Getting Personal

Since it's a Tuesday, I thought I'd make this a Two for Tuesday type of day and share two posts.  I've been wanting to share one of my most FAVORITE projects with you for a long time and either keep putting it off or keep forgetting.  While Russ was deployed I wanted to work on a scrapbook album of our months apart from him.  A book on the run down of our daily lives while he was away.  I had promised him lots of pictures during the deployment so why not put them to good use.  Well, three weeks before he came home I was working furiously on getting this album completed.  In my true procrastinating fashion I waited until the last minute to finish the project.  All 100 pages of it.  I had no idea it would be that many pages and I was quite worried about what the cost would be but VERY happy in the end when my *most* favorite project EVER cost me $124.  Best money I've ever spent.  Best money because it's memories that I'll cherish forever.  This book would not have taken so long had I not written a novel on almost every page.  I really paid attention to the journaling and not so much the beauty behind the page details.  A first for me.

I presented this book to Russ at Christmas time and watched tears flow as he read it.  The book has many raw emotions on how the kids dealt with the deployment and it has lots of funny moments too.  This is a book each one of us treasure. It tells our story. I've made the book into a slide show so I can share it.  Again, it's a pretty big book and I'll share a few of my favorite pages in the future. This book is 8.5 x11.

I encourage you to take a look at MDS and put together a book for yourself.  My next book I'm going to work on will be about my own legacy.  🙂  ALL ABOUT ME. WHOA, that could be a big book. I'll call it "The Good, Bad & Ugly!"

You can click to make the video full screen and you will be able to read the journaling if you wish.  Just pause the video and read along.

Stay tuned.  I'll post again later this morning with the new MDS downloads for the day and a layout.

XOXOXO

  1. What a fabulous book for Russ.  this is something you will all cherish forever.  I can see why Russ would tear up…..   I did as well!!

  2. Kimberly I hope to learn more about MDS and start doing more with it.  I wish I were as talented as you in the digital.  I am just starting to get my feet wet on it.  You always inspire me and I just love all your creations.  This is truely a work of art and filled with memories.  You are a strong woman to have endured all the time away from your prince (I love how you call him that). I am so happy you are finally able to have him  home.
    Love Debi Pippin

  5. Wow. I've been on over-drive all day but I'm so glad I sat down long enough to click that link and view your album. I have a lump in my throat.  Beautifully done – the photos, the MDS layouts, but most importantly those kiddos of yours. What wonderful people you have created!  Well done! God Bless you all.

  6. Just jump in Debi. It’s easy once you open it up and just play. Work with the templates that Stampin’ Up! has made. This will help in the beginning. 🙂

  7. Kimberly,
Your album is AWESOME! I get your blog feeds and love hearing about you and your family as well as all your great projects. I think your $124 was well spent!

  8. What a great memory book.  The tears came for me also and I do not know you on a personal basis.  What a lovely job although I am sure it was not easy. The best $124 you will ever spend!
