A New Journey- Babies

A New Journey- Babies!

Before you get too excited let me say this is NOT a new journey for me.

Oh no!

Having a baby is definitely a new journey, isn’t it? I know all the mom’s out there are shaking their head YES!

Crafting is a Journey!

I’m chuckling as I write this tonight because this card was such a JOURNEY!

I was cooking  up another card with a completely different stamp set and all of a sudden I had an idea.

I pushed all of the other supplies aside and jumped on the idea while it was fresh in my mind.  I honestly didn’t need a baby card but when you have an idea you just RUN with it.

A Journey Begins, Baby, Stampin' Up!

The idea started with the Designer Paper- Sweet Li’l Things.  My girlfriend Debbie was using it and I was so embarrassed I didn’t recognize the pattern she was using.  In fact, I thought she was using paper from another company.  When she told me that it was Sweet Li’l Things I looked on my paper shelf and there it SAT.  All alone.  Dust bunnies growing on it.

The clouds, animals, stars… oh my the cuteness is overload.

A Journey Begins, Baby, Stampin' Up!

As I was building the card and adding the clouds I wanted something other than the typical “baby” greeting.  I went on the great search in my stamp collection and immediately the stamp set Beautiful Ride stood out.

A Beautiful Ride, Stampin' Up!

My eye was instantly drawn to the greeting “The Journey Begins!”

Tips & Tricks

A Journey Begins, Baby, Stampin' Up!

There are a few helpful tips when creating this card.

  • The baby onsie, was die cut using the Baby’s First Framelits Dies using Shimmery Paper.  I gently watercolored the die cut using Tangerine Tango ink and an Aqua Painter.
  • The Greeting was heat embossed using Basic Black ink and Clear Embossing powder.  Then I watercolored over the greeting using Hello Honey Ink and trimmed closely to each of the words using my snips.
  • There are strips of Designer Paper under the Vellum square.
  • The clouds were punched using the Tree Builder punch.  I punched the clouds and then layered two clouds together and sponged over them using Pool Party ink to darken the color.  Layering punches is my new favorite thing to do.

The stamp set Beautiful Ride can be used for so many occasions besides weddings and couples.  Think about graduation, new job, babies… These are just a few ideas.

Love Bug and Weddings!

Love Bug and Weddings!

Oh dear!  Quite possibly I found a stamp set that rocked my world in a crazy way.

I’ve secretly always wanted a bug car.  I think they are the cutest cars ever.  Typically its not so much the body of this car that intrigues me but the colors and of course the added eye lashes that I see people add always make me want it even more.  Yes. That stays between me and you.

I was creating Saturday and had a wedding card on my list of “need to create.”  When I was going through my pile of stamps there were many that stuck out and were easy to use for a wedding card but this couple that is getting married are young and hip.  They needed young and hip.  They needed a bug car.  <grin>

Beautiful Ride

Love Bugs, Beautiful Ride, Stampin' Up!

Can this bug car stamp be any cuter? I love the greetings and the accessories that go along with the this car. The trailing cans was added perfection for this card.

Create It!

This stamp set, Beautiful Ride will be available on January 5th.  I used another stamp set called Timeless Textures that I’ve featured a few other times this month and it’s going to be a MUST HAVE stamp set for your collection.

I stamped the love bug and luggage onto Watercolor paper and then used my Aqua Painter along with inks to watercolor.  Before stamping the “love bug” onto the car door I used my heat tool to make sure the ink was good and dried.  I fussy cut the car and was able to stamp the trailing cans easily before I adhered the car down.  You can see the Timeless Texture images under the car to give the road effect as well as a few splatter areas.

I loved that luggage on top of the love bug.

Love Bugs and Weddings, Beautiful Ride, Stampin' Up! Of course a card is never complete without an envelope.  It was stamped and ready to deliver.

While this set has some time before it’s availability you CAN get your hands on this set if you want.
