Friends and Flamingos

Sounds like a funny combination, but today that is exactly what I have in store for you today, friends and flamingos!

The truth is, I have a fun flamingo card and a beautiful friendship card.  One is using new products, and the other card is current products.

Tickled Pink Flamingos

With the new catalog launching very soon, I’ve been making a long list of stamps that I must have.  At the top of my list is the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set on page 177.

While I was at the OnStage Local event in Savannah, GA, my bestie won the Fabulous Flamingo set. I truly coveted this set because I LOVE Flamingos.  She was so sweet to let me stamp away when we came home to my house.  I loved it so much I used it for a swap that I participated in.

Friends and Flamingos, Fabulous Flamingos, Stampin' Up!

Lately, I’ve been so inspired to stamp because of the colors set before me.  I stamped this gorgeous Flamingo using Blushing Bride Ink for the solid layer of the flamingo and then the outline was stamped using Calypso Coral.  I love how these two colors look together.

Watercolor and Spritz

Since I used Shimmery White Cardstock for the stamping layer of my card, I was able to watercolor first, then I stamped the grass and water images over the water coloring.  I added a little spritz around the grassy images by tapping my Aqua Painter over the images once loaded with Lemon Lime Twist and Tranquil Tide ink.

The greeting was also watercolored first using Calypso Coral ink onto Shimmery White Cardstock, then stamped.  I folded the banner over and then added a doily underneath.  To color the doily, I used my Aqua Painter and Calypso Coral ink.  After I colored the doily, I like to heat set to make the drying time faster.

What’s That Beautiful Paper?

Lastly, the one thing that really rocks my world is a beautiful patterned paper.  The new Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper has a fun watercolored look, as well as beautiful colors.  The piece I used for the Flamingo card is the Tranquil Tide pattern that really made this card complete.

Color Combination

Here is a quick reference of the color combination I used for my card.  I love these colors together.

Everyone Needs a Friend

Last month I was excited to create this card for the club night.  I love how the vellum butterfly looks over the embossed flowers.  Don’t you think it looks elegant?

Friends and Flamingos, Flourishing Phrases, Stampin' Up!

I love the beautiful floral image from Flourishing Phrases.

A few of these accessories are being discontinued such as the ribbon and doilies and of course the gorgeous Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper.  Here’s the thing, this card can be re-created with the white doilies and any other ribbon and pattern paper.  Don’t be discouraged if these accessories are already sold out.

Now, with all of that said, there is a stamp set I encourage you to grab before it’s too late.  The Suite Sentiments stamp set on page 54 of the Occasions Catalog is fantastic.  GREAT greetings for so many occasions.  Check it out below:

I love the fonts in this set, and of course the greetings.  This set is a definite to grab!  Click the photo above to grab yours.

This Happened Yesterday!

Lastly, one last quick note.  I’m now the mother of a 16-year-old.  I know they grow up fast, I’m not ready for it.

I know Brandon wanted the keys to Russ’ 67′ Mustang, but that wasn’t happening. He’s now the proud owner of Russ’ truck.  It was a very special day.
