Be Inspired with Blendabilities!

Be Inspired with Blendabilities

It’s Monday and I’m excited to get CREATIVE!! I have a great line up of creativity this week that I can’t wait to show you.

Blendabilities, Stampin' Up!, Bloom with Hope

When I opened the new catalog I was in awe with the new images.  I instantly turned to the Hostess sets in the back of the catalog.  There was a quiet squeal when I was able to see them.  This year I want ALL of the hostess sets. Each of them have great images.

You’ve known for awhile that I’ve never been a big floral stamper but I loved how this set has a sketched look with the flowers and stems.

Using our new Blendabilities makes coloring a whole new world.  The alcohol ink markers are easy to learn and your coloring becomes a master piece.

I’ll keep you posted when these amazing markers will be available to customers.  Currently they are only available to demonstrators.  <Learn how you can become a demonstrator and order your own Blendabilities HERE>

Blendabilities, Stampin' Up!, Bloom with Hope

I used the Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blendabilities starting with the lightest shade and working in the medium and darker shades next.  When using these markers I colored the entire image with the lightest marker first.  Then I gently blended the medium shade along the outside petals and blended over these darker shades with the lighter marker again.

I did the same thing with the leaves image by starting with the lighter color and working in the darks gently.  Once the images were completed I cut the flower image out and popped it up using dimensionals towards the bottom of the card.

Tip: Remember to use Memento Black ink when stamping images to color with your Blendabilities.  This makes sure there is NO bleeding of the inks.  I have a huge crush on Memento Ink.  It’s my new favorite go to ink pad for Black.

All the products used on this card can be found below.  The Bloom with Hope stamp set will be available on June 2nd.

Working in Quadrants- Digital Scrapbooking

Working in Quadrants- Digital Scrapbooking

Heather and I have a really fun digital challenge and it’s totally different.

Have you ever been stuck when starting a layout and not sure where or what to start with?  Heather had a grand idea to work in quadrants.

When I started this layout below I began with a white background.  I then added four photos in each corner and placed them where I thought I would like to design around them.  If you ever watched me create on in MDS I would make your eyes cross!  I have a tendency to move elements all over the place when creating.

This is when the fun part of designing this layout started.  I treated each photo like it was a mini layout.  Just working around the photo and adding layers of elements. The key was keeping elements that coordinated and I kept them in the color scheme for the entire layout.

Another key element in creating this layout and using elements from several digital kits was turning the photos into black and white.  The color photos would of been clash city!

I encourage you to give this challenge a go.  When finding elements try these tips to make creating even more fun:

  • recolor your elements to coordinate the layout
  • crop stamp brushes to make a better fit for a title or layer
  • use elements from other kits to see how they coordinate together.

Keep Your Easter Memories Alive!

Are you keeping your Easter memories alive?

We had an amazing weekend spent with lots of family.  I don’t know about you but I didn’t want the weekend to end.  Not only did I enjoy being with my family but the day was filled with rejoicing that HE is ALIVE!

I want to continue to keep our Easter memories alive and the best way I know how is to digitally scrapbook them.  I even pulled out the BIG DADDY camera this weekend.  I haven’t used my DSLR in a long while.  Almost forgot how to use Manual Mode.  I’m always quick to pull out my iPhone to take quick shots.  Not this time.

Easter Memories Alive, MDS Challenge, Digital Scrapbooking, Stampin' Up!

Funny story… I have over 100 pictures that I had taken over the weekend.  I loved this designer paper from Libby Pritchett and her 14 Carrot Kit. No problem, right?  I decided I would change the photo to Black and white so I could use it the paper.  Alexis had a BRIGHT pink shirt on that day and it clashed with papers.  It wasn’t going to work!!

My layout was created using My Digital Studio.  Truly the most USER friendly program to digitally scrapbook.  You can see all the digital downloads I used in the links below.

If you love to create with Digital products join us on Facebook in our Challenge group.  Each Monday a new digital challenge is given and this week it’s all about Easter.  Share an Easter project with the group.  It can be ANYTHING such as a card, scrapbook page or even a home decor item.  Become a member of this prestige group with close to 15oo members and growing everyday.

Make sure to check out what Heather created this week for the challenge.  It’s cute as EVER!!

What Best Describes You?

When you are digital scrapbooking, what best describes you?

  • Do you use more than one photo or do you like one photo pages?

  • Do you journal or keep it simple with a date and place?

  • Do you like to layer elements or prefer block elements?

Why all the questions you might ask? I think as creators, whether it’s digital, paper or yarn… we evolve over time.  While your style may stay similar, the dynamics of that style may change.

When I first started scrapbooking I had as many photos as I could possibly fit on my scrapbooks and…. get this… SHAPES.  Oh yes!  I had hearts, stars and I would crop faces to make sure their face was perfect in the star.  As a traditional scrapbooker I loved to journal but I was a huge procrastinator.  I would create the layout and set it aside knowing one day (that day has not happened yet) that I would get back to it.   I never use to layer my elements.  They were very linear and set perfectly.

Overall, I can see how my style has stayed the same as far as shabby, but the dynamics in how I place the items on the page or in my case the computer have changed so much.
