Saying Goodbye to Johnny!

Say it isn't so! They are dumping my Johnny???  No Johnny, please don't go!

It's one of my favorite sets. It's been well loved.  I am sad to see it go.  Very sad.  It could be the ONE set that collects dust bunnies on my shelf over the next couple of years.  Do you do that? Do you have a retired set that YOU seriously cannot get rid of only to find it sits on your shelf and becomes a dust bucket? Okay, this will be mine.  I only have 7 sets.  This will be #8!  Let's chat about this card!

First, let me tell you why I really love this card! It was created at am while talking with one of my besties.  We laughed so hard over the ohhh's and ahhh's during the creation.  Screaming to each other, "No Johnny, don't GO!" Sending photos through our iPhone's back and forth and then more laughs.  I have missed that am belly laughing! Can you imagine two grown women acting so silly?

This card has a few things that are retiring, some that are Summer Mini new, some that retired LONG ago (total mistake!) and even a "sneaky peek" in it too.  It's what I call LOADED! Kinda like baked potatoes!

Onward…

So, I started with Melon Mambo textured cardstock.  I haven't checked the stock of 12 x 12 retiring cardstock yet but if textured is your thing… GET IT! I stamped the skull from the Beware Pirates stamp set in VersaMark and embossed it with that yummy Melon Mambo embossing powder in the Summer Mini.  You cannot see it very well in the picture.  I matted this on Basic Black cardstock and placed the silver brads along the left edge for fun.

The stamped Johnny on the Whisper White cardstock and then took the script image from The Open Sea (WOW, LOVE!) and stamped over Johnny using Basic Gray ink stamped off a bunch of times.  I punched this out using my beloved 2 1/2" Circle punch.  Guess what? Johnny is matted on a pretty cool scallop circle.  It's NEW and it's actually a Sizzix Die Cut.  I love it because it has cool punched designs in it.  The sentiment comes from the Happy Greetings stamp set.  Noticed how much use I have gotten from that silly set lately.  Love that.

To finish this card I placed it on one of my favorite Halloween DSP's that was actually laid to rest ALONG time ago. Yes, I just figured it out as I was putting this post together.  Phooie!!!!!!!!!!!!! Imagine that it's on this Halloween Designer Paper!!

Get over to my Online Store.  There is still time to get the last minute things you cannot live without.  Thanks for stopping by tonight.  I'm still rocking n rollin' in my stamp room.  This feels SUPER!

P.S. Alexis is feeling better.  Double ear infection and pink eye.  Jeesh! Chaos is what gets us through each day, really!

One more look at Johnny!

  1. If chaos wasn't given to us, we'd have to create it!  Fortunately you have been given it, so your creativity can go to your cards!  : )   You created a super cute card here.

Acting silly at any age is the best way to be and gets us through a lot more than we realize…don't let that go!!!!!!!!  This is a wonderful card and I love that you used so many other combinations to make it so…and the splash of Melon Mambo is wonderful….great job!  Glad Alexis is on the mend…hugs to her and to yourself and your son…!

  3. I love that card!  Which old Halloween DSP is that?  I Thought that I had the last four or five year's DSP, but I must of missed that one.  I would hoard that one as well.
I am sad to see this set go as well, especially since they did not replace it with another pirate set.  Great card, love it.  Glad to see you back in the stampin room!
