I must be drawn to my kinder years with handwritten projects and Chalk Art! I fell in love with Chalk Art back last year and have created many projects using Chalk Art.
As I was thinking about what to share today I was drawn to using Stampin’ Up!’s new Chalk Markers and giving it a whirl on Basic Black Cardstock. Now I will admit that God did give me one great gift and that’s handwriting. I love to write and even have an obsession with markers and pens. Eek. Don’t leave yours laying around me because I have sticky fingers when it comes to pens. I might snatch it.
Practice, Practice!
Before I started creating this card I pulled out a Basic Black cardstock piece and started doodling to see how smooth the Marker would be. I was very impressed with our Chalk Marker. I did notice the Black cardstock absorbed the ink FAST. To remedy this I went over my handwritten sentiment twice. This made the Chalk Art stand out more.
Chalk Art Application
I didn’t do anything crazy fancy just a simple swirly gig and Thank You. I added a little heart and a couple of dots to make it pretty. Once this was done I just went over it again. I let the marker dry for a second or two and then used my embossing buddy gently over the entire Basic Black cardstock. This gave it the “chalk board” look. You could also gently sponge Whisper White ink around the edges of the Basic Black cardstock. Don’t over due it. This can make a card go from pretty to ugly in 2 seconds FLAT!
Add a Tiny Banner
I love the little banner punch from our Sale-a-Bration catalog and decided to make a banner at the bottom of my Chalk Art piece and gently sewed this onto the Basic Black cardstock.
Time to Add the Accessories!
I wanted to add a little texture to this card so I used the Arrows Textured Impressions Folder. The best part was opening my cute Fresh Prints Paper Stack. Yes, I blew off a BUNCH of dust bunnies from this paper. Hands down this is my favorite Paper Stack we’ve had. Awesome colors and patterns.
To finish the card off I used a few buttons to coordinate with my card.
Try using your handwriting on a card and even better try out some Chalk Art using our Chalk Marker. It’s so easy and fun.

Fabulous job….yes, see that the chalk marker is a bit difficult on all of our dark c/s!
The trick is to go over it twice… the problem with that is having a steady hand to go over it perfectly. Too much coffee on board didn’t help me. LOL.
