Project Life: What Else Can I Do?

Project Life: What Else Can I Do?

Oh goodness.  I’m getting addicted to this little Project Life thing.  There are so many great things that you can do with these Project Life cards.

There is a problem though… they are so pretty I want to frame them.  Sigh!

Instead I got a little creative and used my Silhouette Cameo and cut the sun from an MDS SVG file.  I just love it.

Now it’s time to put this card together using my Project Life Everyday Adventures from Stampin’ Up!

Make Creative Cards

The card is layered onto a Whisper White cardstock base and then I layered a few of the cards.  Super simple and a FAST card.

I stamped the Life is Good greeting using the Project Life Remember This photopolymer stamp set.

I stitched a small piece of the Bermuda Bay cardstock texture embossed with the Arrow embossing folder and also added a piece of the White Filter Paper under it.  Love how this looked on the card.

 What Else Can I do?

Here is where you can Step it Up a Notch.  Our new Espresso 6 x 8 Project Life Album is amazing.  The best part is that you can embellish to YOUR desire.  Oh my word.  Isn’t that fantastic???

I had a ball creating a fun album cover on mine.  The possibilities are endless with this.

With just a few pieces of fun embellishments and Designer Paper you can get crazy with these albums.  R E A L L Y!!

New Trick Using the Silhouette Cameo

New Trick Using the Silhouette Cameo

While this may be old news to others, I have a new found trick with the Silhouette Cameo that made me squeal with happiness.

Today I’m going to share my new trick and it’s part of the Add a Little Dazzle Challenge #27.

Our inspiration photo today was this beautiful Rainbow Rose below.  You can use any color in the photo or if you’re like me, I thought they were all pretty so I decided to make a Rainbow card.

Silhouette Cameo using Metal Sheets

First, using all of these colors is WAY WAY outside of my comfort zone.  I almost needed sunglasses to make it. They are BRIGHT. That said, once the card was created, I loved it.

Using the Silhouette with Metal Sheets

When you are using your Silhouette Cameo with materials other than cardstock you will have to adjust the settings so that the blade depth is far enough to cut the material you are using.  This is also true for the speed and thickness setting as well.

Most of the time I use the standard cut settings that Silhouette provides on my Cameo and only adjust my blade setting accordingly.  When using the Metal Sheets from Add a Little Dazzle I set my blade depth between 8-9. One cloud cut perfectly at 8 and the smaller one cut perfectly at 9.

Before you actually make the cut I would recommend a test cut.  By test cutting this will make a small square cut on your material to see if your settings are correct and that it will cut.

I placed my metal sheet on my cutting mat just as I would my cardstock and then changed my speed to 8 and thickness to 12.

The clouds are an SVG file from My Digital Studio.  It’s one of the many favorite things I love about the My Digital Studio software from Stampin’ Up! If you are unsure how to export or import your SVG file from My Digital Studio to your Silhouette, click HERE to view a video I created.

Once the Silhouette has completed the cut carefully pull your metal sheet from the cutting mat.  Then I embossed my metal using the Chevron Embossing Folder in my Big Shot.

My Digital Studio, Silhouette Cameo

To create the rest of the card I used a rainbow of colors and two new Stampin’ Up! In Colors- Blackberry Bliss and Tangelo Twist on the Natural Composition Specialty paper.  LOVE this Natural paper.  It’s embossed already so this made Emboss Resisting EASY PEASY using a sponge and ink.

I stamped the greeting using Perfect Pennants stamp set using the Tangelo Twist ink pad.  I did a quick stitch at the top of the greeting using my sewing machine and added a tiny piece of doily to the side.  Once I punched my stars the card was complete.

You can see all the supplies I used below for this card.  If you are up for a fun challenge, head over to Add a Little Dazzle and play along or just be inspired by other artists.

Around the World We Go!

Around the world we go, would you like to join me?  Okay, maybe we can stay state side… but I am going on a little trip and I’m excited.

Stampin’ Up! is holding a Catalog Premiere the end of April all around the United States for Demonstrators.  When the announcement happened I was a little giddy.  We would be the first to see the NEW catalog and receive GOODIES.

I scrambled to see the list of cities and the closest to my city was Birmingham, Al.  I had to sit and give this thought.  It would be the first time I was leaving the Prince since the stroke.  Russ and I chatted about it and he is doing so great.  I think it could happen.

Next I called my mom who is also a demonstrator.  I said, “Wanna go on a little road trip?”  When she said she’s in I immediately thought of Thelma and Louise.  This could be interesting.  Now I’m giddy and April 28th is going to be a F.U.N day.

Believe it or not… YOU could join us.  I’ll talk about that at the end of the post.

Let’s chat about my Around the World We Go card…

I’m still on a mission to pull stamp sets that haven’t been used and Designer Series Paper that I am hoarding.  YES, hoarding.

Around the World, Wanderlust, Silhouette Cameo

Create it!!

Tips to create this card:

  • I started this card by getting all of my elements together first.  Cutting the suitcases, die cutting the Starburst and cutting the “fun” with my Silhouette Cameo.
  • You will see small strips of DSP and ribbon added first.  I like to keep strips of DSP to 3/4″ or smaller except for the final strip which I layered all the elements onto.  This strip is 1″.
  • The word FUN was cut using my Silhouette Cameo. Oh how I love that.
  • All elements are layered on a larger Starburst die cut.
  • The “Splatter” was created using a stamp from Paper Pumpkin.  If you love EXCLUSIVE stamp images, I encourage you to sign up for Paper Pumpkin.  I use these images all the time for my stamping projects.
  • The Sale-a-Bration Sweet Sorbet Accessory Kit with the THREE colors of thread is a must have.  First, the coordinate with our colors.  Second, you can do many fun things using the thread.  Here I only used TWO strands.  I wrapped it in a circle many times and then stuck behind all of my elements.  I love this small detail.

You can view all the supplies at the end of the post.  Click on the links and you can purchase directly in my Online Store.  The Clearance Rack has some great finds for 80% OFF.  Yikes.  Check it out.

At Last- Convention Gifts!

I'm coming to the end of my sharing of things I personally made during the Stampin' Up! Convention and at last, it's my Convention Gifts.

Like I said in yesterday's post about the Roomie Gifts, I needed to simplify becasue I didn't have a lot of time with the upcoming move and everyday life.  The great thing about this year's convention was the amount of downline I had attending.  It was the largest group I've had to date.  Being this was the 25th anniversary, I was glad to see many attended.

When creating convention gifts for my downline this year, I wanted to keep them simple but still a WOW. The new Tag a Bag gift bags were a perfect solution this year.

Convention Gifts, Stampin' Up!

If you are looking to create small handmade gifts, the Tag a Bag Gift Bags (#131370) will not only save you time, but once decorated they look SO fancy.

Convention Gifts, Stampin' Up!

With just a few pieces of Ribbon and a Tea Doily,  I hot glued the embellishments onto the bag with ease.  I created the Tag from My Digital Studio and printed from my home printer.  Once printed I punched the image using my 2 1/2" Circle punch and then hot glued the circle punch to the Burlap.

These were finished in no time at all.  Inside I placed my swap card along with a package of Rhinestones becasue these demonstrators are Gem's for coming to convention.

I also placed this little card inside the bag.

Convention Gifts, Stampin' Up!

This is a simple 3 x 3 card with a little note inside.  I used the Silhouette Cameo to cut the feathers and these were created quickly.

As you can see I was able to create fun and fast projects that were not only handmade but had a little wow factor as well.

Below you can find all the supplies to create these projects to recreate for yourself.

I Get Super Excited When…

…everything I am working on comes together.  Do you?

Let's face it.. As an avid paper crafter I have a lot of STUFF!!  What is SO fantastic is when all that STUFF comes together and makes a fun project.

I spend much of my time using My Digital Studio for digital scrapbooking layouts. While it's SUPER fantastico for that, there are so many other great things you can do with it.  It's super fun to create hybrid cards.  See how I created this fun card below.

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

I started this card using Whisper White cardstock.  I used the For the Grad Trifold Template.  I created a blank canvas in My Digital Studio and applied the Congrats Grad to my canvas.  Once I had my size for the card I was creating I sent this to my home printer and printed on Whisper White cardstock.

Kimberly Van Diepen, Stampin' Up!

To create the Grad cap I used the Embark Graduate Ensemble.  This kit includes 79 SVG Stamp Brushes which is perfect to import into your e-Cutter.  I exported the Grad Cap into my Silhouette Cameo and then changed the size to fit my card.  I had the Silhouette cut the cap onto Early Espresso cardstock.  Once that was cut I used two builder wheels (Travel Journal #126937 and Linked Lace -Retired) inked with Early Espresso to add a little texture to the cap.

Once all of my elements were created it was time to assemble the card.  Becasue both of my grads were girls I decided to add a tea doily to make it frilly.  I've also dusted one of my very neglected edgelits and put it to use.

Overall, this card came together with a lot of love.  Many elements that I love all in one place.  That is paper SUCCESS!

Ready to give it a whirl?
