Great tips creating masculine cards
Do you struggle creating masculine cards? I have to admit it’s my weakest link when creating cards. It’s probably due to the fact I love anything vintage and frilly, but you can still have the vintage feel when creating a masculine card. Let me share a few tips with you.
When creating a masculine card try these tips to help you get started:
- Create a fun fold to capture the wow factor for your guy!
- While I am absolutely positive my Prince would love rhinestones and pearls try to stay away from the BLING and add more neutral tamed down bling such as Neutral Candy Dots or small punched elements.
- Create a leather look as shown in the photo above. Learn how below.
- Make the card personal. Create your own stamp using our Undefined product line. Click HERE to learn more.
- Keep your color palette neutral.
- Create a card with humor.
Creating cards for our favorite males doesn’t have to be difficult and let’s face it… if YOU make it they are going to LOVE it!
Creating a Faux Leather look:
To create Faux Leather as I did on the card above start by using the 2 1/2″ Circle punch with Crumb Cake cardstock. I gently rubbed ink all over the Crumb Cake cardstock using the Hello Honey ink and a sponge. I worked in circular motion to create a very wet “leather” look. You want a nice inked pad when you are creating faux leather. Let the ink dry. By letting the ink saturate the cardstock it gives the cardstock a nice “smooth” finish. What do you think?
Once the circle was dry I used my paper piercer to create the holes around the circle.
You may also note that my punched stars are also Faux Leather. I simply did the same thing above on a scrap piece of Crumb Cake cardstock and then punched the stars out.
Have you used the Canvas Creations on any of your projects? I love this product. I added a small layer on the front of the card and then I added a large piece on the inside. I love how this turned out.
My project this week is a part of the Dazzling Diva Challenge #26. It’s all about Father’s Day. See what the other design team members created this week. Great masculine cards. Don’t forget to join the challenge and share your creative muse with us. I used a strip of Add a Little Dazzle Gold Glimmer Metal Sheet across my card and embossed with the Arrow Textured Emboss Folder.
Lastly and pretty EXCITING is the greeting on this card. My greeting, Happy Fathers Day came from my Paper Pumpkin kit this month. I receive this each month in the mail and I love it. If you are a new subscriber you can sign up for Paper Pumpkin for just $10! That’s a 50% savings. Click HERE to start your subscription. Use Promo Code: SHELLIDEAL to start your membership.
