We all know that inspiration can be found everywhere when it comes to paper crafts. Today, that inspiration is coming from the Be Inspired Design Team, and you may have just hopped here from Carolynn’s blog.  Our theme today is Sale-a-Bration, which means a FREE product for every $50 purchase from Stampin’ Up!
Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper
I am sure as a paper crafter you might be aware of the popular new craze called adult coloring books. Â While I am sure they have been around forever, this girl who lives under a rock discovered them last fall.
When I found them at a local craft store I instantly did not think of myself using them, but more so for my daughter who loves to color. Â However, the images in these coloring books were breathtaking, and it did look fun.
Fast forward to our new Sale-a-Bration catalog and what do my eyes see? Yes, a designer paper just waiting to be colored.
The Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper leaves you with the opportunity to make the colors of each paper your own.
Be Creative and Color
To my surprise, I ended up loving each of these cards, and I am eager to share them with you.
The creative process started with only taking 1 of each of the four designs and cutting each 12 x 12 designer paper to 4″ x 5-1/4″.
Each card is colored using a different tool such as the following:
- Sponging
- Watercoloring
- Sponge Daubers
- Markers
You will notice that each method of coloring provided a different look to the designer paper and gave more insight on how the paper would hold up using each of these tools. Â While each card is different, they are very simple with only a few additional layers of embellishments. Â All of the greetings came from one stamp set, Suite Sentiments.
Let’s see how this paper comes to life.
SpongingÂ
First, let’s take a look at how a simple sponge can create a beautiful look to this card.
I sponged the leaves with Garden Green and Pear Pizzaz Classic Ink.
After I had sponged the leaves, I only fussy cut the image and layered onto another piece of the designer series paper.
Next, stamp the greeting from the Suite Sentiments stamp set onto a Lots of Labels framelit dies.
Watercoloring
Watercoloring on designer series paper added an entirely new appreciation for this beautiful paper.
Quick Tips:
- I used an Aqua Painter to color the flower using Daffodil Delight and Tangerine Tango Classic Ink.
- Heat set the paper using a Heat Tool.
- Due to the watercolor, you might notice the paper will wrinkle. Use Fast Fuse adhesive so that the paper will lay flat onto the card base.
Sponge Daubers
This next card uses one of my favorite sponging tools, Sponge Daubers.
Rather than using the entire sponge to color the images as I utilized in the first card, the Sponge Dauber highlighted the flowers all over the paper using Crushed Curry Classic Ink.
The leaves were colored using Pear Pizzaz Ink and an Aqua Painter. Â Finally, to finish the card, I added the greeting with a few die cuts and ribbon.
Markers
Last, but certainly not least I used markers to color the images.
One of the greatest coloring tools you will find in the Stampin’ Up! product line is the Many Marvelous Markers. Â What sets these markers apart from any other marker is the color coordination with all of Stampin’ Up! products.
I used the brush tip of the marker and quickly colored the flower using Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzaz, and Tangerine Tango.
A few things to note about each of the four cards:
- All the colors coordinate together.
- The coloring techniques only highlight a piece of the designer series paper.
- Each card uses a greeting from the same stamp set, Suite Sentiments.
- Embellishments are simple pieces of ribbons or doilies.
Crafting with the Inside the Lines Designer Series Paper brought back great memories of coloring in color books all the while creating beautiful cards. Â This product will not disappoint and will provide hours of crafting enjoyment.
