer Series Paper is that it’s a much thinner paper than our other Designer papers.

Creating the loops is easy because the paper is very pliable.

A Fine Tip Glue Pen is the best way to keep the loops intact.

Have a baby wipe handy to keep your hands clean during the gluing.

Chestnuts Roasting…

Chestnuts Roasting…

Happy December!!

Oh dear.  Houston…. we have a problem. The Chestnuts are NOT roasting!

This past weekend I decided to get up in the attic (it was HOT HOT I might add) to pull the Christmas tree down.  It was time to commence the indoor decorations.

With sweat dripping down my back as I sifted through a complete disaster of an attic I managed to find the Christmas decorations.  One by one they came down and into the house.  The kids were over the moon.  This is always a special time in our home.  Typically we would be sipping hot cocoa, listening to Christmas music and putting the ornaments on one by one.

Not this time.

We were dressed in shorts, sweating bullets trying NOT to turn the air back on and each of us had a cold drink.  I couldn’t even sip my beloved coffee I was so hot.  We did manage the Christmas songs playing in the background but every once in awhile a quick glance to the backyard pool was looking better and better.

As I was decorating the tree it hit me that I don’t have a mantel to decorate.  Crazy as this sounds we’ve been in this house 2 years and why didn’t I think of this before?

Maybe because the last two years have been so chaotic I didn’t give it a single thought.  It wasn’t until I pulled out our stockings (all 11 of them -Me, Russ, kids, (2)dogs, cat, (4) guinea pigs…) and noticed I had no where to hang them.  Where did I put them last year?

I remember vaguely when we moved into the house that Russ and I talked briefly about putting a fireplace in. It’s already piped for gas so it wouldn’t be hard.  Then again, as I was sweating bullets the thought of chestnuts roasting on an open fire was definitely not happening.

The only mantel I have to decorate is from my Festive Fireplace stamp set. So that’s what I did.

Festive Fireplace

Chestnuts Roasting, Festive Fireplace, Stampin' Up!

This is the first time I’ve used this set this season.  I have a terrible time when it comes to designing cards with pieces like this.  I was trying to keep from anything freely floating in the air and thought how I would decorate my own mantel.  The fun part about this set is the matching framelits.  The only fussy cutting I did was the actual fireplace which is easy peasy.

I loved the way the brick looks watercolored on the Crumb Cake cardstock.  What do you think? There is something about a watercolored look on Crumb Cake cardstock that I love.

While I may not be roasting chestnuts on the fire, I can assure you I had fun despite it all.

How the Van Deep in Troubles Roll…

A few facts about me comfy in my home…

  • Typically no make up is worn or I sweat it all off
  • Wednesday I have a hair appointment in which I pray the lady gets rid of this GRAY….

Jolly Christmas -I’m Ready!

Jolly Christmas -I’m Ready!

Feeling Jolly yet?

Thanksgiving has now passed and I’m sure I gained about 5 pounds from the amount of pies I consumed.

I was in a food coma about 15 minutes after I sat down to eat and the thought of the clean up made me ill.  I was thankful that my mother was here to help in the kitchen.  She made the task much faster.  It’s a tradition to sit around the living room and browse the Black Friday ad’s trying to find something for us to join all the other crazies to shop with.

Not all of my family enjoys the Black Friday shopping like Russ, my mom and I.  They can only think of the chaotic mess that typically you find the stores.  We do things a bit different.  We typically do not even start until 10am.  This only means I’ve missed the doorbuster sales but who cares.

I did look like a crazy woman in JcPenny’s.  We walked in at 1:25pm.  Ironically we landed around the shoe department.  The area was a DISASTER.  Instantly I felt compelled to help the workers clean up the area.  Shoes and boots were everywhere.  The faces of these workers looked tired but they were smiling. From the looks of the shoe department I’m not even sure I could muster a smile like these wonderful ladies.

It was then I noticed a small sign….

Sale ends at 2pm.

I looked at my watch and we now had 20 minutes to find the correct size boot because they were on sale for $20.

In those 20 minutes, I managed to find my size in the color I wanted without a box. Last minute nelly here had success!!   I made it to the counter with one minute to spare.

After about 6 hours of shopping with my mother and daughter I came home completely POOPED out.

I hit the couch and 4 hours later I woke up.  Then went right back to bed.  I guess I needed a few more winks than I had been getting.

Getting into the Jolly Christmas Mood

Finally I had a minute to stamp.  Even though I should have been putting Christmas decorations up, I opted to clean the house and stamp.

Now I can say I’m in a jolly Christmas mood.  Yippie!!

Jolly Christmas, Winter Wishes, Stampin' Up!

I wanted to use a stamp that has not seen a lot of ink love.  Winter Wishes was the first stamp set that came to mind.  I’ve used this set a few times but not enough.

Jolly Christmas, Winter Wishes, Stampin' Up!

Create It

After stamping three of the main images I fussy cut them and layered them together and attached using an Antique Brad.

I decided to use the Holly Jolly Greetings for the greeting on this card.  Once I stamped all of the word images in Early Espresso I decided to trim them close and layer them onto Cherry Cobbler cardstock.

I gave them each a little spritz with an Aqua Painter and Re-Inker and then used a little Gold Smooch spritz (retired) to glam it up a bit more.

Get this… I also used my Brick Texture Embossing Folder.  Never used…

WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME??? That’s the cutest thing ever.  I have a few other ideas planned for that Brick folder.

You can see all the products I used below.

Feeling Jolly Now

I hope you are feeling as Jolly as I am.  Today I might be jolly enough to put my Christmas trees up.  I know the kids are ready.  Stay tuned.  I’ll share the joy.

Coming Tomorrow!

I’ve been hard at work on something I am SUPER excited about and will be sharing on Monday…. I hope you will stop by to check it out. BIG SQUEALS!!
