Going Far

If you have never seen the Tutorial Bundle or this blog hop, it’s a special one.  I used the Going Far stamp set for this months tutorial and to inspire you for this months Blog Hop.  That’s the beauty of this design team.  Not only do we have a tutorial packed with great projects (cards and 3D), but we also share a different project on our blog hop for more inspiration.

Tutorial Bundle, Stampin' Up!

The Going Far stamp set was perfect to use my Stampin’ Blends.  In fact, interestingly enough I’ve not created a background using stamp images in forever.  I love how this card turned out and love how the colors pop!

Tip: I used the following Stampin’ Blends to color the globe images: Old Olive, Daffodil Delight, Pool Party, Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate.

Tutorial Bundle, Stampin' Up!

One of the reasons I love coloring with the Stampin’ Blends is the rich color it provides. It’s so beautiful.

You will notice that I also went over the greeting with my Pool Party Stampin’ Blend to make the greeting pop just a bit more.  I added a few more embellishments to the greeting to complete the card.

Creative Explosion- Stampin’ Up!

Creative Explosion- Stampin’ Up!

Oh boy! There has been a creative explosion in my studio!   It’s been awhile since I last posted.  I was afraid I wouldn’t know how the buttons worked since my blog updated a few times since the last entry.

My intention was not to take a break in the blog world however it happened because I am EXCEPTIONAL at overloading my schedule and forget that I have children who need me to taxi them ALL the time.

The good news is I might have some control over my life again. The things I overloaded my schedule with are/were good for my soul.  I started teaching a bible study at my church and love love love it.  It’s taken up a bit more time than I had imagined but again my heart is happy.

I could bore you with all the other crazy news but I don’t think it’s necessary.  The quick update is everyone is alive.  Sometimes these people in my house get a little out of hand.  Not naming names… just saying.  Russ continues to get stronger.  He’s hitting a few road blocks in his therapy.  Very frustrating.  We continue to encourage and know that God will provide.

The last two weeks have been the busiest and the BEST.

There is something to be said about getting with your girlfriends and crafting together.  My girlfriend Cathy traveled here to Pensacola and then we took off for Orlando for Stampin’ Up!’s Leadership conference.  There we met with our other two bestie’s Terri and Deb.  Oh what a dream vacay that was.  4 girls in a condo crafting like a bunch of school girls.

After Leadership Cathy and I came back to Pensacola and she stayed another week with me.  We crafted EVERY single night until at least 2 AM.  Overall we created 52 projects that we couldn’t be more proud of.  Some of our projects were a collaborative effort and some we came up with on our own and always made doubles so we each had one.  Let’s just say Cathy’s suitcase is HEAVY.

First I want to share one of our favorite projects that we collaborated on.

Coffee Anyone?

You know I’m a complete coffee lover and so is Cathy.  We had to play with this set. It’s been awhile.
Perfect Blend, Stampin' Up!
We were pretty excited about this card because of the fun texture we added.  We used the Stampin’ Up! Decorative Mask Hearts & Stars and added Modeling Paste over the mask.  This is how we created the hearts on the Kraft cardstock.  Once the modeling paste dried (which is pretty quick) we used a very fine paint brush (Sponge Dauber would work too) to add Gold Encore Ink to a few of the hearts.

Perfect Blend, Stampin' Up!

Next was just adding the layers we wanted to add a little curb appeal to the card.  Things such as Fancy Foil Gold Designer Vellum – delicious, don’t you think? It’s just a simple banner underneath the coffee cup but love how the hearts blend right in.

We added the words “Coffee” using my new favorite tool- the Alphabet Rotary stamp.  I’ve had this little gem for a long time but hated using it until I had seen it in action at Leadership.  Now I’m hooked.

Blendabilities were used to color the coffee cup using Pink Pirouette.  I love the soft look of this pink.

The extra zing for this card used the stamp set You Plus Me.  This set has 2 little arrows that are adorable.  We highlighted one of them to show up through one of the hearts.  SO fun.

You can see all the supplies for this card below.

I have MUCH more to share so stay tuned.

Also, a new Stamps in the Mail is coming.  It’s ready to go just need to fine tune the details.

Tomorrow I am going to share FUN Valentines project. You might SQUEAL!!!

Complete Distraction- New Stamps!

Complete Distraction- Stamps!

All was fine until UPS showed up at my door with the ginormous box of new Stampin’ Up! goodies.  It caused a complete Distraction!

You know that moment when things are piled up all around you and you have a list a mile long to complete but there is something sparkly and shiny sitting in front of your face.

I couldn’t help it.  I had to leave the family sitting without mama tonight. The box was too tempting and the bright and shiny had to be unleashed from the box.

Helllllloooooo new stamps.

I let out a big squeal and I think I might of scared the kids.

Once everything was out of the box I had to play.

A Happy Thing

A Happy Thing, Sale a Bration, Stampin' Up! This chubby little bird was created using a new Sale-a-Bration stamp set that is sure to be a big hit this year.  Honestly, get ready for an incredible Spring season of new beautiful products coming your way.

I colored this birdie using my new Blendabilities Soft Sky.  Love the softness of this color with the Blendabilities.

The new twine (White used above), is divine.  Very soft.  I am in love.

You can see the products I used below.

Today is a perfectly busy day.  Christmas Shopping, Hair appointment, Christmas party, and sometime I might fit more stamping in. Oh… I’m still trying to finish my Christmas cards too. YIKES.

Have a BEAUTIFUL weekend.  Enjoy Christmas traditions and if you don’t have any, make some this year.

Finding Joy During the Season

Finding Joy During the Season

There is no doubt this year we are finding joy during the season.

While it wasn’t a planned hiatus, I was finding myself becoming overly stressed during a season that was to be joyful.  Can you relate to this?

This time of year is no doubt my favorite for so many reasons.  Of course last year everything *normal* was tossed and the only thing we focused on was getting Russ home for Christmas.  THAT was joyful.

This year I found myself wanting to make up for everything lost last year.  Not that we haven’t spent Christmas without Russ before.  It never failed that Russ would be on deployment during Christmas. Last year was so different however.  This year I wanted every single tradition we have to HAPPEN.  Not just for the kids but for everyone.

If it’s one thing I learned last year during this time, you don’t take anything for granted and enjoy LIFE.  I’m happy to report that is exactly what we’ve done.

As a business owner it may not have been the smartest choice but I can’t help but look at my family and know that each time I’ve stepped back from the business side of things I’ve never once regretted it.  I’ve always felt the choices that I’ve made were in line with what God would want me to do.  Making sure that my priorities are ALWAYS in check.  God first, Family second and Career third.  When they are in this order, we’ve been blessed 1000x times or more.  Just look at Russ… he is the perfect example.

Inspiration On a Different Level

Normally when I talk about inspiration it usually involves something crafty.  I’ve been inspired by something totally different lately.  The inspiration comes from the Prince himself.  Determination should be his middle name.  Last weekend Russ was determined to get our Christmas lights on the house.  I had an errand to run and told him I would be right back.  Do not do ANYTHING crazy until I got home.  Imagine my eyes when I pull up to see the attic ladder down and Russ standing on it.  This was a moment I almost wet my pants.

Lights 2 Lights

Luckily, I noticed two little boys higher on the ladder and they were helping Russ get the lights down.  Without any hesitation the three of them worked aimlessly to get our lights up.  Keep in mind the boys, both 13 did not do this without grumbling.  In fact at one point I had to pull the boys aside and have them count their working fingers.  That stopped the grumbling quickly.

I’m proud to say our lights look beautiful.  We haven’t had them up in a LONG time.

One of our favorite traditions is baking cookies with my mom.  Alexis especially loves to bake and the boys love to EAT.  Ironically this year we baked a ton of cookies and I hardly have ANYTHING in my house.  My mom ended up with all of them.  This does serve a good purpose as I’m not eating them.  However, I find that I’m craving them like a crazy lady.

cookies 2 cookies 3 Cookies I treasure the time we get to spend with my parents.  I love that my kids enjoy spending the time with them too.  They learn so much from them.

During all my crazy fun that we’ve been having of course I’ve procrastinated on making my Christmas cards.  Now it’s down to the wire and I’m frantically trying to get them done.  I sat down last night and started coloring Santa’s for a little card I had in mind…

Santa Stache, Stampin' Up!

I have many of the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stacks sitting on my desk so I thought I would start using them for my card.  I have to say I am completely addicted to coloring with my Blendabilities. My favorite is coloring in bigger images like this Santa.

Santa Stache, Stampin' Up!

The Mustache Framelit is another favorite and I used the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper for the STACHE.  ***LOVE***

What’s Next?

I am happily awaiting my order from the upcoming Spring Occasions catalog which is due to arrive tomorrow.  Looks like I’ll be a stamping queen again. I’m super excited.  After Christmas I’ll be back to my normal schedule.  The kids start Christmas break on Friday.  Sadly for Brandon he is getting braces tomorrow.  To be honest, he is excited to begin this journey even though it might be uncomfortable.  Say a prayer for him tomorrow.

Meanwhile, enjoy this season.  Every moment of it.  Enjoy spending time with your family and the enjoy the best gift given to us and WHY we celebrate this beautiful season… Jesus!

Howdy Ya’ll- Yee Haw Stamp Set

Howdy Ya’ll- Yee Haw Stamp Set

Good Tuesday morning.  Lots of great things to share and taking a day off from holiday cards.  Hope you don’t mind.  As much as I love this season and as much as I love creating projects with holiday sets, sometimes I need a breather in between.

I thought I would share a fun card today using the Yee Haw stamp set. I love this set mainly because of the “Southern” twang I hear when saying the greetings.  It’s rare you see the word Ya’LL or Y’all in a stamp set.  Do you hear that Ya’ll??

Let me share my Rootin’ Tootin’ card…

Yee-Haw stamp set, Stampin' Up!, Birthday
I used Blendabilities on this card to color the Sheriff’s badge. Love how it stands out.
Yee-Haw stamp set, Stampin' Up!, Birthday

Stampin’ Tips:
I stamped the Sheriff’s badge twice.  I colored one with Crumb Cake Blendabilities and the second image was used to layer the colored Badge.  I wanted the banner in the center to stand out.

To create the polka dots I used the Dots & Stripes Decorative Masks.  Using a sponge dauber and Crumb Cake ink I gently sponged over the Whisper White cardstock.  Once sponged I stamped the stars from the Yee-Haw stamp set in Early Espresso ink.

Yee-Haw stamp set, Stampin' Up!, Birthday
I’m excited to give this cowgirl birthday card to someone.  It’s still frilly, but so fun.

See all the SUPPLIES for this card below.
