The Peacock

You know I'm a huge fan of birds.  While I think this Peacock is very pretty, it kinda gives me the creeps.  It brings me back to a time I worked at this assisted living place and the owner had a farm of animals outside the complex.  He felt that the animals were therapeutic.  Not for me.  In fact it was the opposite for me.  I love animals but not Peacocks that chase me.  Since then, I'm not a fan of peacocks.  I love how they spread their cute feathers but they are testy creatures. Just like me.  Don't ruffle my feathers or I become an ugly beast too.  Just ask my kids around 7pm each night.  It's about the time my feathers get ruffled.

Let's talk about this birdie.  I have lots of new products on this card.  The actual peacock images come from the stamp set Proud Peacock from the Summer Mini.  I love the other birds in the stamp set but Proud Peacock was calling to be inked first.  I rock n rolled the birdie in Pool Party ink first and then I used the Island Indigo (LOVE this color) on the outer edge of the bird.  I punched the image out using a 1 3/4" Circle punch and then popped it up on the 2 1/2" Circle punch.  The base of the card uses Pool Party cardstock with the Lace Ribbon Border punch across the card x3 using the same color. Tip: When you get this punch in your hot little hands, use Crystal Effects or the Tombow Glue to adhere this border to your cards! This rocks my world when using tone on tone.  I love how it looks.  I added two other colors to the mix, Rich Razzleberry and Lucky Limeade cardstock. I used the 2 1/2" Circle punch once again.

I have LOADS of my favorite paper, First Edition DSP and punched two Decorative Label punches and added these to the circle punches.  These cardstock circles are staying in place by using the NEW Designer Printed Brads in our new In Colors.  SWEET! They are so pretty!

Last, I added a sentiment.  Oh… and I spritzed the card with Shimmer Mist and used my Spritzer Tool to add a splash of color onto the Peacock.

No worries, your eyes are not out of focus.  My picture is. <pout>  You can see the Peacock pretty good still. I think my glasses need to be cleaned??

Not much longer and the new catalog will go live.  Since we are still waiting, grab your favorite drink or cocktail and take a trip down memory lane with your current catalog.  What stamp set are you dying to see more inspiration with? Is there something I can work on this week? Before our time runs out, let's USE it!  If there is something you cannot live without, take a moment to view the Online Store.  Check out the Last Chance list and whatever you do, DON'T forget the Digital Downloads.  They are HOT right now.  Sizzle!

Have a GREAT Wednesday! We are halfway through the week.  WOOT!

XOXOXO

  1. Hi:) I am new to your blog (past month) and I just love keeping up with your posts and your incentive trip:) thanks for making me laugh and sharing a little bit of your world. I love your creations and just wanted to say hi:)

  2. I love your card (and I'm not a bird person). I like the tone-on-tone. Is it only June 15th? I want to order from the new catalog!!!

Very pretty card – I would not have thought to add the other two colors but it pops!  Love that new punch and can't wait to get one…and more goodies!

No one wanted to see a specific retiring set used by you?  Well, I have a list of 76 stamp sets that are retiring that I'd love to see!  But I'll limit it to two – Kimono Kids and More Monkey Accessories (I got it for the wagon).  Neither of these have seen ink and I'm ashamed to admit that!  Yes, I'm a demo and I have a ton of stamp sets!
Thanks for your inspiration – LOVE it when you have something new to read on your blog!
