Miss Him

We're plowing through day by day but the truth of the matter is I miss him so much every day.  Skype is my new best friend and I try to stay busy as possible so I don't dwell on the incomplete piece that is missing inside this house.  I am lucky enough that many of my friends listen to me whine, most of all my mom.  She's been through this exact thing a few times when my dad was in Korea.  When Russ was gone on the ship for 6 month deployments I didn't whine too much to her.  She would throw up the hand and say, "Now listen here, your daddy was gone for two tours each 13 months long! I don't want to hear it.  We didn't have technology like you do today!"  She was just talking about a phone back then.  Ha.  Boy have times changed today.  Funny how I can hear her say that like it was yesterday.  It was 5 years ago that he was deployed. Time flys… except during a deployment.  Ha! This deployment my Mom lets me whine, however she always brings me to see the brighter side of a day. There really is a bright spot everyday.  Some days we  have to look really hard, but eventually you find it.  My bright spot today would be the school secretary.  She knows how to make me smile!

Since I missed him so much I thought I would send a card.  I know cards are always a way to make someone's day brighter.  It's TOTALLY girlie.  I am sure he will not mind.  Besides, it's all about what I put inside the card.  Bwhahahahah! I dabbled with a few new products too.  Let me share!

There are lots of products on this card, believe it or not.  New and older products. Let's start off with the color of cardstock.  Isn't it fresh and fun? It's called Pool Party.  It's a new In Color for this year.  I love it more of the antique feel it brings me.  You know how you walk into an antique store and they have glass this color? I love it.  It's going to be a favorite color of mine.  I stamped my chairs onto Whisper White cardstock using the Pool Party ink.  The chairs come from the set Have a Seat.  It's sticking around, no worries. Even the sentiment I chose is sticking around.  This comes from Three Little Words. GREAT sentiments in this set.  I also stamped that in Pool Party.

The bottom piece has a layered border punch that I used.  The punch is new and it's cool.  It's called Lace Ribbon Border. I think you are really going to like the way this looks.  The nice part is you can use this for scrapbooking too.  Great compliment to any craft project.  I love the tone on tone look.  By adding the ribbon border punch and the ribbon it made the card soft and girlie. Just perfect for Russ.

I added a little Shimmer Mist over the entire base of the card before I started assembling it.  Just made it pretty.

There you have a little sneak peek into what's to come.  Don't forget to check out my Online Store this week in the Last Chance section.  Lots of great stamp sets going bye bye.

Have a fabulous Monday.  Make it the BEST Monday ever. More inspiration tomorrow!

This is a wonderful card – beautiful colors…and I think anyone would love to receive it – but most especially your Prince and with the wonderful 'story' you will have to tell him inside…   Keep up the good work of staying busy and whining where you can…and you can to us as well.

  2. Kim, what a beautiful card. You keep that chin up girl, because you are doing a great job even on those "cloudy" days. I know your prince will love this card – everything you made is just fabulous! 🙂

  3. I love this card. It is beautiful and I'm sure Russ will appreciate it, too. I know you are glad your mom is there for you. Take it day by day.

  4. May God Bless you and your family and bring your Prince home safely!!  Hang in there girl, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel.

I know how tuff this is for you.  My daughterinlaw is also having a tough time , this time.  You see my son is in the Marine corp.  During his five tours to iraq it was only 6-7 months, but this time it is 13months to afganistan.  And like you, the computer and skype, is our best friend.  My grandson is in Irag, and my granddaughter is staying with us, while he is gone.  I keep you and your family in my prayers.  I wish  there was more I could do.  God Bless, Linda

  6. I really really  love reading your comments and seeing your cards, and your kids are adorable.
