Working in Quadrants- Digital Scrapbooking
Heather and I have a really fun digital challenge and it’s totally different.
Have you ever been stuck when starting a layout and not sure where or what to start with? Heather had a grand idea to work in quadrants.
When I started this layout below I began with a white background. I then added four photos in each corner and placed them where I thought I would like to design around them. If you ever watched me create on in MDS I would make your eyes cross! I have a tendency to move elements all over the place when creating.
This is when the fun part of designing this layout started. I treated each photo like it was a mini layout. Just working around the photo and adding layers of elements. The key was keeping elements that coordinated and I kept them in the color scheme for the entire layout.
Another key element in creating this layout and using elements from several digital kits was turning the photos into black and white. The color photos would of been clash city!
I encourage you to give this challenge a go. When finding elements try these tips to make creating even more fun:
- recolor your elements to coordinate the layout
- crop stamp brushes to make a better fit for a title or layer
- use elements from other kits to see how they coordinate together.

Mom and I are headed to Birmingham, Alabama for the big event. Hoping this does not turn into a scene from Thelma & Louise. She is already freaking out over the storms headed that way.

Great sketch & love how you used it. I see the future look of a sweet-faced boy – your pictures are great.
Hoping you and your family are safe from all of the horrid flooding in your area. Our prayers are with you.
Hope you’re ok despite all the flooding — have been wondering … and praying.
