My Favorite things latest kit spoke volumes to me! Given my day job as a mental health therapist working with amazing humans combating many of life’s struggles, the You Are Not Alone card kit was the perfect pairing of products to make a card for friends or family who might be struggling. Sometimes it’s hard to think of the right words to say to someone. My Favorite Things took out the guess work with the You Are Not Alone sentiments making it easier to send a thoughtful sentiment in the mail!
Must See!
I was excited to try something new when creating this card. I love color and it’s probably the biggest fun factor when I create any project. I’m always excited to try new color combinations; although, I usually stick with one color for my stamped or die cut images. Recently I watched Jennifer McGuire and Jaycee Gasper on a Live YouTube together showcasing the use of layering ink color onto some Altenew die cuts. I knew right away I wanted to try this for myself! First, the video is a must watch. I loved it for many reasons, but mostly watching both of them layer different colors to create stunning and dynamic cards.
Let’s Create!

For today’s card I started using one of Taylored Expressions Masking Rectangles and ink blending a blue and green reactive inks for a background layer. Then of course I added some water for a splatter effect along with white pigment ink. I love how this creates a unique background every time.
Next, using a White cardstock, I die cut many flowers from the Show of Support die set. Using my Altenew Ultra Sticky Mat Grid, I placed all the die cuts down so the die cuts would stay in place when ink blending. Next, using many of My Favorite Things inks, I began to ink blend starting with Poppin’ Pink ink, followed by Lemon Drop and a smidge of Orange Zest. I loved how this made the floral die cuts pop with color. I did the same thing with the leaves this time using Limelight ink first, followed by Tropical Teal. At any time I wasn’t achieving the color I wanted, I continued to add ink until the desired look was complete. I love the vibrancy of each of the flowers and leaves.
The Details:
- Next, it was time to put the card together. I used a piece of Soft Stripes Patterned Paper cut to 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 and placed onto my cardstock base.
- Next, I added my florals and leaves using My Sweet Petunia Glue Press (GAME CHANGER MUST HAVE). To add dimension to the florals, some I glued two die cuts together creating depth to the flowers.
- Next I added an A2 Rectangle Frame surrounding the flowers. Using the You Are Not Alone stamp and Die Set, I heat embossed using White Embossing powder on Black Cardstock, then die cut the image and placed onto the bottom of the card. I love how the die cuts very close to each sentiment. Plus it’s a lovely font.
- Lastly, I added embellishments from Pink and Main for added interest to the card. If you are looking for different colors of embellishments, Pink & Main has a huge collection of colors to choose from.

Again, I love the You Are Not Alone stamp set which is perfect for any human struggling with life who needs a bit of encouragement. Shoot… we all need a little encouragement, right?!?
Thank you for hanging out with me today and I hope this card is a bright spot in your day. I highly encourage watching Jennifer’s Live with Jaycee, and try layering some color when ink blending. It’s a bit addicting and I have another card I’ll be sharing later this week. Meanwhile, have an amazing week!
