Vellum… it’s so soft and beautiful but do YOU use your VELLUM?
I find that Vellum is like the pretty Designer Series Paper that sits on my shelf begging to be used yet collects dust because it’s too pretty to be used. I know there are a few of you out there just like me who do this? Then once you are ready to use it something even better comes out and now that beautiful paper sits again…
Stampin’ Up! has always had the best Cardstock Vellum on the market but this year they brought out TWO new beautiful vellum’s that I love called Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. This comes in both Gold and Silver. I found myself using the Gold more so today I want to share a card I created using the Silver Designer Vellum.
This vellum is perfect for Graduation, Anniversary or even Wedding invites. You will find both vellums come with beautiful pattens such as stripes, Polka Dots, and hearts perfect for any occasion. I used the Polka Dot pattern on this card above along with my Starburst framelit.
What made this card easy to create was the other coordinating products that Stampin’ Up! has. Note the Silver Twine. This worked perfectly to coordinate with my Designer Silver Vellum.
Tip: Use vellum to soften a pattern of designer paper by placing the vellum over the designer paper. When using adhesive, find a place where you can hide the adhesive so it will not show through the vellum.

Hi Kimberly, I’m like you…my pretty paper sits, and then just like you said, something prettier comes along! Years ago SU sold the most gorgeous printed vellum, little snowflakes, swirls, stuff like that. I used every last bit so I may have to try these new designs! I already bought the gold twine so I think I need the gold vellum! Thank you for all the great ideas, and all the recent updates on Russ. Wow, he has come a long way and you both look great in your recent photos! That’s your positive attitude shining through. I hope all this is just a distant memory before too long. I think of your family often and it’s so great that things are going well. 🙂 Laura
Oh, I use my vellum! I love it for journaling on scrapbook pages, I love to tear some and adhere it over busier portions of photos, and I recently used the gold heart patterened Fancy Foil vellum to create a giant envelope for a collage piece I’d made for someone.
Your cards are fantastic, and it is really nice to read updates on your family. My husband has health issues that affect his quality of life and when I see you and your husband smiling and laughing, it makes me happy to see other couples being each others’ rock.
I’m hoarding my Fancy Foil Vellums. However, your mix of textures on these cards has inspired me to pull it out and start using it. I so love the burlap ribbon (so much so that I bought three rolls, but I’m using that like mad!!) and pairing it with the vellum just seems so natural. Thanks so much for your inspiration.
