Artisans Celebrate Scrapbooking!

We are gearing up for International Scrapbooking Day and what better way to do it than share one of Stampin’ Up!’s great scrapbooking tools- Project Life.

With the crazy days I’ve had behind me I was a little freaked out about a few deadlines looming, my scrapbooking page being one of them.

How quickly I forget the purpose of Project Life!  Simplicity.

In fact, because I always try to over compensate for things I found myself trying to do this with my layouts.

It’s been a few months since I’ve touched my scrapbooking area and when I come back to it I’m always reminded why I love it so much.

Each time I pull my pictures out I get to relive a moment.  Sometimes those moments are not easy, but they do remind me of many things- growth being my first thought. The second is the many blessings that sit in front of me.  It’s a gentle reminder.

One of the best things I splurged on this past Christmas was a Canon Selphy that I can print my photos from home.  Time is of the essence and this gives me a little more time to figure out what photos I want to use and print them as I need.

I use the Becky Higgins Project Life app which enables me to fit 2-3 x 4 prints onto a 4 x 6 template inside her app and then print my photos. Click HERE to download a quick tutorial on how to use the Project Life app to print 3 x 4 photos.

Once I had my photos printed, I reached for my Project Life box- Moments Like These.  It was  perfect for the memories I wanted to capture.

Again, I kept everything simple making this double layout in a few short minutes.  What helps this process is the coordination.  It’s all there in front of me, I just have to figure out which card I want to use and which embellishment I want to add.

I chose to use the coordinating embellishments with the kit which included the wooden bubble element you see at the top left of the layout.  I kept my journaling to bullets and it sums up the story.

Embrace Simplicity

Just speaking those two words ” embrace simplicity”  makes me cringe because I’m a complicated girl who tends to complicate anything I touch.

Embracing the simplicity of Project Life leads to bigger things and one of them is the satisfaction that it’s done.  I have piles of photos (actually sitting on my phone) that have not been printed.  In other words…. memories just waiting to be printed and stories to be remembered.

By embracing the simplicity of this type of scrapbooking  you can get a lot done. It’s supposed to be simple and we shouldn’t complicate it.  Just enjoy the process.

Final Thoughts

As an avid scrapbooker of 20 years, I have scrapbooked in all kinds of sizes.  Currently and what’s been a favorite of mine over the past few years is the 6 x 8 size.  While I love 12 x 12 layouts, I love the simplicity of the 6 x 8 books and love how they sit on my shelf. Here is my favorite album to use:

I also love Black & White photos so I can use any color pattern with my photos.

You can see all of the great Project Life products that Stampin’ Up! carries in one place HERE.

Let’s see what memories Krista has scrapbooked today and don’t forget to run through the entire hop.  Lots of great things to see.

PS- thank you for your kind thoughts and prayers for my friend.  She is a brave brave soul and doing remarkable during this tragedy.  Keep praying though… she is going to need them for awhile and all of those around her neighborhood.  XOXOXO
