Scrapbook Crop Bound

Scrapbook Crop Bound

Oh boy! Oh boy! I’m headed for a scrapbook crop weekend and I couldn’t be more excited.

Why, you might ask?

I get to meet new friends!  I have found from past experience a crop is filled with friendship.  It’s always great to be in the company of like minded people and this is definitely the place.

My bags are packed to the gills.  I’m teaching 3 classes this weekend and doing a make n take at another crop.  How exciting????

The best part about these crops is they are on the gulf coast.  You can look out and see the beautiful white sandy beaches.

Scrapbooking (or crafting) + beach = Bliss!

Before I head out I wanted to share a project.  I truly have been on a creative high the last few weeks.  Feels so good.  I know God has His hands on the steering wheel of the direction I’m heading.  I’m starting to step out into new things which can be scary at times but exhilarating all the same.

Ray of Sunshine stamp set, Stampin' Up!
Sitting on my desk I have a basket of “dud” materials.  Basically it’s stamped images or die cut things that didn’t make a cut on a card but can be used at a later time.  This card was created from the duds.  Just a piece of this and that t
hrown together.

A stamp set I have not used enough is Ray of Sunshine. Take a look at this stamp set.  It’s a GREAT piece.  I love the greetings as well as the images.  I paired this stamp set with the Kinda Eclectic set which was perfection for me.  I love the sunburst and then adding the face for the sun in Gold Embossing powder was icing on the cake.

Ray of Sunshine stamp set, Stampin' Up!
Since I used the Hello thinlit from the Hello You Thinlits Dies, I decided to just use a piece of the sentiment from an image in Ray of Sunshine.

Before I leave…. a couple reminders…..

Do you keep a journal? Gosh, I’m like a journal hoarder.  I see them, I love them, I buy them, and now I create them.

Stampin’ Up! now has 2 sizes of journals and I love both.  These are the perfect little gifts for friends and family or just an act of random kindness to give.

Here is a smaller Journal that I created using the Banner Blessings stamp set.  I love how this stamp set highlights scripture in the banner across the word.

“Shine like stars in the universe” Phil 2:15
Could that be more perfect.  Not only do we enjoy the creative process but we can shine light as bright as the stars to others.  I hope you will do the same.

I’m using plenty of my fav’s on this little darling.  Gold Designer Vellum.  Punched out stars.  The best little gem on this card is slightly hidden but what a WOW!!  It’s the Birthday Bash Designer Washi Tape.    I just cut these little strips and used it more as Designer Paper than washi tape.  It cuts beautifully on my paper trimmer and then you can use as washi in many different ways.  Just think…. WIDE WIDE washi tape.  oh my!

Fall Fest |Stampin’ Up!

Fall Fest |Stampin’ Up!

Okay friends, we are full on festivities now.  Yes.  Yesterday was Christmas and today will be Fall.  My kids are always confused this time of year.  Seriously, they don’t know what holiday to celebrate.

Yesterday I put the Halloween wreath in my Foyer.  Next to it was a countdown of Thankfulness for November.  Then on the small table in my foyer we are still celebrating the 4th of July.  No wonder they are confused.

Deep breath.  That’s what we HAVE to remember during the craziness of this season.  Especially as crafters.

Do you feel that urgency already? It’s like a countdown on steroids.  We have to BREATH and take in all these festivities.  You know, enjoy the moment…..

Okay, one last deep breath as if you were in a yoga class…..

Let’s talk Fall!

Fall Fest Stamp Set

Fall Fest stamp set, Stampin' Up!
The Fall Fest stamp set is perfect for the busy crafter.  There is NO cutting.  Yes!  Isn’t that a breath of FRESH air? This stamp set has matching framelits making your creating easy.  I call it “Stamp Cut’n Go!”

Now sometimes I make things a bit more difficult because I feel the urge to add a few sewing stitches.  I always have my sewing machine up and ready so it literally takes seconds to add a stitch to a card.

Must Have Fall Products

Besides the stamps that are “Fall” you will find the following products perfect to accent your Fall projects:

  1. Burlap Ribbon – It screams FALL.  Cut it, scallop it, make it a banner.  This product will be one of your favorites for FALL!
  2. Gold Basic Metal Buttons- Perfect addition for any project you create.
  3. Color Me Autumn Designer Washi Tape-  All the Fall colors you love-Blackberry Bliss, Cajun Craze and Crushed Curry.
  4. Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper- Think small trinket boxes, scrapbooking or additional color and pattern to your projects.
  5. Ribbon- Perfect to embellish a card or even better to tie around a trinket box.  We have fall colors that you will love.  Add a little Venetian Trim for a beautiful vintage look.
  6. Linen Thread and White & Tangerine Two Tone Trim.  Linen Thread is a must have staple for any craft room.  The White & Tangerine Two Tone Trim can be unraveled and it’s beautiful to place on a card or project.  You can use it how it comes or when you unravel this trim you have two beautiful colors.

Fall Fest stamp set, Stampin' Up!

Selfie

Selfie

I’m keeping up with the hip younger crowd today and sharing my love of the Selfie.

At church yesterday I had to giggle at our Ladies Ministry meeting when we brought up the word Selfie.  Many of course didn’t understand the term Selfie, and 99% of them say there was NO way they would take a selfie.

Guess who was the 1%? Yes, ME!

Now I don’t take Selfie’s because I love myself… no! no!  If you are scrapbooker like myself the truth is I’m ALWAYS behind the camera lens and never in the pictures.

You know my mantra on writing about yourself from my All About ME Class.  I really believe you need to tell YOUR story.  Leave a bit of yourself behind so others can know how GREAT you are/were.

I take selfies on the go.  Typcially in the oddest places.  My kids will definitely see my humorous side when they read my book.

Keep it F U N!

Recently I was in the car taking Brandon to a swim meet.  We were sitting in traffic and I decided to freak him out.  I captured about 10 pictures of myself sitting in the car making funny faces when Brandon looks over with a face of sheer embarrassment and asks, “What A R E you doing, Mom?” My response-  feeling young and hip and I needed to capture it.  I think his eyes stuck in the large position and he sank down in his seat.  I smiled and kept clicking!

Tell Your Story!

Today I did a little digital scrapbooking with my selfie image of Brandon and I.  I have to catch him in a “mood” to get one of these pictures.  I mean, c’mon… he is a pre-teen and it’s not really COOL to be taking pics with Mom like this….  but being the sport he is he smiled and made me smile bigger!

Selfie, All About Me

Not only will I treasure this scrapbook page for years to come, but this picture puts the biggest smile on my face.  It captured a side of Brandon that I love… SILLY.

Today’s layout is also a challenge layout over on our Facebook Digtial Group.  The camera, Polaroid’s and Filmstrips are all fun and trendy and that is the challenge this week.  It doesn’t have to be about you, but create a filmstrip or make your pics into a Polaroid.  Heather shares a great technique on using the Freeform Tool to create a “Flash” like a camera.  It’s SO SO cool.  Check out her page and video HERE.

Try It Out!

Now it’s your turn.  Have fun with My Digital Studio and create.  If you are new to the software you can check it out HERE.  This software is extremely user friendly, easy to use and a great way to capture your memories.  It travels too.  Busy mom? Take  your laptop on the go with you and create.
