MDS Monday Challenge- Punches

Happy Monday!  It's time for another MDS Challenge and this week we are adding punches to a page.

While adding punches are fairly easy to use there are many things you can do with punches that you may sometimes forget.

MDS, My Digital Studio

What can you do with a punch?

  • Change the shape and rename for future use
  • Fill with paper or cardstock
  • Fill with a photo
  • Add text around a punch
  • No punch retires!

These are just a few of my favorites when working with punches.

Make sure to check out Heather's layout HERE.  Be sure to watch her video on using punches.

I decided to create a layout about my sweet Shelby this week.  Still can't believe she is gone.  After having a pet with you for 16 years it's hard to get her off my mind some days.

In other house news…. Russ and I were able to get TONS done in a very short time together.  I may not have mentioned but Russ was only here for a week to help me get settled and he left today to head back to DC as he turns over his job to someone new.  He'll be "home" in a few short weeks.

Considering our lack of time I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish.  We have all the paint colors picked and started the painting process. Every wall just about is getting paint.  I'm super excited about the colors but the painting job is NOT easy.  After taking Russ to the airport I went back to the house to work.  The only great thing is we are putting new carpet in which means I don't have to be super careful when painting.  This is a good thing becasue I learned today I am not an expert and paint is everywhere. Even in my hair.  YIKES.

We were also able to design our pool.  This had me so giddy I could barely talk to the man when we were designing. I'm sure he thinks I'm a complete kook-a-boo because i kept a big grin on my face.  It's also been a week of calling contractors and I'm suprised at how little called me back.  My impatience is getting the best of me.

I'm hoping to put a little ink to paper this week but I will be honest… once I step foot into my mom's house and she feeds me dinner (Yes… I'm spoiled rotten right now) I lay on the couch and I'm a vegitable.

Hoping to show you a  few pics tomorrow of the progress.

XOXOXOXO

  1. I am always excited getting into a new place and making it my own.  I can't wait to see your process.  You need to take before and after photos so we all can see….

    Good luck with the painting.

We're having our external hard drive restored which crashed 2 years ago. Eleven years of pictures!! But now that we had to put our 6 1/2 year old Bernese Mountain dog to sleep 6 weeks ago I want the pictures back. All his puppy pictures are on that hard drive. It's going to cost a lot of money but I think it's worth it.

Wonderful layout, I'm going to watch te video later.

    Eveline.

  3. Wear a hat when you paint. Wear googles when you paint the ceiling so it doesn't get on your contacts (ask me how I know)! We like the green colored Frog tape the best for painting. Good luck! Paint the inside of the closets too because you know you will never move that stuff back out to paint like you would a room. Also my daughters and I painted the inside of the garage for a surprise for my husband while he was TDY. You might also want to think about painting the floor of the garage while nothing is in there. Oops, sorry, got carried away!

  4. Your layout is really nice and what a perfect thing to do – it's great therapy.  Sounds like you got a lot of work done on the house too. What a lot of work it is!  I didn't know Russ was going back after a week so that is mot great.  At least he will be back soon!  Just think though, you'll have the house just how you want it.

I'm so jealous you're getting a pool.  Oh.My. Pool parties for everyone.  It'll be so much fun!  Very excited for you!  Glad to hear your mom is spoiling you cause at this point, I think you need spoiling!  Hang in there…the work will come to an end soon!

I am not a fan of MDS but loving the Shelby page!   Our Squeakers is going on 14…. Totally feel your pain, but you have pictures and lots of loving memories!  Wonderful that your new house is coming together…and you will get more done before Russ returns….!!   Best of luck with the painting…lol, laughing WITH YOU!

  6. Love your fur baby page 🙂  So sad you had to say good-bye, but this will help you keep the memories!  Best of luck with all of your new house projects…all of the hard work will be well worth it in the end!
