Spring Break Staycation
We are in full swing of a Spring break staycation and it’s been GLORIOUS.
This year we decided to just chill out at the house and REST. Most days in our life we feel like we are riding on a constant hamster wheel and instead of it slowing down, it revs up.
With the ending of semester exams and projects due I could tell my kids were DONE. I can usually tell when the attitudes change, they go to bed earlier than normal or they just look worn out.
Stress is a BEAST!
This past Friday Brandon had complained of canker sores in his mouth. Because he has braces this has been something normal, but this time they were under his tongue. By Sunday he was really hurting and when I looked in his mouth I couldn’t believe what I was seeing.
Under his tongue he had even more sores and he was flat miserable. I put my nurse cap on and off to the Urgent Care again. We’ve been frequent flyers there lately. They gave Brandon some Magic Mouthwash which is quite magical and the doctor asked Brandon if he was stressed. When Brandon told him how many things he had going on at school the Dr looked at me and told me this was STRESS related.
I couldn’t help but meditate on the fact my 14 year old was so stressed and yet I didn’t really see it. I could see he was tired but 14 and this stressed? How does that happen and how come I didn’t see it?
Obviously this prompted a little action on my part on how to destress, and I could only chuckle at myself while giving this advice. Like I know how to relieve stress? Ha. That’s funny right there.
Rest is Good!
I’m not talking sleeping either. By rest I mean no set plans. Sitting together. All this busy stuff prompted the Van Deep in Troubles to lay low this week and rest our brains and bodies. It was also a perfect time to get a few business items taken care of for the kids. Replenishing socks and undies were in order. Funny how we need a break from the realities of life to stock up on underwear.
Here is a little fun I had at the beach with Alexis.
Creativity is Good Too!
I have managed to get into my stamp room too. Not as much as I would like, but I’ll take the little time I’ve had.
I made a really fun project I’ll be sharing soon for the Artisan Design Team and then decided I needed a few simplistic cards. Its easy on my brain…
I love the Happy Happenings stamp set. It’s PERFECT for fun greetings.
I used the Bohemian Designer Series Paper with a few sequins from one of my Project Life kits. I love using accessories from the Project Life kits for cards and especially the sequins.
I love the color combination with this card. Of course I do have a love affair with Bermuda Bay.
This is definitely a quick and simple card but perfect for a crafter who needed a brain break. Ha ha.
