A New Journey- Babies!
Before you get too excited let me say this is NOT a new journey for me.
Oh no!
Having a baby is definitely a new journey, isn’t it? I know all the mom’s out there are shaking their head YES!
Crafting is a Journey!
I’m chuckling as I write this tonight because this card was such a JOURNEY!
I was cooking up another card with a completely different stamp set and all of a sudden I had an idea.
I pushed all of the other supplies aside and jumped on the idea while it was fresh in my mind. I honestly didn’t need a baby card but when you have an idea you just RUN with it.
The idea started with the Designer Paper- Sweet Li’l Things. My girlfriend Debbie was using it and I was so embarrassed I didn’t recognize the pattern she was using. In fact, I thought she was using paper from another company. When she told me that it was Sweet Li’l Things I looked on my paper shelf and there it SAT. All alone. Dust bunnies growing on it.
The clouds, animals, stars… oh my the cuteness is overload.
As I was building the card and adding the clouds I wanted something other than the typical “baby” greeting. I went on the great search in my stamp collection and immediately the stamp set Beautiful Ride stood out.
My eye was instantly drawn to the greeting “The Journey Begins!”
Tips & Tricks
There are a few helpful tips when creating this card.
- The baby onsie, was die cut using the Baby’s First Framelits Dies using Shimmery Paper. I gently watercolored the die cut using Tangerine Tango ink and an Aqua Painter.
- The Greeting was heat embossed using Basic Black ink and Clear Embossing powder. Then I watercolored over the greeting using Hello Honey Ink and trimmed closely to each of the words using my snips.
- There are strips of Designer Paper under the Vellum square.
- The clouds were punched using the Tree Builder punch. I punched the clouds and then layered two clouds together and sponged over them using Pool Party ink to darken the color. Layering punches is my new favorite thing to do.
The stamp set Beautiful Ride can be used for so many occasions besides weddings and couples. Think about graduation, new job, babies… These are just a few ideas.
