Celebrating Little Things
I’m a firm believer in celebrating the little things.
Sometimes that means celebrating getting off the couch to accomplish a small task. I’ve even clapped for myself.
Sometimes it’s celebrating being together as a family. Our kids have been busy and away most of the summer.
Or it could be I’m celebrating watching Russ find his way through this new thing we call “Retirement!”
They are small things in the grand scheme of life, but non the less, I’m celebrating.
Weird Summer!
This summer has been weird for so many reasons. The kids have been away almost every single week embarking on new opportunities. Russ and I have been so excited for them, but a little heart sick as well.
The weirdness has been having one home and the other gone. Leaving a lot of one on one time with each of the kids…. it’s awesome, but so weird too.
This past week everyone has been back home. It’s amazing the changes I can see in both of our teenagers. A lot of growth, both physically and mentally. Slightly more independent and a lot more love being shared…. for the most part.
Alexis and I have one last summer time vacation to embark on tomorrow and then it will be time for the kids to get ready to return to school. Something I’m personally dreading.
Still Stamping
I’ve been in my stamp room although not as busy as I’ve normally been. As my kids are getting older, I find myself enjoying being right in their business instead of my own and especially this summer.
I’ve needed to be more present in my kids business of “life!” Quite frankly it’s easier to run my stamping business than to parent any day. Especially hormonal, technology worshipping beasts like my own. It’s exhausting if I have to be brutally honest.
When I’m not in the midst of my teens… I am completely drawn into my wonderful therapeutic area called my stamping place.
That place I can let go of the insanity of parenting for an hour or so, and create something that doesn’t talk back, or push my mom-o-meter to it’s breaking point. I’m sure some of you can totally relate.
Celebrating Birthday’s
I was doing fantastic about sending cards earlier this year and then the summer hit and I’ve created beautiful birthday cards and not sent one. *face palm*
I get so flustered with myself over this. I have beautiful cards piling up just waiting to cheer someone up and they are sitting nice and tidy on my desk. Waiting… for a stamp and encouraging words.
Once I get back from this next trip I plan to take a few days to catch up on some much needed mail love. It’s important, and something I fail miserably at. Do you need encouragement too?
Here is a recent birthday card I created. It’s been sitting on my desk waiting to be shared and tucked away in an envelope.
The Stylized Birthday Wood Mount stamp set is one of my favorite in the new catalog because of the gorgeous font.
Cursive…. I swoon over little things like this.
This stamp set was perfection alone, but me being me… I needed to add a few things.
Quick Tips & Tricks
- I embossed the Metallic Doily using VersaMark and Bronze Embossing Powder. I love the Pool Party and Bronze together. It’s a classy look.
- The Very Vanilla Lace Trim, Linen Thread and Pool Party Stitched Satin Ribbon are stapled to the stamped Whisper White circle to keep it in place.
- Lastly I added the doilies for a little extra frill. By far my favorite embellishment.
