Flowers and Celebrations

Flowers and Celebrations

I stamped flowers and I’m celebrating.

Honestly, I’m really celebrating that we survived the horrible weather yesterday.

Small town Pensacola has seen some particularly bad weather over the last 2 weeks.

Two weeks in a row tornadoes have come through our town.  Truly unheard of.

From the last weather report I heard 4 tornadoes touched down in our area.  We are fine and no damage that I can see around me.

Interestingly enough the tornado formed off the beach near us.  Then once on land it basically broke apart only to reform further inland.

Scary night and I’m glad it’s passed.

Let’s Stamp….

I pulled out my Flowering Fields stamp set and the Fabulous Four set for the greeting.  I love how this card turned out.

Flowers, Flowering Fields, Stampin' Up!

I love this one particular flower in the Flowering Fields stamp set and had this idea to stamp across the Whisper White and then have a stamped Vellum overlay.

My choices for greetings were pretty wide open since there are no greetings in the Flowering Fields stamp set.  I wanted something big enough to stretch over the flowers and Fabulous Four worked out perfect.

Create It!

Flowers, Flowering Fields, Stampin' Up!

To create this card-

  • I stamped the flower across the Whisper White cardstock (2-3/4 x 4-3/4) Using Delightful Dijon Ink.
  • I stamped the greeting across Vellum Cardstock (1-3/4 x 4-3/4) using VersaMark ink and embossed using Black Embossing Powder.
  • I added 1/2 of a Gold Foil Doily under a small strip of Typeset DSP (4-1/2″ long) that I folded in half and tucked the Gold doily inside the fold.
  • To keep the layers in place I stapled them together.
  • Adhere a piece of Wildflower Fields DSP (3/4 x 5-1/2) across a piece of Whisper White cardstock (5-1/2 x 8-1/2).
  • Attach a piece of Burlap Ribbon 3-3/4″ across the Wildflower Fields DSP using Multipurpose Tombow Glue (works the best with this burlap).
  • Attach stamped flowers over the ribbon and DSP using dimensionals.
  • Attach sequins using Fine-Tip Glue Pen

Tips & Tricks

Flowers, Flowering Fields, Stampin' Up!

  • I cut the burlap ribbon in half so it wasn’t as wide.  I also like the look of a rough edge.  Feels vintage.
  • The sequins I used come from a Project Life Accessory Pack.  I’ve said before that I love these sequins because they are larger than our normal ones and the colors are awesome.
  • Folding the Typeset DSP created a fun way to tuck the Gold Foil Doily snug between the layers.
  • Flowering Fields is a FREE stamp set that you can choose from the Sale-a-Bration catalog when you spend $50 in merchandise.

I love vellum and I love how it helps soften any project.  I love how you can see the flowers through the vellum on this card.

Pedal Pusher- Stampin’ Up!

Pedal Pusher- Stampin’ Up!

One of the latest stamp sets for Sale-a-Bration is the Pedal Pusher stamp set.  Super cute stamp set with a bicycle built for two.

I’m a push over for bicycle images but this set got me on one little greeting: “Let me pedal for a while.”

This greeting instantly brought back memories of a time during Russ’ recovery from his stroke.  A time when I had to look at him and say, “Let me take over for a while”- “Let me PEDAL for a while!”  That one little statement eased a lot of burden off of him and let him concentrate on the things he needed to work on- physically getting better.

Interestingly enough, once the physical portion was better and he felt like he could take over the pedaling again, the emotional recovery came into place.  Once again I had to pedal for us for a while.  That’s what we do for each other, right?

While it may feel like a burden to take on something for someone of great intensity,  can you imagine the peace it brings to them? A lifted weight so to speak.

If you know someone who needs to hear this, this set covers it.

Pedal Pusher, Stampin' up!,

Add the cutest little chubby birds… this set was a “NEED!” It trumped all of my wants…..

Pedal Pusher

Pedal Pusher, Stampin' Up!

Can this be any sweeter? This touches my soul.  Now that Russ is doing amazing and he’s pedaling on his own,  I immediately think of God when I need him to pedal for ME.   Maybe I need to frame this.

Pedal Pusher, Stampin' Up!

Hold the cuteness for just a second.  The birds.  Oh friends!  The birdies looking at each other.  <<<<CUTE NESS OVERLOAD>>>>

Pedal Pusher, Stampin' Up!

Since my abundance of Washi Tape sits close to my desk I needed to use it.  Washi Tape is by far my favorite thing to hoard. The mounds that I have is almost embarrassing to share… I try to use it as much as I can but I think I could Washi Tape across America without a problem and possibly have left over to use.  <sad truth>

Encouragement

I believe this stamp set holds a powerful message that we can send to a friend or family member.  There is always a time when we need to rest and let someone else take the pedals and carry us through a moment in life.   Sometimes we may not have the words to convey that message. What better way than a sweet card like this one?

You can see all the products I used below for this project in the clickable links.

Pedal Pusher is a FREE photopolymer stamp set when you purchase $50 in regular merchandise from any of our catalogs.

Okay… More Encouragement

Looking for more encouragement? Hope you don’t mind me sharing…

This weekend Russ and I hosted 13 teenage girls for a weekend church camp called D-Now. Powerful weekend spent with amazing girls.

Truly I don’t have the words for what I experienced except love.  Russ and I loved every minute.

We worshiped with the girls at a near by church.  This is one of the songs we sang.

I cannot carry a tune to save my life…. I sang this at the top of my lungs.

This song filled my soul.  I hope it does for you.

Love you!

New Products on the Horizon

New Products on the Horizon

Sale-a-bration has been a great promotion this year with Stampin’ Up! and this year they are doing something I love.  As a crafter and one who has her eye on fun products pretty much all the time, I love seeing something FRESH come my way.

This year Stampin’ Up! introduced a few products that were limited time only in the Sale-a-Bration brochure.  These products have a been a huge success and they are fantastic products.  You can find these in the last pages of the Sale-a-bration brochure.

Beginning on February 16th, you can receive one of these new products for every $50 you spend.  YAY! YAY! YAY! Click HERE to see the new products.  They are dynamo!

This weekend Alexis attended a birthday party and her friend was turning 13.  I decided to play with my new Party Pants stamp set to create a card for her friend.  Personally, the name is what I love so much.  Party Pants.  Giggle.

Party Pants, Stampin Up!, Sale-a-Bration

I wanted something nice and bright and these colors worked perfect.  Daffodil is a color I’ve been drawn to this winter.  I guess it’s the sunshine I’ve needed.

Create It!

The beauty of this card is the fact you can use any balloon stamp set you have.  Look outside the box and think more of a sketch for this card.

  • Card base is 4-1/4 x 11 Whisper White Thick cardstock.  I use the thick because it’s a nice heavy weight for card bases.
  • Melon Mambo cardstock 4 x 5-1/4 textured embossed using the Big Shot and the Tiny Triangles Embossing Folder.
  • Two small banners using the It’s My Party DSP measuring approx. 1 x 2-1/2.
  • Daffodil Delight cardstock 1-1/2 x 4-1/4 stamped with the tiny hexagon images in the Party Pants stamp set.  Sponged lightly around the cardstock to give it a little extra pop.
  • Whisper White cardstock punched using the 2-1/2″ Circle punch with 2 small Gold Foil doilies behind the circle.
  • I used the Number of Years Bundle to stamp the numbers and framelits to cut them out.  Numbers stamped in Daffodil Delight.
  • Balloon is stamped onto Whisper White cardstock using Daffodil Delight ink and then punched using the Balloon Bouquet Punch.  (The Balloon Bouquet bundle is another great bundle to consider.  Click HERE to view it.) I stamped the greeting onto the center of the balloon using Archival Basic Black Ink and attached Whisper White Bakers Twine to the back of the balloon.
  • Dimensionals used to pop up some of the elements.  It’s always fun to use dimensionals to create a little extra “pizzaz!”

Of course don’t forget the envelope.  It’s always fun to create the party on the outside of the card too.

Party Pants, Stampin Up!, Sale-a-Bration

Thirteen is definitely something special so I hope this new teenager enjoyed the card, but I’m pretty sure she enjoyed the package a little more.  Regardless, I loved creating it and I loved that Alexis enjoys me creating these for friends.

I couldn’t help but laugh when I was creating this card thinking to myself… if I was making this for my own friends the balloon greeting should read… “Put your Potty Pants on!”  Oh to be young again.

Honeycomb Happiness- Wednesday WOW

Honeycomb Happiness- Wednesday WOW

Yesterday I shared a fun card using Honeycomb Happiness and the sweetest little chic.

Today, I want to share a fun way to use the ice cream image on two different cards.  Each card is the same design, I’ve just added a few extra layers.

Coordinating Products with Honeycomb Happinesss

Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

Have you ever felt like you are on a scavenger hunt when you are tying to coordinate products together? Stampin’ Up! has always done a fantastic job of doing this for us, but sometimes I like to look for other ways outside of what they have coordinated for me already.

For instance, Honeycomb Happiness is a Sale-a-Bration set that you can receive for FREE with every $50 purchase.  AWESOME!  What makes this set great is that it pairs beautifully with the Birthday Bouquet Suite. From the designer paper and accessories… it can make for some really fun projects.

I decided to use the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper and Honeycomb Embellishments for my ice cream card.

Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

If you look closely I also added a strip of Burlap Ribbon across the card front underneath the die cut label.  I loved how the texture of the burlap ribbon matched the look of the ice cream cone.

Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

The Honeycomb Embellishments added the perfect touch to the ice cream cone.  While these embellishments are 3D- meaning they can make a card bulky, remember they will still look fun even if they are a little mashed.  They can spring back into place – for the most part.  Otherwise… think of it this way, it’s the PERFECT excuse to HAND deliver as card.

To shimmy this card up a bit I decided to add a few layers of ink, doilies, sequins and cardstock.

Let’s see what I did.

Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

Tips and Tricks

  • Ink splatter was created using an Aqua Painter and ink from my classic ink pad.  Just tap the Aqua Painter and let the ink splatter.  Be careful not to over splatter.  Thats a quick way to make a card go from super cute to “What is this mess?”  Remember this post HERE?
  • A simple piece of Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper added the sparkle.
  • The scallop edge came from the Cutie Pie Thinlits.  Don’t forget the hidden treasures of dies you have.
  • Sequins are budget friendly and perfect addition to a card.  Use the Fine-Tip Glue pen for precision glue every time.
  • You will also see that I added a layer of cardstock on the ice cream image.  I wanted to add a bit more color than what I was getting from ink.
  • I added the burlap ribbon again, this time fraying the edges a bit.

Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

Notice for this card the greeting is tucked under the label instead of over the label.  It’s a a subtle change, what do you think?

Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!, Stampin' Up! Demonstrator

There you have it.  Honeycomb Happiness is a delightful set that you can create simple eye pleasing card using very few steps or a few more added steps.  Either way, it’s going to be pretty.

Time for you to weigh in.  This is my FAVORITE part.  I want to hear from you.  Which card do you like better? Which card would you see yourself making.  Leave me a comment letting me know.

Honeycomb Happiness- Quick Tip Tuesday

Welcome to Quick Tip Tuesday with the cutest little chic in town using the stamp set Honeycomb Happiness.

This free Sale-a-Bration set has the most adorable chic included in the images.   It’s the chubbiest little thing and fantastic to watercolor.

Today’s quick tip is a fun way to use ribbon.

Quick Tip Tuesday

Before I get started… BIG news today. I have a NEW Stamps in the Mail.  I’ve made a few changes that I’m excited about.  Click HERE to check it out.

Okay… Ribbon is by far one of my favorite embellishments to add to a project.  I’m always looking for a different spin to adding ribbon to projects instead of the standard bow.

It’s funny to look back through my blog and see the different ways I’ve used ribbon on cards and the cycle of trends I’ve gone through.  Have you noticed this with your own cards?

Today’s quick tip is easy and fun. I’m using one of my favorite ribbons- Seam Binding.

Why Seam Binding?

It’s the most forgiving ribbon I’ve found.  It not only ties a beautiful bow, but it also lays flat after you layer it.

Here is how I love to layer ribbon to give the appearance of a classy banner.

Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!

The ribbon stays in place with a simple staple in the center.  Notice how flat the ribbon lays down, too?

Now let’s see how this looks on a completed project.

Honeycomb Happiness

Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!

The Honeycomb Happiness stamp set is a FREE Sale-a-Bration stamp set when you purchase $50 with any order.  This set is perfect if you love to watercolor, and great for a beginner watercolor enthusiast.

Tips & Tricks

  • I started with a piece of Watercolor Paper and stamped the chic using Archival Basic Black ink.
  • Use an Aqua Painter to color the image with our Classic Ink Pads.  I watercolor around the outside edges first starting with  light color then gradually adding darker color as the water absorbs into the Watercolor Paper.  I used Hello Honey Classic Ink to color this chic.  The feet and beak were colored using Tangerine Tango.  It’s a brighter orange and perfect to add a little pop of color to this card.
  • It’s My Party Designer Series Paper has a perfect pattern that mimics chicken feet and perfect to coordinate with this stamp set.

Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!

The banner with the greeting was added over the chic image using a dimensional.

Honeycomb Happiness, Stampin' Up!

While there are hundreds of ways to use ribbon, I hope you will try this quick tip on your next project.  It’s simple enough not too bulky for the postmaster to get grouchy.

Below are the Seam Binding spools Stampin’ Up! has available.   This is a ribbon I love to always have on hand.

One More Quick Tip-

One More Quick Tip with Seam Binding Ribbon-

  • Spritz ribbon with water.  Crinkle ribbon in hand.  Tie ribbon in bow.  This creates a fun shabby chic look.
