Celebrating Life & Prince

Celebrating Life & Prince

Celebrating today… I guess you can call it that.  Celebrating the life of Prince.  How can it be true?

After hearing the news about Prince today I’ve had a rush of amazing memories from my teen years listening to his music.

Celebrating, Prince

I can’t believe he’s gone.

One of the most creative music artists in my book.  He could be a little freakish, but I was totally attracted to that.  Most of all I loved his music and probably the only artist that I knew every word when I sang his tunes. That says a lot as I typically mumble many words to songs I love because I can’t remember the words.   I loved his music that much.

I’ve celebrated his life by listening to every song he has written.  I was frantic looking for one of his CD’s in the house. Still haven’t found it. Sigh….

As I was listening it brought back more memories of sitting by the radio waiting for one of his songs to play so I could record it.  Yes, I did that.  Did you? Remember when the radio guy would keep talking while you were trying to record your favorite tune? Those were the BEST tapes.

I had a list of things to get done today.  It didn’t happen.  Instead I’ve tested the patience of my children as I’ve made them listen to Prince all evening.  At one point I think I heard one of them say, “Not again!”

I think I’ll  listen to a few more of his songs….

Celebrating Life

Last night I pulled many retired sets off my shelf that I wanted to make sure had lots of ink before I say goodbye to them.  The stack was a little overwhelming, but I tackled it.

I have many cards to share with you.  I was on a roll last night.

By the Tide

Celebrating, By the Tide, Stampin' Up!

By the Tide is a stamp set that has not been lonely.  It’s been a well loved set for many many years especially for this beach loving girl.  You can see a few cards I created below.  You may remember a few of them.

I wanted to try a different color combination and I love how it turned out.

Of course I wanted the Lobster to be red, but I didn’t want the red to dominate the entire card.  I used a Sponge Dauber to add the Blushing Bride ink around the center of the lobstah (said in my New England accent!)

Celebrating, By the Tide, Stampin' Up!

I added a few other stamp sets to this card-

Gorgeous Grunge was perfect to add a little texture.

Rose Wonder was perfect for the greeting.  I also love that label framelit that coordinates.

Sadly, the Corrugated White cardstock is on the retired list.  If you love to add texture to your projects, this is definitely a GREAT purchase.  I’ve used the Kraft corrugated more than the white, however it comes in one pack together.  I will definitely miss having this to use.

The last thing I added to this card was a few White Perfect Accents.  These are excellent to add a little bling to a project without the bling bling.  Does that make sense? Ha ha ha!

April Hostess Code, Stampin' Up!

Thanks for letting me spill my guts about Prince.  I do feel like I’m celebrating a music legend.  He had incredible talent.

I’m curious how many other Prince fans are out there.  What was your favorite song? Did you ever see him in concert?

Seeing him in concert was on my bucket list.  Sigh…..

Love you!

Create Your Own Flower Shop

Create Your Own Flower Shop

Isn’t it a beautiful thing that as a paper crafter we can create out own flower shop?

Indeed, with a few fun flower stamps we can create beautiful flowers and launch spring into overdrive instead of a snails pace.

Today I felt like a flower shop as I was stamping away with my Flower Shop stamp set.  A set I’ve rarely used but a gorgeous one that has a coordinating punch making my flower arranging easy peasy.

Flower Shop, Stampin' Up!

A Crafty Concoction!

I’m still on a pretty hefty mission to find my creative mojo.  Yes, I’m creating.  BUT….it’s been a bit forced lately.  That’s not a feeling I like.  I like the natural creative flow of things.  When it all comes together easily.  Do you know what I mean?  You will see what I mean on Wednesday…. *squealing*

Anyways, I had an array of products on my desk that I wanted to use.  Buttons was the #1!  I have buttons coming out of my ears there are SO many.  For some reason I never use them anymore.  That changed today.

Flower Shop, Stampin' Up!

My beautiful buttons came to life.  YAY!

Once I had all my flowers stamped and punched using my Pansy Punch, I placed a coordinating button onto each of the centers.

I also decided to pull out one of my favorite sets Gorgeous Grunge.  I added a few images behind the flowers such as the splatter and diagonal lines.  I loved how that Tangelo Twist ink looked against the blues and yellow.  It screamed Spring/Summer to me.

The small strip of coordinating paper across the card is from the Cherry On Top Designer Series Paper Pack.   It was the perfect addition for this card.  Little tiny polka dots that match the splatter background.

Flower Shop, Stampin' Up!

The last thing to add was a greeting and I wanted to go BOLD.  I picked out a greeting from the Bravo stamp set and I loved how it filled the entire space below the flowers.

Can I tell you a secret?

I did a little jig after I created this card.  Yep.  I was that excited.

Because I used products that were screaming to be loved and I felt the creativity flowing.  Not forced.  All natural creativity.

I also found a box of Girl Scout cookies in my pantry.  I just managed to eat 80% of the box while typing this.  I’m pretty sure that was not a great idea.

Be Inspired- Handmade Creativity!

Be Inspired- Handmade Creativity!

I was sitting here cleaning up my computer and noticed there was a lot of creativity that has not been shared.  I’m not sure how these cards were missed, but I’m excited to share them.

Let’s jump in.  I hope you are inspired on this GREAT Saturday!

There are THREE projects total so make sure you scroll all the way through.

This is another one of my swaps I had created for this years Stampin’ Up! Convention.

You know how much I love my doggies.  I fell in love with this stamp set because the doggies are so ADORABLE and the sentiments were perfect.

I also used the Kinda Eclectic and Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  Two stamp set that can coordinate with any stamp set.

This next project was a quick gift tag I needed for a sweet treat I created for a friend.  While I was away at convention I had a friend who helped me immensely with car pooling Alexis to the gym.  She went out of her way to get my girl.  We were so grateful.
I love the stamp set Remarkable You.  This is a BEAUTIFUL flower stamp and wide open for coloring.  I colored this using Chameleon Pens on Stampin’ Up!’s Watercolor Paper.
Remarkable You stamp set, Gift Tag, Stampin' Up!
You might see a few flecks of gold around the flower edges.  I used a Wink of Stella Gold pen to get that little sparkle.  I loved how this turned out.  It was one of those gifts I almost didn’t want to give away. LOL.

It’s a MUST have on my list.

Yes, a little fussy cutting but honestly it’s SO worth it.

Banner Blessings | Stampin’ Up!

Banner Blessings | Stampin’ Up!

How often do you send a card to your church family and friends? I have to sadly admit that sending cards lately has been WAY off my radar.

Yes, I’ve been making them like a mad woman but they are sitting in a very cute box near my desk.  They are aching to be sent.  We all know this is not how it’s supposed to be.  The truth is there is no excuse.  I can’t even blame it on time.  We all know it takes time to make a card and less time to put an address and stamp on it.

I took this to heart this week and I’m sending cards.  I’ll be sending lots of them.  In fact, I have a list of different groups of people I’m sending them too.  From customer friends (they are all friends btw), church friends, family friends, best friends… you get the point.  It’s time to send some CARDS!

Banner Blessings stamp set, Stampin' Up!
I’m super excited to send out these cards using the Banner Blessing stamp set to all of my Bible Study participants.  We have ONE week left of this 9 week study.  These ladies are pretty BRAVE.  Taking time to do a bible study is never easy. I’m so thankful and grateful they have stuck with it.

Banner Blessings stamp set, Stampin' Up!
To create this card I used Stampin’ Up! notecards.  I love the size, 3 1/2 x 5.

I stamped the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set using Sahara Sand ink first.  Then I spritzed my doilies using two different inks.  Strawberry Slush and Pistachio Pudding.  I added A LOT of re-inker.  I still have shimmer paint on hand so I also added that to my shimmer bottles to spray.  The doilies are torn randomly. I love how they look a little tattered.  Each card is different.

The greeting was stamped in Coastal Cabana or Strawberry Slush and then die cut using the Chalk Talk Framelit Dies.

The strip of DSP is from the Best Year Ever Sale-a-Bration paper and lastly a button was added from the Sweet Dreams Designer Buttons.

Banner Blessings stamp set, Stampin' Up!
Banner Blessings is a fantastic stamp set to use for quick notes like the ones above.  I encourage you today to look around your desk and find some cards to send out today.  Truly… it’s how we make a difference in the lives of others. It’s loving on someone through the mail.  What a GREAT way to make someone smile.

Housekeeping Issues….

No, we are NOT cleaning house… but I do have some important things you should know.

First, be aware that our Blendabilities are currently on backorder for an extended time period.  Stampin’ Up! recognized a quality issue.  While this is a BIG FAT BUMMER, I’m extremely grateful they are looking into these issues.  The big question is how long will this last? As of right now they are unsure but I will keep you posted as more news comes available.

I realize this is a bigger bummer for those looking to use them for Sale-a-Bration rewards.

I have another solution that might get you a bit excited.

Stampin’ Up! brought out 4 NEW Sale-a-Bration products.  They are OH SO CA-UTE!!  Check them out…

Oh, I can’t forget to share this with you…. It’s been awhile since my Prince picked up his darling daughter.  I mean PHYSICALLY picked her up.  Now, keep in mind I had to snap the picture QUICK so it’s not the best but kinda made me cry. First, he is using his RIGHT arm to hold her up.  That’s huge!  Second, if you look closely to his right bicep you can see a bit of muscle.  Russ and I kinda giggle over his itty bitty muscle but the reality is it’s getting bigger.  His hard work is showing.  We thank you for your continued prayers.  XOXO

… and the big girl in the picture just needs to STOP growing.  That is ALL.
Have a FATABULOUS day.
