Creation Station -From the Garden

There is nothing better than Fresh Fruit from the garden, right?

The new Fresh Fruit stamp was excellent to use for a few thank you cards and a gift and even better for a new Creation Station blog hop.

Fresh Fruit

Garden, Fresh Fruit, Stampin' Up!

Russ and I don’t have a garden but we do have a little orchard we are pretty proud about.

Last year we planted 2 plum trees and 2 orange trees.  One of our orange tree’s didn’t make it this year due to a cold snap, but the other orange tree is flourishing.  We are so excited to see all of the oranges on this tree.

I told Russ I’m ready for a lemon tree and I’ll be happy as a clam.

My first thought when I started stamping with the Fresh Fruit set was Strawberry Jam.  Homemade!!  My mom use to make homemade fruit jams when I was little and they were SO yummy.  I’ve never ventured into making homemade jam, so the next best thing is my strawberry thank you card.

Tips & Tricks

  • This card has many layers, most of which is cardstock and designer paper.  The Fresh Fruit set has the coordinating Fruit Stand Designer Paper- it’s SO fun.
  • Burlap ribbon was added by folding in accordion style and then stapled onto the circle die cut to stay in place.
  • The new Enamel Dots are perfect to add a small embellishment to your projects. Typically when I place these on my cards I always use 3.  If you follow your finger to each Enamel Dot, you can see it will form a triangle.  This keeps the card elements well balanced.

Basket of Fruit

Garden, Fresh Fruit, Stampin' Up!

Another idea I couldn’t get off my brain was a basket of fruit.  Except I didn’t want to make a basket.

The next best thing was to create a smaller version of a basket by weaving a few pieces of Kraft cardstock.

Garden, Fresh Fruit, Stampin' Up!

Tips & Tricks

  • To create the basket, I cut 12 strips of Kraft cardstock at 1/4″ x 3-1/2″.
  • Lay all of the strips vertically by placing only a small amount of adhesive at the top.  Then weave each of the remaining strips and adhere to the card front.
  • Underneath the Kraft cardstock I used the stamp set Touches of Texture to create the splatter background.
  • The added touches include a Delicate White Doily, a small strip of the Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper and the Enamel Dots.

Sweet Thank You Gift

Garden, Fresh Fruit, Stampin' Up!

Lastly, I was at the ice cream shop the other day and this little shop has an entire wall of sweet candies that I can never resist.  The best part is the way they are displayed.  You can fill a mason jar with your desired candy.  I found the yummiest fruit slices and instantly thought about creating a thank you tag for the jar- perfect gift for a friend.

Creation Station- Botanical Garden

Creation Station- Botanical Garden

One of the gifts I was not granted from God was the art of having a garden.  Now, if it’s a botanical garden created with paper…. I’m all over it.

Botanical Gardens, Stampin' Up!, Creation Station

I was a little giddy to create ANYTHING today because I have a HUGE monkey off my back- taxes.

I have felt Russ breathing down my neck for weeks to get them done and I kept putting it off.  It took Russ taking Alexis to a gym meet in Atlanta, Brandon at my mom’s and ME by myself to get something done.

A quiet house except for all my animals was EXACTLY what I needed.  Love my family but a break was kinda nice.  Don’t tell them I said that.

Time to Create!

Once my taxes were done (8.5 hour process due to my amazing organization skills…. ) I was FREE!

This month the Creation Station design team decided to play with the Botanical Gardens suite.

<insert LARGE eyeballs>

Probably one of the most popular stamps/suites in the Stampin’ Up! catalog right now and one of the hardest for me to create with.  True story.  I love the flowers and the framelits.  It’s just “posing” them.  or bunching them.  Oh jeez… I don’t even know what you call it.  Putting the crazy flowers together.  Who knows what it is but I squeaked a project out and actually have a few more projects up my sleeve with this set.  <that’s amazing!>

I used a few of my favorite things for this card-

Botanical Gardens, Stampin' Up!, Creation Station

I’m noticing I’m drawn to the Daffodil Delight color right now.  It’s bright and beautiful for Spring.

I brought a hint of Melon Mambo into this card to keep it bright and happy.

Do you love that greeting?  This is from a fun stamp set called You’re So Lovely.  This stamp set goes with the You’re So Lovely Project Kit that I love SO much too.

Tips & Tricks

Here are a few tips when creating this card.

  • Sponge lightly around the flowers to make them stand out more using the same ink as the color of cardstock.  Sponging should be light and uniform and more on the edges of the flowers.
  • I use the flat surface of a sponge instead of the rounded portion of the sponge.  I know this is opposite of what you normally see, but I have found that I have more control with the sponge and the ink goes on smoother.  Just my opinion, but it always works.
  • The Botanical Builder Framelits are delicate and can best be used when paired with the Big Shot Die Brush and the Precision Base Plate.  The Die Brush is perfect to get the delicate flowers out from the framelits without ripping them.
  • When using your Precision Base Plate make sure to flip your plates after each use so they do not warp.
  • Splatter was created on the Typeset DSP using my Aqua Painter and Melon Mambo ink.  I also used it on each of the flowers using Daffodil Delight ink.

Create Joy When Crafting

Sometimes its the little things that bring me joy and when I was creating this card I loved how this black scallop border looked under the greeting banner.  Something so simple but it sure did bring me joy.  I used dimensional to create a little more dimension for the card.  Besides, life without dimensionals would be BLAH.

Botanical Gardens, Stampin' Up!, Creation Station

A few tiny embellishments were added to this card such as clear sequins and the fun It’s My Party Enamel Dots.

Hopefully this inspires you in two ways today.

First, I hope you enjoy the Botanical Gardens Suite, and second I hope it inspires you to create something bright and beautiful for spring. Try this happy color combo.  It’s bright and FUN!

How Does Your Garden Grow?

We might be in the dead of winter but we can still grow a garden with our paper products, right?

With the Flowering Fields stamp set and the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper we can create a beautiful paper garden and say a big thank you.

Garden, Flowering Fields stamp set, Stampin' Up!

While I’m not much of a gardner I do have a green thumb with real flowers.  I love all kinds of flowers and watching them grow during the spring and summer. I have to admit I’m pretty good at it in the beginning.  Then as the hot Florida sun gets more brutal, my flowers seem to wither and I struggle to keep them watered.

Here’s the good news…

The stamp set Flowering Fields will not wither -EVER.

Create It!

Creating this card was quick and easy.

  • Use a 1 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ strip of Wildflower Fields DSP onto the Whisper White cardstock base
  • Emboss the greeting using VersaMark and White Embossing Powder onto the 1″ x 4″ Cardstock Vellum.
  • Staple the Cardstock Vellum and 1″ x 4″ piece of Calypso Coral cardstock together.  Cut a V onto the end of each.
  • Stamp flowers onto Whisper White cardstock using Lost Lagoon Ink.  Die cut using the Lots of Labels Framelits.  Attach a Gold Foil Doily over the stamped flowers.  Slide the die cut label between the Cardstock Vellum and Calypso Coral and attach using Snail Adhesive.  Attach to the Whisper White cardstock using a dimensional.
  • Corner round punch each of the corners.
