Vertical Garden

Vertical Garden- More Great Ideas

There is nothing like starting the week with a bang.

Today I’m sharing three ideas using the Vertical Garden stamp set.

The Vertical Garden images can make quite an impact on ANY project.

Let’s Get Started!

One of the great things about the Vertical Garden stamp set is how the images can fit any type of project.

For instance, I’ve created three different projects today including a welcome baby card, hello card and even a scrapbook page.

Vertical Garden, Stampin' Up!

Creating this first card, I was a little giddy with the frames in the background.

I love the Pop of Pink Designer Paper and it was perfect addition to this card.  Realizing the black and white stripe would probably be a little too drastic in color I decided to place a piece of Vellum over the designer paper to soften the look.

Vertical Garden, Stampin' Up!

The Vertical stamp set, a two step stamp set was fun to use with Whisper White craft ink and the Watermelon Wonder ink.  SO pretty and SO soft.

Vertical Garden- Welcome Baby

Vertical Garden, Stampin' Up!

Finally, a stamp set with an image that can open many doors.  Welcome baby, welcome home, welcome love… the list can go on with a simple “welcome!”

Vertical Garden, Stampin' Up!

This stamp set worked beautifully with the Made with Love stamp set.  The baby onesies were stamped and then die cut using the Baby’s First Framelits.  A quick and simple card for a beautiful new baby.

Scrapbook it!

Finally, the scrapbook page.  Wow, it’s been a long time since I created a traditional scrapbook page.

Vertical Garden, Stampin' Up!

Vertical Garden stamp set provided the perfect title and background for this layout about Paris.  Just like the welcome image, you can only image the phrases you can create with the hello image.  Hello Paris created a perfect title for my layout.

Vertical Garden, Stampin' Up!

I paired the hello image with the Labeler Alphabet to spell “Paris”.  Think of all of the words you can create to pair with both the hello and welcome stamp images.  WOW.

Your Choice with Vertical Garden

When I create with any stamp set, I’m always looking for the different ways it can be used.  This simple stamp set, created to pair with the Vertical Garden Project Kit has so much more to give.  Truly a set that can be used on many great projects.

Vertical Garden will be available on January 4th when the Occasions Catalog goes LIVE.  It will be an exciting day as we start a BIG promotion with Sale-a-Bration at the same time.  I’ve heard through the grapevine that the Occasions and Sale-a-Bration catalogs are rolling into mail boxes.  ohhhhwwwweeeeee.  This is so exciting.  It’s almost here.  It’s almost HERE!!!

Meanwhile… may your Monday be spectacular as we head into this last week before Christmas.  I’m still working on a few projects and hoping that I’ll be finished in time.

My secret this week will be this…  a big attitude of “let it be!”  In other words, I know there will be things that WILL NOT get done.  L

World Scrapbooking Day

World Scrapbooking Day

Happy World Scrapbooking Day to you!

Today is a bit exciting as I have a fun  International World Scrapbooking Day Blog Hop to share with you.

World Scrapbooking Day, Stampin' Up!

You may be just starting here or have come from the amazing Ilse van Vliet blog.

Either way you can make your way around by using the list at the bottom of this blog post, so that you don’t miss a blog and a chance to be inspired by the scrap lay-outs, Project Life pages and/or scrap mini-albums our talented group of Stampin’ Up!® Demonstrators have created!

Let the fun begin!

I decided I would work on an scrapbooking album for each of the kids and wanted to start with a cover page for the album.

I loved building this page and started with a clean blank slate.  I had tons of ideas when starting this layout and then it just evolved.  I LOVE when that happens.  After being in a creative rut for a bit, it felt great to find a bit of mojo.

World Scrapbooking Day, Stampin' Up!

Building the Page

World Scrapbooking Day, Stampin' Up!

Starting this scrapbooking layout I began with a few products on my desk and then started layering working on the left side first to showcase my photos.  Here are a few of the products I had on hand.

World Scrapbooking Day, Stampin' Up!

I uploaded my photos to the Becky Higgins Project Life App and used a template to create 2 x 2 photos.  I love how tiny and fun these photos are and they are a direct reflection of my sweet Alexis and her infectious laugh.  You can see my post from Wednesday HERE where I share how to use the Becky Higgins App to print your own photos using a Canon Selphy Printer.

The Shine On Designer Paper with gems speaks to my page as she truly is a gem.  I love the polka dots on the Fancy Foil Designer Vellum because it adds “fun” to the layout.  The clip and die cut you see around the photo come from the You’re So Lovely Project Kit.  <—— It’s a MUST buy.  Truly one of the best kits.

World Scrapbooking Day, Stampin' Up!

The tiny little blue triangles come from the Memories in the Making Project Life Kit.  It’s one that you will swoon over.  Think Ice Cream, Good Times, and Balloons. Perfect to capture birthdays and so much more.

World Scrapbooking Day, Stampin' Up!

Moving over to the right side of the layout, you can see I added a few more strips of designer paper and then stamped the “Life” onto Whisper White cardstock to sum up the entire page.  This will be Alexis’ life.  This stamp set comes from the Project Life This is the Life stamp set.  GREAT set for scrapbookers.

World Scrapbooking Day, Stampin' Up!

Another favorite I added was the Silver Glitter Tape that you can receive FREE with a $50 product order.  Oh this tape is a piece of heaven.  Easy to tear and add’s so much to a project.

World Scrapbooking Day, Stampin' Up!

Another fun piece I did for this scrapbooking layout was added a little watercoloring using Soft Suede ink and my Aqua Painter.  It was a quick brushing of color, nothing fancy.  Another favorite I added was the gold balls and stars from the You’re So Lovely Project Kit.  These are little gems in that kit. WOW!

Now it’s time to visit the rest of the hop and see the amazing scrapbooking talent from all over the world.  This is my favorite part.  Grab a cup of coffee or your favorite drink and take in the inspiration.  If you are not much into scrapbooking, look at it from a crafting point of view.  Take snippets and see how you can apply it to a handmade card.

You can see all of the products I used for this layout at the end of this post. Use the clickable links to shop online.

Capture Life with Project Life

Capture Life with Project Life

Over the last couple of days I’ve been immersed with trying to be more diligent on capturing the everyday of LIFE.  We all know that life is BUSY.

This week I was reading Heidi Swapp’s blog on a new challenge.  If you have followed Heidi for any length of time you know that her family is dealing with the tragic loss of their 16 year old son. I’ve followed Heidi for a VERY long time.  Watched her kids grow up on social media.  I can’t imagine the loss or the heart ache.  Once again this beautiful woman has inspired others with her passion on capturing life.  Thankfully she has always been one to capture life through a photograph and she will always be able to see her beautiful son’s face through those photos.  Of course it’s not the same, but I know how a photo can bring a smile to anyones face.

Heidi’s post just reiterates what I’ve said here on my own blog for YEARS.  We all have a story to tell.  You don’t have to be creative or artsy fartsy to tell your story. The biggest challenge is getting those photographs off your camera and printed.

Over the years I’ve done ALL kinds of scrapbooking.  Traditional 12 x 12, 8 1/2 x 11, digital, Project Life, Mini Books.  I enjoy taking those memories and keeping them alive.  I’ve scrapbooked many books about myself so my kids can always remember WHO I am.  Not just a mother… but a girl with deep down feelings, goals, heartaches and most of all a lot of LOVE.  They will always know this about me.

Heidi’s new challenge is simple.  Take a picture every day for 30 days.  She gives you a prompt to help you.  I’ve heard many people say… “my life is nothing extraordinary.” Oh friends… mine isn’t either.  In fact as I type this I have a large load of laundry piled next to me.  The floors look like I have 50 dogs instead of 2.  Tanner chewed up a stuffed toy and the stuffing is EVERYWHERE.  The thing is… that’s a captured moment.  “That day I didn’t want to get off the couch and tackle that ginormous laundry pile!”  We ALL have a story.  I hope you will take a minute of your time to read her blog.  Pray for her and start capturing your life.

I wanted to share what I’m doing with this challenge.  Lord knows my time is SHORT during the day. I can use Project Life and create a simple layout with my daily photos.  Here are the first two days of the challenge and I will be sharing the others as I create them.

Capture Life Day 1, #hscapturelife, Project Life

I’m using the This is the Life Card Collection from Stampin’ Up! and the 6 x 8 pocket sleeves.  My goal is to have 30 pages in one sweet little book.

Capture Life Day 2, #hscapturelife, Project Life

As you can see, the layouts are simple enough.  Takes me under 30 minutes to complete- from the time I print my photo to putting the pockets in the sleeves.  It’s that quick.

I created a Project Life Getting Started document if you have never tried this way of scrapbooking.  It all starts with the photo.  Click HERE to download.

Day 1 Prompt: Ready.Set.Go  – Just START!!

Day 2 Prompt: It’s a Fine Day to Wander-  We will all interpret these differently.  As you can see mine was about my MIND wandering.  Again, don’t think too much into this.

AND don’t stress.

If you forgot to take a photo just look at your camera roll on your phone.  Currently there are over 6,000 pics on my phone.  Oh HELP me!

NOW… BIG NEWS!!!!  Here is a video of my Let’s Get Away Project Life Album.  If you are a demonstrator I shared this at convention. Demonstrators will soon see more info on the class I spoke about in the resource section under convention.  Not a demonstrator… no worries.  This video will give you an idea on how I created the album. Remember, keep it simple.  I will also be sharing photos that will give you a bit more detail.

Love to each of you.  Go capture LIFE.  Life is short.  We need to enjoy every S I N G L E day!

Digital Scrapbook Week

Digital Scrapbook Week

Did you know it’s Digital Scrapbook Week?

I’m not going to lie.  I was going through my email when I received something that talked about it and I had a glimmer of excitement.  It’s been awhile since I had opened My Digital Studio.  I immediately opened it up and started creating… Well… sort of.

If you are a mac user and you updated to Yosemite, there is a little snag with My Digital Studio.  Luckily Stampin’ Up! is on top of it and provided a patch that fixes the problem.  If you are having this problem, click HERE and download the patch and you will be all set.

Now… once I had that fixed I was creating away.  I love My Digital Studio and I love creating pages of my sweet doggie.

Digital Scrapbook Week, Stampin' Up!, My Digital Studio
I enjoyed going through my software picking out fun elements for this layout.  There are a couple elements I purchased from Pixel & Co that were added as well.  I love that you can use other digital art with our software.  The font I used is called KD Rocky.

If you are like me and haven’t opened your software in awhile, I challenge you to do so this week.  Share your project on our Simply My Digital Studio Facebook Group.  We have a challenge this week to have 50 projects uploaded.  There will also be a drawing on Monday.

Celebrate Digital Scrapbook Week with me, will you? It’s another great option to share your creativity.  Isn’t it great we have so many options with Stampin’ Up!

You can see NEW digital art from Stampin’ Up! HERE.  For Digital Project Life fans, there are new fun downloads too.  Don’t miss it.

My Digital Studio-Embellishing

My Digital Studio-Embellishing

Happy Monday and Happy Memorial Day.  Today I’m remembering those that made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.  We’ve lost a few friends during Russ’ career in the Navy.  They were great guys with great families.  Today, we remember them.

This weekend I spent time catching up on my house.  Russ and I have been discussing getting a housekeeper to help us keep things a bit more tidy than what I can keep up with.  Let’s face it, with two kids that is nearly impossible sometimes.  The kids have been very helpful in the house but they can only do so much.

Have a fantastic Monday and enjoy Memorial Day.  Remember those that made the ultimate sacrifice.  THAT is what today is about.

After the two weeks of catching up on work our suitcases had not even been unpacked and the master bedroom looked like a bomb went off in it.  In the 11 hours I spent cleaning I didn’t even clean the entire house.  UGH.  The MAJOR stuff was cleaned and I’m proud to report we are unpacked.  The biggest accomplishment is laundry.  It’s almost caught up.  YIPPIE!

Finally after all that was done I was able to sit and play with My Digital Studio.  I’ve neglected it for a bit.  A bit unusual for me but I’ve been so engulfed with paper craft ideas that I had to create while they were FRESH in the brain.

Today I’m challenging our Simply My Digital Studio Challenge group with embellishing their layouts.  Let me share…

My Digital Studio Embellishing, Stampin' Up!

With My Digital Studio there are fantastic downloads with embellishments ready to be used on your layouts.  On my layout above I went to town with the embellishments.  If I found an embellishment that didn’t coordinate  but I still wanted to use it, I just changed the colors to make it so it would work.

I encourage you to jump into your My Digital Studio and see what great embellishments you can dig through. Make sure to have the New Project Life Digital Download in your arsenal of great downloads.  It’s gong to be one that you will use over and over again.

Be a part of our great Challenge Group on Facebook by joining HERE.  Over 1500 members sharing and inspiring every day.  It’s pretty darn amazing.  Make sure to check out Heather’s layout as well today.

Visit my Digital Online Store HERE.  Be careful… it’s EASY to get lost there.
