A Happy Hooray | Stampin’ Up!
It’s Monday so let’s first give a Happy Hooray for THAT! Â It’s also the FIRST day of school here in our town and I’m happy as a lark. Â Yes, the kids are too. Â
I have great news to fill you in at the end of this post. Â Don’t miss it. Â It’s really a family Happy Hooray from our weekend. Â
Today’s share is a fun card using A Happy Hooray stamp set. Â This is a fun set with great geometrical images. Â
The Hi There image fits perfect in the Hexagon punch making this card fast. Â I used the Hexagon Textured Embossing folder along with the new Basics Kraft Stickers. Â
The Basic Kraft stickers have labels, circles and hexagons as well as a few triangles, pennants and hearts that you can use for multiple things.  Here I used the stickers on my card front to tie in the Hexagon.  You could also use the stickers to stamp on and place on  your envelopes.  For 2.95, you can’t go wrong. Â
I did have a little fun with the Bermuda Bay Twine. Â I wrapped in around the card front several times and then pulled the leftover twine through the ribbon. Â Just creating a unique tie. Â Again, this card is simple but I love how all the Hexagons come together. Â
You can see all the products I used on this card below.  Click the link and it will take you directly to my Online Store. Â
Time for a little Van Deep in Trouble update
On Friday I took Alexis to drop off her food, treats and toys for Dogs and Cats to the Humane Society. Â This girl has a burning passion for animals. Â She is working on her Bronze Award for Girl Scouts and this was her service project. Â She did a mighty fine job and collected a ton of food, treats and toys for the animals. Â When we took them to the Humane Society they were so grateful for the donations. Â Alexis was beaming. Â We also owe a HUGE thank you to our church family at Pine Summit Baptist Church for their giving hearts. Â She couldn’t have done this without them.Â
Of course you cannot go to the Humane Society without looking at the dogs and cats begging you to take them home. Â Lord… Help ME!!
Truth be told that 30 minute visit depressed me the entire rest of the day. Â I wanted to adopt every dog we had seen. Â It broke my heart to see them in there. Â Now don’t get me wrong. Â The facility was awesome. Â They were well cared for and loved. Â We’ve been talking about getting a dog for awhile. Â It’s only been since November that our dog Bailey passed away. Â She was just a 4 lb Chihuahua. Â
This time we wanted to get a bigger dog which is another reason we were waiting. Â We wanted Russ to be a little further in his recovery. Â
After Russ had seen our long faces on Friday night we decided to go back to the Humane Society and check out the dogs again. Â The kids and I were so excited. Â We could of stayed there all day to play with them. Â We had picked three doggies and the last one that we were playing with was the one that showed the most love to us. Â We were in love already. Â Something clicked. Â I am sure you understand that statement. Â
After going back to the car and thinking we would *think* on it, we couldn’t do it. Â We couldn’t leave our perfect dog. Â We ran (that’s NO joke!) back inside and signed the adoption papers and we were getting licked by our new furry friend. Â
After a few trips to the animals stores in town we were all set for her needs and ready to go home. Â We decided to go with the name Brin as she is Brindle in color. Â
So please meet our Brin:Â
Brin is  Plott Hound.  We had never heard of this breed but we were amazed at how friendly and alert she was.  We’ll be doing our research on her.  We do know one thing… she will be BIG. Â
Nothing more exciting than picking out your own toy, right?? Â She picked a stuffed moose and it’s her new friend. Â
You can sort of tell by the picture that we are in love. Â I felt like a new mom with an infant watching her sleep. Â
This face I couldn’t resist. Â I am in love. Â We all are. Â She’s about 40lbs now and she will get bigger. Â We are thinking around 50-55 pounds. Â Anyways, they are mighty big paws and she has a tongue like a giraffe. Â It will get you before you can say “STOP!” Â
We are in the potty training and overall behavior training.  We go tomorrow to the real training class.  Currently our puppy training is an epic fail.  Two accidents in the house so star.  We need to be more mindful of her cues.  It will come. Â
Anyways, we are a super happy family and I am so excited I can share her with you. Â Any pupping training tips are ALWAYS welcome. Â
Have a SPECTACULAR week and thank you for stopping by today!

Hi Kimberly,
Brin is beautiful. When we got our puppy 8 years ago, we tied a big bell (on a long ribbon) to the handle of the door that we would be using to take him out to potty. Every time we took him out we hit the bell. Pretty soon, he was just going to the door and nudging the bell with his nose to let us know that he needed to go out. It worked really well for us…give it a try.
God Bless and Congratulations on your new dog, Brin. She looks lovely. It was nice of you to take her to pick out her new toy. Vinegar and water usually work well on “accidents” on carpet. Good luck and Enjoy!
What a sweet puppy! Brin is so lucky to have you choose her to be a part of your family. Hope school goes well today for your kiddos and love the card….may have to get the feather stamp set..and the kraft stickers….and the hexagon punch… (UGH!!!) 🙂
Congratulations on your sweet puppy! I’m looking forward to seeing lots of pics in the coming months and years. It is so wonderful having a dog, so much unconditional love. But of course you know that from experience! My best puppy training tips are: first, train the kids to help…second, yes, watch those cues so you don’t go one step forward and two steps back…and three, crate training gives you and your doggie a feeling of security. Lots of exercise = happy and well behaved puppy, too! Have fun with your new addition!
Your card is wonderful – very nice neutral tones and then the splashes of Bermuda Bay made me smile! BIG CONGRATULATIONS on your new family member…Brin is gorgeous and love her name!!! She may continue to have a few more accidents as you both learn. Good for you taking puppy training classes right off the bat! Can’t wait to see and hear about her progress and pics of how she is growing!
Congratulations! Brin is one lucky ppch. We had never crate trained until our recent dog and it worked like a charm. It is also good knowing they are safe when you are not around – as we know they can get into mischief.
Best wishes.
You will love the Plot! We have 2 – both brindle. They are such people friendly dogs. Love ours.
So fabulous when you are chosen by one of these sweet babies! Lucky you, lucky Brin! Looking forward to more updates….I’m sure they will be filled with humor. Happy first week of school!
Congratulations to all for your new family member. How exciting for everyone! Thank you for giving Brin her forever home!!
As to the potty training – be proactive – don’t wait until you think she has to go – take her out every couple hours. When she does go potty outside give LOTS of praise. Some people even give a verbal cue when they are outside for them to go potty – like the words “hurry up”. That way your neighbors don’t hear you tell the dog to “go potty”. LOL. Praise really helps set up the good habits. Be consistent.
Also, you may consider attaching a set of bells (like a sleigh bell set) to the back door. Once our pups learned to use it – they ring the bell when they have to go outside! Once they are trained to use it you don’t have to worry as much every time they are out of sight. To get them used to using the bell we lifted their paws to ring the bell and immediately took them outside. If you are consistent with that, they will pick up on the cue soon. Be sure though that the bells don’t have big enough “holes” in them that her toenails could get hung up in them.
As to cleaning messes – Nature’s Miracle works great on fabric/carpet and hard surfaces.
Looking forward to hearing more about Brin and the family! How exciting!
Love your card and the colors! Thank you for your kindness in sharing and inspiring us.
CONGRATS on your new “baby”. Yes, you can see how much she? will be loved. Dogs need a lot more attention than cats but, with your young family the timing is perfect. It is a great way of teaching responsibility to kids too. So wonderful to see a sweet animal find a happy, loving home.
I am very happy to join your group. You’re a delightful writer, and I love picking up some of your Southernisms! You are an inspiring crafter and teacher. I’ve just read two posts, so I’m just beginning to learn about you and your family. I’d be glad to pray for y’all. Thanks for making me smile. 🙂
Thank you Pam. Thank you for taking the time to read my journey with crafting and my family. I appreciate you. XO
