This Color Combination Could Be Tough

This Color Combination Could Be Tough

I’ve been sifting through a few color combinations trying to change up things as I create.

Do you ever find yourself using the same colors all the time?

I don’t notice it right away until all of a sudden I look at the pile of cardstock scraps near my desk and think to myself… WOW.  The same colors are used frequently.

One of my favorite Pinterest boards I have and pin to frequently is my Color Combinations board.  You can see it here.  It’s LOADED with colors.

I decided to pull a color off my ink shelf that has barely been used.  In fact I think it’s been used ONCE.  EEK.

Cucumber Crush is not on my favorite list of colors but I love a good challenge and wanted to see what colors I could pair it up with.  I thought it would be fun to challenge you too!

Ready for a weekend challenge?

Cucumber Crush -Color Combination

Color Combination, Apple of my Eye, Stampin' Up!

Are you thinking SUMMER? That’s what I instantly thought of when I looked at these four colors together.  It screams summer.

I thought of citrus, watermelon, and swimsuits to be honest.

Here is what I created using this combination.

Color Combination, Apple of my Eye, Stampin' Up!

The Apple of My Eye stamp set was top of my list.  Think lemons, limes, oranges and sweet slice of watermelon.  YUM.

Tips & Tricks

  • Stamp the round citrus image in all four colors onto Whisper White cardstock.
  • Punch using the 1-1/2 or 1-3/4 Circle Punch and then cut in half.
  • Create a tag using Crumb Cake cardstock and the Ornate Tag Topper punch
  • Attach the Citrus halves to the tag using Snail Adhesive and alternating with dimensionals.
  • Add a Gold Foil Doily for a little extra punch of color.

Confession Time….

You are not going to believe this…

As I was typing this I was looking to see what size punch I used for the citrus image. I noticed the Idea Book & Catalog states to use the 1-1/2 circle punch.

Quick thought to myself was… “Silly Stampin’ Up!  We don’t have a 1-1/2″ Circle Punch!”

Then I flipped to the pages filled with our punches.

OH MY GOSH…..

WE DO have a 1-1/2″ Circle punch.

We’ve had this since JUNE!!! Where I have been??? How did I miss this???

Just when you think you know everything in the catalog- BOOM! You don’t.

Friends… You know what I’m ordering ASAP?

Yes. That. Punch!

Sigh…

Here is the good thing.  I managed well with the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch but I know the 1-1/2″ Circle punch is going to be AMAZING for layering.  Oh the opportunities I have missed.
