Stamping Retro Style

I'm not sure if you call it stamping "Retro Style" but this is what I call it.  Honestly, I call it my "Mish Mash" stamping.  A little of this and a little of that.

I just love the Off the Grid stamp set and it's perfect for this style of stamping.  Mixing this stamp with the Wanderlust stamp set was perfect and especially the greeting with my move.  Ha!

Wanderlust, Stampin' Up!

Tip: When using the Photopolymer stamps, I noticed I wasn't getting a crisp image on the larger size images.  I used a pencil eraser and "seasoned" the stamp by rubbing the eraser over the entire image.  Once I did this I cleaned the image and then inked it again.  Much crisper image.  It's also a good idea to have the rubber side looking at you and ink.

Overall this was a simple card to complete.  Stamping retro style is pretty easy.  Just take a few "background" stamps like the Off the Grid image and layer the images.

Unfortunetly I cannot find my catalog to write all the supplies out.  My catalog is "somewhere" in our "do not pack" area.  It's not very pretty in there right now.

The packers started today at 7:45am.  We were scheduled for a 3 day pack out.  This is normal for us because we have a lot of "FUN STUFF!"  It's now 10:30pm and they are STILL packing.  I'm not really happy.  I've never had packers pack all day like this.  I may be making a phone call tomorrow.  Then again, I hate to make anyone mad when they are carrying my "stuff!"

While it's amazing they have packed it all up, we have to stare at it for two days before the big truck comes to take it all away.  Shoot me now.

There is a funny that occured and made it VERY evident we had honest packers.

About 3 months ago Russ had a stash of cash he lost.  Let's just say it was a lot.  Now if you've heard the stories of my darling before you know that losing something is not out of the ordinary.  iPods, iPhones are just a few I could name on his "long gone" list.  His stash of cash missing was the one that put him over the edge.

Since the packers were SO quick, they packed a tool needed for our washing machine before we could get to it.  Russ asked kindly if he could open the two boxes in the laundry room to see if he could find the tool.  As he was looking for the tool, there was the "stash of cash" starring at him.  He couldn't believe it.  How it landed in the laundry room he has no idea.

We were so grateful to the packing lady- Nora that Russ pulled her aside and told her that she helped him find something special and gave her a piece of his stash.

While I may not be happy for the late night packing, these 4 ladies here have worked their tales off.  They are honest and they have taken excellent care of our things.  I'm feeling pretty grateful.  It's been a 16 hour day for them.  Could be longer, they are still here.

Meanwhile the kids are in heaven playing on electronics all day.  Haven't heard a peep from Brandon all day.  He is happy as a clam.

Alexis spent the day with a friend and then needed a little extra love knowing she won't see this friend again.  This is the part of moving that tugs at your heart.  Good-byes are so hard.

I thought I was the MOST organized person when I asked the packers not to pack my coffee, coffee pot and coffe cup.  I forgot to tell them to leave the coffee filters.  Dang it.  So much for organization.  My neighbor's sweet son when to the store for me.

Can you tell I'm gushing with gratefulness? Again, the process of moving is never easy but I'm so grateful for what's to come. It will not be an easy road. It never is.  I do know there is light at the end of this tunnel.  WHOO HOO for that.

  1. Ahh, I love military packers! But the ones overseas take the cake! In Germany they drank beer the whole time they packed us on the truck! Sounds like you have good ones.

  2. I think if I would have offered them beer they would have fallen asleep. It was crazy how long they worked. The good news is today we could chill.
