A good cry is in order! Today I set my sites on getting out of the house and passing out business cards. Possibly this was a day or two early! Don't get me wrong, I am TOTALLY ready for new stamping friends. However this house is a wreck! Have you ever felt that you've taken a few steps forward only to find that you are 5 steps back? That was my day. Overall, it was fantastic. I'm trying to unpack and organize and after I looked at my accomplishments I felt a little deflated that more wasn't done. Russ heard a good cry after he came home from work today. This prompted him to run down to my office with his drill and hang hardware on my walls. <sigh>. I just want to twinkle my nose and have everything perfect so I can MOVE on. One day of NORMAL isn't asking too much is it? I guess when you are not "normal" that is asking a lot. JEESH!
Anyways, another way to cure a not so fab day is to stamp. Tonight, I officially STAMPED! WOOT! Once the stamp was in my hand it was all okay. Although it's just a 3 x 3 card… ROFL! I'm making a few 3 x 3 bundles for gifts to give to NEW "friendly" friends. For instance, the pharmacy lady was super nice to me when I was so sick. I wanted to thank her so I thought a few 3 x 3 cards would be easy and a fun gift.
These are very vintage using all kinds of fun stamp sets and DSP. I love the Fabulous Phrases in the new catalog. WOW. I also used the Love Note DSP. WOW WEE!!
Isn't that LACE gorgeous? I love how easy it is to work with. So many fun new toys.
Okay, now for something totally fun and new! The last few days I have been getting a few emails about business and life in general. I thought it would be fun if I did a little Q & A. Ask a question-Business or Personal and I will compile all the Questions together and then answer them in a video. I will take Questions until Sunday, August 1st! Just ask your question in the comments. It will be easy for me to keep up with them there. I will post the video on Monday!
Hope your Friday is Fabulous!

Hi Kimberly!
How do you start all over again? Do you walk your neighborhood and pass out cute stuff/ biz cards? Strike up convos with neighbors? In the market? Are you nervous? Do all your old customers still order from you, or do you honor them on to your downline in the same area? (I hate the word 'pass down', like you own them! LOL 😉 )
Oh, was I only allowed 1 question?? tee hee
sorry those were just piling up in my head!
What a great idea to make a video!
Thankyou!
Tandra
I too have moved a bunch since becoming a demo. I have15 customers in 5 states in my stamp clubs for about $700-1000 per month, but I can never seem to get my classes going and I definitely can't seem to get to the next level. I have two active downline and the others are back to being customers again….any suggestions on how to start anew and get from $700 to earning the rewards trip..I really want to do this..oh yeah and I have no upline…the two ladies I knew above me bailed….thanks for any help you can give…
Is it difficult being as awesome as you are or do you just cope the best you can? ; )
Hope your move woes are over soon!
Hugs,
Brandi
I'm working toward the incentive trip for the first time this year — any advice is much needed. 🙂 Do most of your sales come from workshops, online orders, or classes?
Thanks and hope the house and stamp room come together quickly for you.

you may not want to post this online, but i was just wondering how close you are to severna park, md? my upline is Janet wakeland in PA who is incredibl,e amazing, everything i could hope for. 🙂 but a bit far away for me. I was wanting to attend another demos workshop to just see how it goes (ive never actually been to one other than my own). we go down to dc here and there…so i was just wondering if it might be feasible to attend something of yours to learn a few things by observing locally? or is this not the right demo ettiquette?? i'm looking for a nice local experience to help energize me. 🙂
Hi Kimberly,
My question is similar to the first, about restarting your business. What is the most important thing you do to jump start your business when you move, and what is the best way to meet new people???
Thanks,
Blair Moch
Hi Kimberly,
I am just about to leave SU and I don't want to but I live in a country hick town in Australia and it is so difficult to get people to buy product and or book workshops etc. I went into pending this month and still cannot make the sales to stay in. Oh man I so did not want it to come down to this. But I am hoping to get back in when I am allowed to. But I really don't want to start from scratch again. I agree with you this is the best company in the world with the very best products on offer. Finally my question. . . .How do you get your business off the ground? I do not have an upline that keeps in contact at all so I am on my own here.
Thanks for doing this question and answer Kimberly.
Take care
Regards
Michelle
I can't imagine moving across country with a family and trying to set up your house and new clients. So with all that craziness going on, how do find time to be so creative? I love your work. I check your blog often. I get great ideas from you. You actually got me hooked on Kraft/Crumbcake and Soft Suede.
Would you mind telling us what you put in your little packets that you hand out, and show us one? I am hoping to use my time more profitably this year, and the one thing I want to do is reach out to new clients. Thanks for your time, you awesome Demo!! ;0)
How does your SAM help you in your business? 😉 Thought this would be a good one for others to see xxx
Bless your heart! You have had such a time with being sick, the move, convention…honey, it's no wonder your emotions are on a rollercoaster!!! Don't get overwhelmed by the 'forest', girl! Take just one 'tree' and start whittling it down! It'll come! Before ya know it you'll have your home spic and span and cozy!!!
Love your card as usual!!! Gooooooood stamp therapy!
I love your 3 x 3 cards – but how do you get them to people? I don't think that size can be mailed thru USPS . . . I love your website you're so creative. How do you come up with new ideas?
Hi Kimberly,
I was so excited for you at convention! Congratulations on being #1! It must feel wonderful to know that all of your hard work paid off. My question is similar to others – how do you start over? What will your first steps be and how will you meet people? I am looking forward to your video.
Hi Kim,
I am a customer of Jenny's here in Michigan. I found out about your blog thru her.. and I have to say I love it.. I love all you do. You are one strong woman to move over and over like you have.. So, you have asked all your followers to ask you a question.." How many times have you moved total so far?: I look at my scrap/stamp studio and I think.. wow.. how would I move all this stuff. Granted, im VERY organized with my stuff but still! Yikes.. and its in my basement.. so it would be a treat in itself lugging all this good stuff up and out LOL.
Like Jenny, you are very inspirational.. and thank you for sharing all you do with all of us. Hang in there.. things will get better.
Hugs from Michigan,
Dawn Bourgette

Hi Kim, First of all a huge congratulations on being the #1 demonstrator for SU. Do you have any advice for a person who has a full time job outside the home and SU is the secondary job. I do have two card classes a month and a hostess of the month group, but I am not getting any sales off of the card classes. I have not had a workshop at all and I signed up to be a demo one year ago. I am having a hard time getting people to say they would do a workshop for me. I am so looking for more in sales instead of me being my own best customer. Thanks for any advice you can give me.
Hang in there, Kimberly. Your card is beautiful!
Great chatting with you today…HUGS!!!!
Hi Kimberly,
First, I'm sorry you had a bad day! I hope your cute family and today's supportive comments picks you up and you're ready for a brand new day! I can't imagine how you you moved, stamped/blogged, got ready for and going to convention and all the "regular" daily stuff at the same time! You're awesome and by reading the daily comments, it's evident that you're also very inspiring to us all in everything you do! Thanks for doing and Q&A, a great idea. My question is; how much office time do you plan every day, you know for bookings, hostess prep, class samples, ordering ect? Oh, another question; do you deliver, or do you ie. give a discount for customers who pick up? And sorry 😉 finally, where do YOU get your inspiration from? Have a WONDERFUL day 🙂
Max the SAM is SOOOO funny!!!!!!
Hi Kimberly,
I always feel like I lack somewhere when it comes to the kids, housework, cooking and the hubby so how do you manage your day? How do you balance it all? Remember I met you at a craft fair, I attended your stamp camp and signed that day without you even asking me. Ladies like me do exist 🙂
Hi Kimberly,
Congratulation's on being #1 in the USA. I was at convention and watching you receuve your award was awesome!! You are an inspiration to fellow stampers!
I would love to hear any business tips that you might have, but I do have a question for you. How do you pick your items for Preorder (I'm just going through the Holiday Mini now).
I can't wait to hear what you have to say about building up your business. I earned the incentive trip this year for the first time. I'm looking forward to getting to know you more on cruise!!
Big hugs from Canada!!
Anne
Hi Kimberly, first let me say what gorgeous cards and things you make. I always enjoy checking your latest creations. I have a different sort of business question. I am retired, have some monthly classes and a "club", but recently all my customers are just not buying much >>$69 for 7 people at a class. I can't get out much…am partially disabled and have nowhere to go to meet people. The ones I used to work with are NOT into CRAFTING of any kind (have tried). My current customers many are elderly and they "just don't have the disposable income"..prices going up, medical going up, etc. I have a blog but cannot get people to leave comments. I have given blog candy, contests, bonus give aways, etc. HELP! How do you increase your online customers!!
Hi…
Congrat's on being #1, and thanks for opening up and sharing your success with us. I know SU is your full time career (in your case it's not a job). How much time do you spend daily/weekly? What's your "normal–average" day like? I can't imagine how you get everything done in a day not to mention move states, attend events, etc. Do you have stamp clubs, workshops, etc. or all of them? Your work is beautiful, inspiring and yet….believable that others can do the same. They are not CAS, but not over the top were you think you could never do that because it's too hard or requires too much time. Great job balancing that and I feel that's your strong suit. Hang in there….this all will pass and soon you'll be working on holiday stuff and your life will be back to normal and you'll wonder how you did it as we do. LOL
thanks again…
Denise
Sorry the move has not been so good to you. I'm still unpacking my house over a year later. The stamp room, however, is done. (-= My question is: What do you do with your old stamps and material after things retire? Do you find you use the old sets or get rid of them in favor of new? Hope the move works out well and can't wait to meet you at a class soon! Try the Wegmans grocery if you haven't made it there yet. That store can make anyone smile – one of the best parts of Woodbridge.
Kimberly:
I was in your postion in May of 09, moved from Tampa,Fl to Daytona Beach, Fl only 2 hours away from home but far enough away that it made it difficult.
I am currently in the DBD program with Gwen Gibson and part of our challenge I think for the 4th week was getting new customers. Low and behold there was this amazing word doc from who else than YOU! It had all these amazing tips and ideas that inspired me. When I came to Daytona I just jumped in like a wild woman and worked very hard to get in this small knit community and I was lucky it was my oyster not many demos in surroundling areas and none that taught classes like mine.
In one year I was able to build a bigger and better business than I had before, I doublde my sales, doubled my recruits and my recruits double their sales. I just got promoted to Manager and being away from my upline and sideline is hard, but it is ppl like YOU and Patty Bennett and countless others that inspire me and show me the way. So when your having a bad day ( you will have a few more during this process) just remember all the girls like me that you have made a HUGE impact on our business through your blog and all the work you do with SU! I want to thank you and congrats on being #1. Your an inspiration. I know how you do it and so do you! Just remember Jeramiah 29:11
Happy Hunting!!
Whitney
Hello Kimberly,
You're a fantastic inspiration to all of us! Especially when you have those 'down' times as we can relate as we all go through them as well!
Congrats on your #1 demo of the year!! I was so happy for you as I heard your name and watched you go up on stage. You work so hard at your business and you deserve the rewards!!
A very start SU demo once told me "O.K. have your down time but then get going and put those 'big girl panties' on and start working!" Sound familiar?
I have used that advice alot and it works. Thank-you Kimberly for all you do and share with us.
I know everything will come together for you and I'm very glad you're feeling better (looked terrific at convention, would never know you were ill)!
Have a great day!
Do you take orpaned demos under your wing who love and adore you, your amazing talent & creativity? (Did I butter you up enough?)
Love that your doing this, cause I always wanted to know…..
I know you do a lot of craft fairs. What the secret behind this, Is it selling handmade stuff? Having them stamp? I know just my personal excitement and sharing is a givin, but that just did not work the last time for me. Whats your secret? What works the best? Love Ya!
Congratulations on being #1 Demo of the year! I want to be on this list! What advice to you have for demos trying to achieving Founder's Circle? I'd love to hear what a day in the life of a top demo really entails!
Oooh – a question fest with Kimberley? Hope my question isn't too late. Hang on I need to think of one, lol. OK, if you had to sum up in 3 words what it takes to be successful in SU, what would your 3 words be? LOVE your blog 🙂
All my questions have been asked – but I do still have one – "How are you today?" I can't imagine being a services wife and moving so often – I can only think your incredibly positive outlook on life, family and business gets you through.
Sending you a wish for some peaceful moments.
Congratulations on making it to #1! What an accomplishment!!
I have been a SU demo for 4 years. My basic core group of customers have maintained me for those 4 years. Needless to say, my sales are nothing to write home about. My question is how to you go about finding new customers and booking workshops AND getting existing customers to spend a little more? I hold a monthly stamp camp that my customer base attends but getting someone to host a workshop seems to be impossible. Plus any tips on how you go out and about and find new customers would be much appreciated!!
Thanks for your time! Your blog and projects are such an inspiration to me! Keep up the great work!!!
