Oh Dear! What Happened?

Oh Dear! What Happened?

Honeycomb Hello, Stampin' Up!

Was it really the 3rd that I last spoke to you? How can that be? Where did the last 5 amazing days go?

I guess a holiday in the mix kept me a little busy but honestly I have to tell you I’m just having a lot of FUN!

Our 4th of July festivities at our home was over the top fun.  It was our FIRST family party.  I spent all last week prepping for it.  Honestly, I was overly excited to FINALLY have my family at OUR home to enjoy a holiday.

The last few holiday’s we’ve spent at my brother’s or my parents.  We didn’t feel we were ready to cater to the masses yet.  There has been so much goodness going on at our little home and so much progress for Russ we finally felt it was the right time.

You can only imagine my giddiness as my family was starting to show up and everyone gathered in our kitchen with their yummy foods.  We had family from Denver in town which made it even more fun.  As my house was filling with my family I could feel my cheeks starting to hurt from smiling.  I glanced over at Russ and I could see the same giddiness.

With any party we never go without excitement.  The exciting part was Russ grilling all of hamburgers, hot dogs and brats. Never mind that he almost burned our house down.  Really, “The roof was on FIRE!”  Lucky, not a lot of damage and memories made.

The festivities continued into the night and we watched fireworks in the driveway.  Someone spent a bundle on fireworks and we made sure to hoot and holla to let them know we were loving it.  Okay, so we loved it until there was one batch that didn’t go as planned and we noticed ASH falling on us.  This is where the story gets interesting…

When we noticed an orange glow afar and NOT far from us we decided to investigate.  It was interesting to see so many standing around a house (like 40 bozo’s) that had a backyard on FIRE!  My brother and Russ asked if they needed assistance since the only thing we could see happening was bozo’s standing around video taping with their iPhones.

Immediately my brother and Russ jump out of the car when a panicked lady said YES, help us.  Keep in mind my brother had been “enjoying” the day’s festivities and Russ was really in no shape to help.  This didn’t stop neither of these BARE foot men.

Thank heavens it wasn’t long and a fire truck was on the scene and the fire was out behind TWO of the homes.  It was quite a scare.

Despite BOTH fires, it was the best weekend EVER.  It felt great to entertain our family, enjoy watching them in the pool and eat, eat, eat.

I figured I’d get back to my normal schedule but ended up being called to help with our Vacation Bible School this week at church.  Our VBS is in the morning so I have to be bright eyed and bushy tailed EARLY.  Not my cup of tea but having a great time at VBS.

In the meantime, I’ve been stamping on the fly.  Let me share this fun card using the Honeycomb Hello stamp set.

Honeycomb Hello, Stampin' Up!

I love that I can stamp on the  Typeset Designer Paper and not only does the print in the background look fantastic but stamping on it is fun too.  I used my Hexagon Framelit as a stencil and a sponge dauber to create the pattern on the DSP.

The Honeycomb Hello stamp set has tiny little images that are perfect to use with your Hexagon Hive framelit pieces.

I layered a few pieces of ribbon and twine to add a little more to this card and BAM, it was complete.  You can see all the products I used below.

Exciting new products are in the store today.  NEW arrivals include a fun Christmas stamp set that will be available in the new Holiday Mini Catalog but it’s available to YOU now.  Get a head start on your Christmas cards NOW.

  1. Kimberly,
You always have the best stories to tell. Among all that goes on I love the humor you see in everything. I’m so glad no one was hurt.

  2. Carol Carriveau

You always have the most exciting stories….soooooo glad to know that Russ was manning the BBQ and helping to feed and entertain your family! And inspite of not being in proper shape and with no shoes on, at least they tried to help put the fire out…. Now to your card….always know I will see something exciting and different…and you rocked it!
