TGIF #22- Gift Giving Made Easy

TGIF, Challenges, Stampin' Up!

It’s not even funny how LAZY I am when it comes to gift giving.  I’ve even succumbed to having my daughter take on the task of picking it out, wrapping and then my job is the card.

I’m not sure why this is so difficult for me except when you are the “master of procrastination” my mojo leaves and I flounder for an idea on what to make.  If you are reading this you probably are with me on the fact we love to make the pretty stuff…. BUT… it’s coming up with the idea of the “pretty!”  Right?

I might have a solution for all of us and it’s two fold.

First if you are not taking part of papercrafting challenges I highly suggest you do.  It only stretches your creativity to the max capacity and sometimes makes you step outside of your comfort zone.  Whether it be style, colors, project type, you will see a difference in growth with your papercrafting when you participate.  Being a designer for TGIF gives me the opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone and most definitely stretches my creativity.

TGIF 22 Remix

This weeks challenge is a Remix of all the challenges this month.  I lurrrrvvve this challenge.  This is when my brain gets some great exercise.  Below are the three previous challenges for the month. Take a few of them or all three and come up with a project.

Now for my gift giving solutions…

TGIFC, Watercolor Wings stamp set, Stampin' Up!

I though I knew the catalog like the back of my hand… NOPE.  I need to sit and go through the catalog myself with a fine tooth comb.  I thought for SURE the Tag a Bag Gift Boxes were long gone, retired.  Ha ha ha.  Oh no….they are quite available.  <seriously I need my head examined!>

This is the perfect solution for quick and simple gift giving AND you could look like the master crafter when giving the gift.  Little will they know it only took about 15 minutes to make it.  The boxes are FOOD safe and only $7 for 8 of them.  STEAL of a deal.  My most favorite part is the window sheet around the box so they can take a peek of the gift inside.  Unless you are me and hide it way at the bottom and put enough fluff they will think nothing is in it.

Tips & Tricks

The decorating part is fast, fun and simple.

I used our Envelope paper found on page 149.  I used the In Color Envelope paper and one of them is the Mint Macaron.  Take a 3 x 12″piece and wrap around the box.  Pinch the edges to make a better “scored” edge all the way around.  Next I cut a 2 1/2 x 12″ piece of the Typset DSP.  Using my Fringe Scissors (on SALE until Monday night 11:59pm) and fringed one end.  Gently wrap around the box, pinching edges like the previous and adhere to the box.

I wrapped a piece of Strawberry Slush Dotted Lace ribbon and tied it in a knot.  I secured a small Tea Lace Doily inside just for added fluff.

Lastly, the tag.  I used the most popular stamp set in the entire catalog- Watercolor Wings.  Did you know it’s the most popular? I found out that tidbit at Founders.  Pretty fun.  Once I had the butterfly stamped I die cut the image using the Tags & Labels Framelits.  I attached this by bringing the ribbon ends straight through the hole on the tag and tied a knot.  Simple and easy.

Now I have a fun gift for a birthday -or- any occasion.

The Card!

The gift needed a card to go with it so I made it match and again, kept it simple.

Creative Color

Ray of Sunshine stamp set, Stampin' Up!
Do you ever get bogged down in your creative groove because you are color challenged?

This can be so frustrating for me.  I know what I want to create but sometimes I’m not sure what color combo’s to use.  Even better when I have a specific color I want to use but not sure what colors to add to it.

And even better than that… the colors don’t match the theme I’m wanting to use.  Regardless, color can be TRICKY.

One of my favorite go-to places on the BIG web is a color inspiration board on Pinterest.  I created this awhile ago and each time I see a color combination that strikes my fancy I pin away.  You can see it HERE.

For today’s card inspiration I really wanted to use Soft Sky for my main color.  Here are a few Color Combo’s I found to start the wheels turning.

Ray of Sunshine stamp set, Stampin' Up! Here are a few color combinations that caught my eye when creating this card.  I loved the purple hues.

Color Combinations Color Combinations Color Combinations Once I chose the Soft Sky and Wisteria Wonder  color combination the third color was a breeze.  Neutrals go with anything so I chose to go with a splash of Crumb Cake by adding a button.  I love this creative color combination.

If you look closely you can see how the vellum banner really softens the purple hues quite a bit.  Makes it very soft looking.

Ray of Sunshine stamp set, Stampin' Up! Challenge yourself to use this color combination today. Create a card and SHARE!! Leave a comment on your favorite color combination to use.
