Add Interest Using Stampin’ Up! Punches
Punches are one of the most used tools in my stamp room and especially my circle punches.
Of course my Big Shot gets a ton of use but punches make my crafting life easy. Don’t you think?
I really can’t get bored with punches and because I’m such a lazy crafter, punches make my crafting world even more spectacular because they save me time.
What I love is through the years Stampin’ Up! has made it more and more easy for us to create with the wide selection of punches. While I’m sad to see some of our punches retire, I’m also excited for the new ones that are coming.
Layering Punched Pieces
One of the things I’ve been enjoying with punches is adding depth to a handmade card using multiple layers of a punched image.
I had tried this with a few die cuts recently and then thought – why not a punched image.
Today I grabbed the remaining pieces of my You’re So Lovely kit and put together 9 cards. I loved all of them but as I was getting near the end of my creative streak, I felt the urge to try something different.
Create It!
Let’s jump in and I’ll share with you how to create the card above and most importantly show you how to create depth using your punches.
- Fold your cardstock base in half to create your card. Using the sponge roller (or you can use a Sponge Dauber) and Dapper Denim ink (coming soon), sponge over the star mask from the You’re So Lovely kit. *Note* You can rinse the sponge roller under water and squeeze out the water and pat dry and it’s ready to use again. LOVE!
- Stamp congrats and banner image onto the Kraft cardstock label die cut using Basic Black ink. Images from the You’re So Lovely stamp set.
- Punch out 10 stars using Star Punch. I used the new InColor- Dapper Denim. Layer 5 star punches onto one another using Liquid Multipurpose Glue. Let this dry.
- Adhere the stars to the card as seen above.
- Add a strand of White Jute ribbon behind the congrats banner.
- Add Gold metal stars to card front from the kit.
- Enjoy!
You can see how the punched images stacked together create great depth. I think I will use this as a graduation card. Perfect for a young male. Actually, I might give this to Russ. He retires from the Navy on June 10th. That’s another story for another day.
Mission Accomplished!
As you can see, I was on a mission yesterday. I couldn’t let this kit go to waste. It’s been one of my favorites and I’m a hoarder. As I was cleaning and purging yesterday I knew I wanted to finish these.

I Challenge YOU!
I have a pile of stamps I’m getting ready to tackle this weekend for projects. I am pretty excited to use them because some have not EVER seen ink. Why do I do that??? Let’s challenge each other to create using a stamp set that hasn’t been used OR one that hasn’t seen a lot of ink. Will you join me?? Share if you do. I’d love to see.
Have an AWESOME weekend. XOXOXOXO
