Stay Strong & New Challenge

WordArt-StayStrong aqua

Remember on January 1st I chose the word "Strong" for my little word for the year.  Who knew that I would need that word so many times this year.  I'm staying strong.

Before I get to today's normal activities I just have to say a BIG BIG thank you to all of you for the comfort, thoughts and prayers you've given my family.  I've read them all to the kids and Russ and it's brought a big smile to their faces. The kids think it's the coolest thing they have friends they have not physically met and Brandon thinks you are all his best friends. <smile>  Yes, that's YOU!

Today we took FULL advantage of our hotel room and only left to get dinner.  The kids enjoyed the pool, games and talking with friends via Facetime (thankful for that bit of technology!) while Russ and I took full advantage of the BED.  We slept in, slept more and overall rested BIG time.  I know this was the plan and if it wasn't, we enjoyed it anyways.

Now we will wait and see the fate of the big truck and can/will they fix it.  If another night stay is in the cards I guess I can handle it. Whats another night? We have to be in Florida on the 7th to close on our new house.  If that doesn't happen my panties are going to be in a big bunch!!

Let's talk digital for a minute.

I was actually going to bypass the MDS challenge due to the move and being on the road.  Funny thing… I'm not on the road so I had time to play with that too.  Ha.

Today's challenge is a sketch that Heather created and it's super fun.  Sketch's are one of our most popular challenges on our Facebook Simply My Digital Studio group.

My Digital Studio Sketch

Here is my layout using this sketch:

My Digital Studio Challenge, Sketch

If you are new to My Digital Studio or digital scrapbooking a sketch is a GREAT starting point.

For this particular layout I added digital art from my favorite App- Rhonna Designs first (iPhone only).  Once that was complete I saved them to my iphone camera roll and then transfered them to my layout.  I also used these in my Instagram feed.  These three photos pretty much sums up the story of our weekend hotel room.

You can see all the materials used for this layout HERE

Hop on over to see what Heather created using this awesome sketch.  Make sure to join the fun on our Facebook Group- Simply My Digtal Studio Challenges.

P.S. The dog just pee'd on the bed…

Things could be worse… right? Stay strong Kimberly!

  1. Whenever my family and I have these sorts of "adventures", we describe them with a phrase that came out of a Pink Panther movie. "It's all part of life's rich pageant you know." That usually puts a smile on our faces. Hang in there and enjoy the pool!

  2. Did your car make the trip with you?  I am worried about your cat.  Did you have to find a new home for him/her?

  3. I can't stop laughing….so many memories of moving our family with a cat, dog & 2 rats….Car problems, hotel problems etc.

Yes, the dog pooped in the car & then threw up. The rats got out and the cat peed on the pillow right when we got in the hotel room…..OH…the kids got car sick, one had an ear infection ended up in the ER in the middle of no where. At the time it wasn't funny….but we all laugh about it now….

Enjoy the ride to your new adventure.

Sorry to hear about your sweet kitty…That's a tough one..

    Safe travels,

    Susan

    Nothing ever goes as planned

  4. If you were in Canada, you'd be in a holiday Mon., where most 'garages' would be closed; some holidays don't require any prep work…..enjoy what's dished out to you & smile. Enjoy the journey!! (hugs from NB Canada)

  5. My fingers are crossed for you and your family!  Hope your luck turns around.  It's so inspiring to read your positive outlook, even when you're tired and have to deal with all these issues.  Humor is the best cure, and you've got a lot.  Hang in there.

  6. Hope you get all your vehicles up and running and can get to your new home.. sure enjoy reading your blog, and always wonder if others have the same kind of hiccups through life… Get some rest… maybe you and the car can continue on to sign for your house?? Good luck Kimberly, and God speed you on your way!!

I so agree with the comments, and had to giggle with your last comments, how sadly typical of when it rains, it often pours!    Continuing to send best wishes your way and more safe travels…..

  8. Love the page Kimberly! And all it's fun elements.  Especially your sweet puss (okay maybe not so sweet some days :D) looking like there are dreams of home and an air of perseverence going through that furry head.  Or possibly zonked on kitty prozac?   Either way…love the contrast of the activities on either side too.   Lovely that you are able to make lemonade in the midst of madness.   Nice you found such a pleasant oasis in the midst of the storm too.

Life lessons are one of the things I enjoy about your blog.   Hope the rest of the dusty trail is smooth as silk.

  9. Thanks for sharing your adventure story on your blog.  I know how you feel as each new obstacle pops up in front of you and you have to gather your strength and move forward.  I'm replaying a recent journey that I experienced on my blog and I'm almost at the end.  The thoughts that came to my mind once I was home and it was over were – “You know you’re a mother when you ignore your fears, hold back your tears, power through your exhaustion, and overcome all the obstacles put in your way for the sake of your child.” –

at the time I was traveling with only one of my children – you just need to replace child with family and I bet all the same thoughts apply to your journey.  I'm glad you got some rest and I wish you safe travels as you continue this journey.  Wave as you pass through Georgia – I'll be thinking about you!

  10. Wow – What amazing strength you have.  I love that you are turning the "hiccup" into a mini vacation / well needed rest.  Hello to the entire family.  We are all rooting for you!

  11. OH my Lord!!!  What a crazy ride (adventure)…I have to applaud all of you…you're ability to keep it together during all of the chaos!  Bravo my friends…I might have had to throw in the towel…I'm sorry I've missed your blog the last few days…it's like watching the movie "Moneypit"  shere craziness…!!!  The BIG bonus is you'll be surrounded by Family and Friends soon, that alone makes it well worth it…right?

We are animal lovers here, too and my heart hurts just thinking about your recent loss of your kitty cat 🙁  Our dogs are 14-13-5…yep 3 dogs!  When you don't have children of your own they become your children…and when you have them so long 16 years…gulp…it's harder to loose them.  Hugs all around!!!

Good luck reaching your destination for your closing!!  Can't wait to see the new Stampin' Studio!

Happy Trails the rest of your trip….

    Peace,

    Slick
