Elegant Thank You-Label Me Pretty

Elegant Thank You, Label Me Pretty, Stampin' Up!

I love how the new Label Me Pretty stamp set has playful and elegant images mixed in this set.  Today’s card is all about elegance, and simple.

One of my favorite additions to this card is the gold pattern from the Bundle of Love Designer Series Paper.  The gold, black and white depicts the elegance.

Keeping it Simple

Elegant Thank You, Label Me Pretty, Stampin' Up!

I’m pretty much a complicated girl.  Ask my friends and family and they will tell you that. Well, they may not because they want to be nice, but the truth is I am.  Simple is hard for me to accomplish because I always want to add one more thing.  When I say add one more thing, I mean in all facets of my life, not just a card.

When I was creating this card, I’m pleased to tell it came easy to keep it simple.  I think an elegant card is just that, simple.  In this case, less was best.

Tips & Tricks

Here are few creative tips for today’s card.

  • I started this card using Whisper White Thick cardstock 4-1/4″ x 11.  The main layered piece is Whisper White cardstock 4″ x 5-1/4″.  Nine out of ten times I always use Whisper White Thick for a card base, and our smooth Whisper White cardstock for stamping.  I find there is a big difference when stamping on the thicker cardstock.
  • The Pick a Pattern Washi Tape created the perfect pattern and pop of color I needed for this card.  I especially love the designs of this Washi Tape.
  • Next, I added a 1/2″ x 3-3/4″ strip of the Gold Bundle of Love Specialty Designer Series Paper across the Washi Tape, and the Basic Black 3/8″ Shimmer Ribbon to the card front.  To keep these elements in place, I used a staple.
  • I stamped the label image using Archival Basic Black ink onto Whisper White cardstock and punched the image out using the Pretty Label Punch.  The greeting was stamped using the same ink onto Whisper White cardstock then die cut using the Stitched Shapes Framelits.  I love these framelits and I love the layered look this gives to the punched image.
  • Lastly, I added a few gold Metallic Enamel Shapes for accents.

Pastor Appreciation- Labeler Alphabet

Pastor Appreciation Month

You may not be aware, but October is Pastor Appreciation Month.

After talking to one of my friends at church we were discussing our Pastor and the great man he is.

This had me walking away thinking about all this man and his family has done for my little messy family.

Yes, messy!  I believe Pastors and their families see some really messy stuff.

Creating Appreciation

If there was ever the opportunity to create a bit of appreciation it was NOW.

The only problem was articulating what I wanted to create for our Pastor and the supplies on hand.

Surely with the load of supplies I had in sight I could create the perfect card…

While the perfect greeting wasn’t in sight… I had an idea.

My idea was to articulate something with our church mission.

The Brain Starts Clicking!

You gotta love when the brain starts clicking and the creativity starts overflowing.

Then the products and creativity work together.

First I grabbed the stamp set Places You’ll Go with the gorgeous globe and stand.

Next, the stamp set that wins for making this card possible-Labeler Alphabet!

Do you have a word or perfect greeting thats not already a stamp? Create your own with the Labeler Alphabet.

“Making Disciples of All Nations” was the greeting I wanted and the Labeler Alphabet was PERFECTION!

Labeler Alphabet, Stampin' Up!

Tips & Tricks

Below are a few tips & tricks when working with the Labeler Alphabet stamp set.

  • You can place the stamps on a block to create the words or stamp individually.
  • When stamping the words together you will notice more space between the letters because of how the images appear.
  • Heat emboss with embossing powder to give a realistic look of a label.  VersaMark Ink and White Embossing Powder achieved the look in the picture above.
  • The Globe and stand were stamped with VersaMark ink and embossed with Gold Embossing Powder.  You can create the colored globe by simply sponging Pool Party and Mint Macaron ink together over the embossed image.
  • Create a watercolor background using Pool Party and Mint Macaron ink with an Aqua Painter onto Watercolor Paper.

Regardless of what greeting you need, the Labeler Alphabet stamp set can help you achieve the results needed.

Make Others Feel Appreciated

We don’t have to have a special month to make others feel appreciated.  As stampers we have the opportunity to send a quick card and let others know our appreciation every single day.

Don’t forget the power of a hand stamped card. It’s a beautiful thing.

Today pull out a card that you have created and let someone know how much you appreciate them.

Omitting Technique!

Omitting Technique!

Hold me back because today I am pretty darn excited about something- Omitting Technique.

Well, it’s actually not anything NEW, but I think you will like the card I’m sharing today and the video that goes along with it.

First, let me tell you I’m not a huge fan of Poinsettia’s.  The reason is not a secret it’s honestly because I cannot for the life of me keep one of these plants alive.  I have a pretty green thumb, but not when it comes to this plant.  They hate me and quickly shrivel up and die.

Funny thing is, I buy a new one every single year only to watch it die and meet the trash can if I can savor it until Christmas day.  Sometimes it doesn’t make it that long.

One thing I cannot kill is a stamped Poinsettia.  HOWEVER, this stamp set was giving me a few fits.  That’s southern for PROBLEM!

The Reason for the Season stamp set is a beautiful stamp set on page 31 of the Holiday catalog and even has the Festive Flower Builder Punch that coordinates with it.  Perfect bundle to make beautiful 3D Poinsettia flowers.

But… I didn’t have time to really mess with the punch the other day and I wanted to use the stamp set.  I had a couple of ideas in mind but nothing was coming together right.

Then I created this….

Omitting Technique, Reason for the Season stamp set, Stampin' Up!

How it all started!

This card was totally inspired by a BIG FAT mistake. The irony is quite telling!

I was stampin’ along when all of a sudden I decided to stamp the leaves in Garden Green.  For whatever reason it looked completely off.  I almost dumped this entire card into the trash… but then I got an idea.

I decided to cover up my big color mistake and cover it up by creating the focal point at the top left of the card.

Omitting Technique, Reason for the Season stamp set, Stampin' Up!

All of a sudden this card just came together and isn’t it perfect that Jesus is the center? Right where HE should be.  This is where the omitting technique came into play.

No, we are not omitting Jesus. We are making Him front and center just as He should be in our lives.

If you are unsure what I mean by the Omitting technique, watch the quick video on it today.

Omitting Technique, Reason for the Season stamp set, Stampin' Up!

Bringing it all together!

Just as the stamp set title says, Jesus is the reason for the season.  I might have just created my personal Christmas card for this year.  This sweet simple card is very duplicatable for doing mass production and I love that my focal point draws you right to Jesus- the reason for the season!

The omitting technique is another inspiring way of looking at the beautiful Stampin’ Up! stamps we have to offer.  Take a look at the sets you have in your stamp room and see what other stamp sets you could use the omitting technique on.  You will be quite surprised.

You can see all the products I used for this project below.

Have an awesome Monday and make something pretty.

Tips & Tricks with Washi Tape

Show & Tell 1, Stampin' Up!

Are you a lover of Washi Tape? Designing can be so easy with this great product and today I have a few tips for you.

I used the Show & Tell 1 Photopolymer stamp set for this card and you will notice that the design is pretty simple.  Using the new Pistachio Pudding ink, I stamped the hexagon in a fun pattern.

Next, take a piece of Coastal Cabana cardstock and place a few strips of the Epic Day This & That Washi tape across an area of the cardstock making sure the length is 2 1/2" long or a little longer.  Using your 2 1/2" Circl punch, punch your circle and the washi tape.  You will notice a nice clean punch through all of the layers.

You can see I also added a little arrow image above the Washi Tape using Basic Gray ink.

Show & Tell 1, Stampin' Up!

I layered this over the stamped hexagons using dimensionals and then added my greeting over the circle punch using the Express Yourself Hostess stamp set.

See the supply list below.

Show & Tell 1, Stampin' Up!

Overall Washi Tape is a fantastic product that you can use on any project type.

Here are a few tips I've found when using it.

Tips Using Washi Tape!

1. Washi Tape can be repositioned.  One of my favorite reasons for using Washi Tape is the ability to reposition after I've placed it on my project.  It never fails that I put the tape down only to find it's crooked.  Simply peel the tape up and reapply.  It works like a charm.

2. If you are looking for a straight edge on your project using Washi Tape, use an exacto knife.  Lay the tape down on a self healing mat and take a ruler and the exacto knife and cut across.  Simply peel the tape back up and place on your project.

3. For the messy edge, simple tear.  It feels great when you can just rip that tape.

4.  Make cute little pennants using washi tape.  Simply wrap the tape around a toothpick or wooden dowel and make sure to double the tape.  Take a hexagon or square punch to make a "V" on the end for that great Pennant look.  When doubling the washi tape it will be easier to use your punch.

5. There are many ways to store your Washi Tape.  One of my favorites for easy access to my Washi Tape is using the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes from Stampin' Up!  I simply store them in the box and I can easily see my collection through the clear sleeve on the box.  See the picture below.

What’s On Your Work Table?

I feel a REALLY good weekend challenge coming on!!  Are you ready?

It's not often that my work area becomes a MAJOR disaster but this week I've been in rare form so it's only natural that my work area is too.  When I say disaster I mean it.  There is STUFF everywhere. Stamps everywhere, dimensional backings all over the floor.  It's quite embarrassing to be honest.  For the girl who is completely organized to be in this type of a hot mess is just CRAZY!

I had a little time today and I needed to create something to clear my brain! I decided to challenge myself to work with WHATEVER was on the work table.  It was a disaster already… why not clean up the disaster and create at the same time? Ended up being quite fun and love the results. 🙂

This card really is a mish mash of good fun-ness.

The polka dots are the leftover rubber pieces from my Daydream Medallions stamp set.  *LOVE THEM*  I actually  just keep these on my desk at all times for my Polka Dot moods.  I never know when that mood hits me.

I stamped them in VersaMark all over the Crumb Cake. This made my heart pitter patter.

I had a bunch of doilies sitting so I decided to use the Perfectly Penned stamp set with the Gold Embossing Powder directly onto the doily. I think I squealed.

I have my washi tape sitting perfectly lined up on my desk so I decided to put that to use too.  I did three strips of all the colors I had and once again I felt a warm rush over my entire body.  I like to call this a "Stampin' HIGH!" It's 100% natural and the BEST feeling. <sigh>

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

Remember way back when I made the feather cards? I used the Boutique Boxes Kit? Seriously, you need it.  There is Kraft Bakers Twine inside this kit.  It's SO lovely. I wrapped it a couple of times around my card and tied a little bow. I just love Bakers Twine but I covet this Kraft twine.

I stamped my little "friends" image onto one of the banners from the Boutique Boxes and then attached with a safety pin.  Last, I had this cute bird clip I've been dying to use. It's been on my desk FOREVAH!  I couldn't help but stick it on the little banner.  I like how it's cute head sticks out.

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

I *always* have smooch spray on my desk.  Gold, and Vanilla.  I sprayed my card with a nice fine dusting.

The last step and this tool NEVER leaves my desk… Color Spritzer.  I used my Sahara Sand marker for this card.  Just wanted a light spritz.

Like I said, totally random "stuff" on my desk.  All of which makes me happy.

Now, it's your turn.  WHAT IS ON YOUR DESK? I challenge you to use it.  Make a project with what's on your desk and share the link in the comments to your project.  I will draw a name on Monday for a winner to receive one roll of our new This & That Epic Day Washi Tape

If you'd like a chance to win, simply leave me a comment at the end of this post by Sunday, April 14th at 11:59 p.m. EST.   I will pick a winner on Monday, April 15th.   It's that simple.
