21 Days Forms a Habit…

You've heard this saying before, right? Do something or quit something for 21 days and you form a habit? I thought I would share a little 21 day journey that I'm currently involved with.  I've even dragged a few friends with me.  I believe that together you become MORE powerful when you are trying to make a change.

As you know a few weeks ago I was pretty sick with that icky awful sinus infection.  During that time frame I knew that many things could be contributing to my "I just don't feel GREAT" self.  My jeans don't fit like I want, I wasn't exercising and water intake is just not my gig. I could list about 10 more things but then I would REALLY be telling on myself!!  Since I turned 40 my entire mind and body has been going through these CRAZY changes.  Oh my heavens!

An online friend started her 21 day challenge while I was sick.  She kept posting her journey on Instagram and every day I would read it. It became an obsession to watch for the posts to come through and her message was ALWAYS so inspiring and uplifting.  I hadn't moved a muscle off my chair and already my brain was starting to "feel better!"  Pretty powerful, really!

8 days ago I started my journey to get back in control of my physical self and I knew that my emotional and mental self would follow suit.  I was 100% right.  The journey has not be easy at ALL. Remember, the words "workout" or "Exercise" have not been muttered from my lips EVER. Like 40 years EVER!  They still don't come out EASY.  But that's okay. It's part of my journey.  I thought I would share a little bit of my journey with you in the photos that I post on Instagram.  I also made a little "Pennant" book for myself to keep in front of my face with little motivating facts and quotes.

You can follow along my journey HERE with Instagram.  I *heart* Instagram!

You can bet this 21 Day Challenge will be plopped directly into a scrapbook!

To keep my journey STRONG, I wanted something that I could pick up when I'm feeling defeated or discouraged.  Motivational quotes are always uplifiting to me.  I put together this fun little Pennant book filled with a few of my favorite quotes and the This and That Epic Day product line was PERFECT to use with the inspirational quotes on the stickers. *LOVE*

  1. Kimberly,
You are always motivational with your daily posts! Life is short; do what you like, like what you do! Life is good:)

  2. Such dedication and motivation — I, too have had a "challenge" since I turned 60 (!!omg) this year — since I had been experiencing increasing hip pain…long story short, 6 weeks ago today had the surgery to replace the hip…npow for the Physical Therapy that is trying to get me back to the shape I was in 30 years ago (lol – that's the surgeon's goal…)…I have decided that the only way it's gonna get done is if I do it!  Will have to get a motivational journal done to remind me why I need to get it done!!!  Thank you for your posts…they always inspire me!

  3. YOU GO GIRL. I really need to get motivated. My doctor is not going to be too happy with me. I started to work out but stopped, why? I have no idea, other things I guess. My 40's were very tough for me. I went through major changes, depression, panic attacks and anxiety. That perimenopause thing. UGH. Now I say hmmmmmm, I will be 51 in July, and I am still in that rut. Well, I need a pennant book too because I promise myself that now is the time. I know that no one can change me and I'm sure not going to go to sleep and wake up in better shape. I'm seeing everyone around me changing and I am staying the same. What am I waiting for? I know I always say UGH, if only I would have stuck to that routine, I would be in such better shape by now. I know it's never too late and I am going to start, even if it's just slowly at first 🙂

  4. You can do it girlfriend!!! You'll feel so good even when you don't feel like it—-do it and you will feel better!! I'm gettin back to working out so I'm going to keep my eye in you…we can pull each other along the way!!! I'm so darn proud if you!!!

  5. Good job!  I do not have Instagram (don't really know what it is haha) so I hope you keep posting your progress on your blog for us dummies!
I am also trying to get more fit!  This winter was a rough one on my body.  Now that the weather is starting to get a little warmer (Nebraska) I can hopefully get out and walk more.
    Thanks for the motivation 🙂

  7. I'd be absolutely lost without my FitBit!  Something that small can be that smart and empowering…..it's awesome!  Great job!  Keep us posted!

  8. I have a love hate relationship with it. I love it because it’s so motivating. I hate it when it tells me I can’t eat anymore. LOL.

  9. I’ll be posting them here to Gail. 🙂 I agree that this winter was brutal. Which is one reason why I’m on the “get fit” bandwagon. Too many comfort foods this winter. LOL.

  10. Love the inspiration of your book. It stopped me from that second piece of candy! How's that for inspiration? Weight Watchers is the wagon I fell off, so now to climb back on. I love your version of the smash book. So creative, and using tools you have for your own purpose. I especially love your entry "Live to shed joy on others." Thanks for the beautiful inspiring post. What IS instagram? Susan

  11. Susan, you literally just cracked me up!! Climb back on. We all fall off the wagon. It’s human nature. I do this in all facets of my life and not on purpose just lack of willpower sometimes. The good news is when we make the choice to get back on the wagon that is success. 🙂 Instagram is an APP on smartphones that is all photos. It’s one of my favorites because it’s just all eye candy. 🙂 Lots of inspiration from color, projects, and awesome quotes. XOXO
