I'm alive, I'm alive.
It's been a busy past couple of weeks and I'm happy to tell you that we are plowing through all fun changes. I was hoping to be further along but this is to be expected due to my impatience.
I spent most of last week running around like a loonie getting the kids caught up to speed for school. I felt like I signed my life away with all the paper work. It's funny how states are so different in what they require.
We had to get physicals for the kiddies and make sure shots were up to date. We all ended up getting the flu shot. Brandon was completely freaked out. The boy does NOT like shots. Seriously terrified. Alexis, the no fear child had her arm out and ready. I didn't even see her get her shot because I was to busy consoling Brandon.
We spent and entire day getting a few new outfits and haircuts so they won't look like a rag a muffin's the first day. They look great, me on the other hand… that is a completely different story. My mom doesn't like to be seen in the grocery store the way I look. Hmm…
As you can see below, they are getting the royal treatment.
The kids had a GREAT first day of school. Despite the fact I sent them to school with NO lunch money, it was a great day. Alexis ran home and said she had the best day EVAH! Her teacher lives directly across the street from us. How crazy is that?
Brandon said his day was great too but being a middle schooler he doesn't give many details. I was able to walk him to the bus stop and he gave me a fist bump. I guess I had a sad face because he then leaned over and gave me a big kiss and a hug.
Our day starts VERY early since I bring the kids to the house to get on the bus. We are up at 5:45 and arrive at the house around 6:40 for Alexis to catch the bus first at 7:00am. My eyes are still not in focus at that early time. Brandon doesn't get on the bus until 840am. Good GRIEF!!
While the kids are at school I stay at the house and paint. You can see my mom on the scaffolding helping. She has been a HUGE, HUGE help. We've had a few good laughs and mom was able to live out a dream on the scaffolding. She danced like a go go dancer. The only thing missing was her white go go boots.
Below you can see the back yard with the outline of the pool. It looks like a big dead body. I like to give the neighbors something to talk about.
My dad comes to help out at the house too. Alexis and him were having a blast together waiting on Brandon to get home. You can also see a picture of the living room completed. It has two french doors leading into this room. I love them.
I thought I would capture a pic of myself looking decent. Since I've been home I've put makeup on twice. Seriously why bother with this heat?? 90% of the time I look like a rag a muffin. All is well….
Mom and I took a break yesterday and went to have lunch. My brother (the baby) usually gets to do this ALL the time. I made sure to text him that it was my turn and sent a picture with our mouths full. It's the battle of love.
You can also see my nails are taking a beating. Glad my mom does nails. <LOVE>On the right is the color I've painted my studio. Its a blue/gray and very vintage looking. I'm in love. The doors lead across the foyer to another set of french doors to the other side of my office. I'll call that my creation station. <smile> I just can't wait to get in there. You can see all the empty paint cans in my foyer. It's all coming together. Just a few rooms left to paint. I'll be SO glad when this is all complete.
Russ comes back on Saturday. I cannot wait to hand over a paint brush to him. I'm hoping that our flooring will be in by that time and we can get that started. Once the flooring is in we can get our household goods in the house and start the unpacking process.
I just keep reminding myself to be patient. Everything is flowing the way it should. I'm eager to create.
Some have asked why I haven't created using my mom's studio. It boils down to pure exhaustion and the fact I can barely get my arms up to my mouth to feed myself after painting all day. Who knew this would be an incredible work out? I usually get home from the house around 6pm and fall on my mom's couch. I try to answer my kids questions from school the best I can but sometimes it just comes out in the Charlie Brown mumbles. My hat's off to painters. I know this is ONE job I would not want.
Long story short… Life is great. House is coming along and despite what my body is telling me… I'm still alive.

Glad to hear things are going well Kimberly!! Sure do miss your daily creation! Love the paint colours, what paint company are you using and what is the day of the colour in your studio?
We are in process of finishing the basement and waiting for it to be mud, taped and sanded. But like u, I'm not patient and want it done! Just working on paint colours, the flooring is picked out and ready to go.
((Hugs)))
I love the color for your studiio. Would you mind sharing the brand and exact color?
What a cool post! Great up-date! 🙂
It's good to see things are going well — kids are settled in school and all. Love their expressions in the pic where they're standing next to the blackboard. So sweet! Also nice to catch a glimpse of your home — I love the porch posts!
All that painting — wow! It looks like more than your nails is getting a beating — your hands too, all splattered with paint! Must be a good feeling to get it all done though.
So your other room is your "creative station" and you have your studio — just curious, in which one will you actually be doing stamping/creating? My bet is both.
Hi to the kids.
It’s from Sherman Williams called Copen Blue. Very pretty. 🙂
Let me try this again… LOL it’s Sherwin Williams. 🙂
Kimberly the house looks gorgeous…I envy you. What a great family you have and the stories I so look forward to them everyday….I love the french doors, love the colors. The pics of the kids are precious….do I see Brandon getting a pedicure? How cute?? Keep the stories coming love them! Looking foward to seeing Russ doing some chores when he gets back to. The two of you are so precious together…love the goofy faces.
Inky Hugs,
Terry~~
Sherman must be Sherwin's evil twin – lol! Thanks for sharing!
