Goodbye Open Sea

Goodbye Open Sea

Open Sea has been a well loved stamp set for a long time.  It’s always been my go-to stamp set for a great man card.

Over the years we’ve brought in other great masculine stamp sets, but because my love for the ocean and sea, this set was always top of the list.

Creating Masculine Cards

If you are in need of a great stamp set for creating masculine cards, The Open Sea has great options.

The first thing I loved about this set was the script image.  This gave me more options to use this image for other types of cards and it was a great image for adding texture.

Create It!

  1. Adhere a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4 x 5-1/4 to the Whisper White Thick cardstock base 4-1/4 x 11 using dimensionals.
  2. Adhere a piece of Early Espresso cardstock 3-5/8 x 4-5/8 to the Whisper White cardstock.
  3. Adhere a piece of Vellum Cardstock 3-1/2 x 4-1/2 to a piece of Typeset DSP 3-1/2 x 4-1/2 using Snail Adhesive. Adhere this to the Early Espresso cardstock using dimensionals.  Adhere onto Whisper White cardfront.
  4. Stamp script image using Early Espresso ink onto Sahara Sand cardstock 2-1/2 x 3-1/2. Adhere over Vellum using Snail adhesive.
  5. Stamp Globe using Whisper White Craft ink onto Sahara Sand cardstock scrap.  Emboss using White Embossing Powder and heat with Heat Tool.  Punch image out using 2″ Circle Punch.
  6. Die cut a piece of Vellum and Typeset Designer Series Paper using the Lots of Labels Die cuts. Note the Typeset Label Die Cut is smaller than the Vellum.  Emboss the Happy Birthday image from the Rose Wonder stamp set using Early Espresso ink and Clear Embossing Powder.  Adhere onto cardfront.
  7. Wrap twine (separate a piece of twine from Jute Ribbon) behind Globe image and secure with a glue dot.  Adhere Globe image to cardfront using dimensionals.
  8. Adhere Neutral Candy Dots to the cardfront.
  9. Enjoy!

Retiring Products

This card is filled with many of my favorite products that are on the retiring list.  If you fall in love with it, make sure you get the items quickly.  Here are a few:

  • Neutral Candy Dots
  • Jute Ribbon
  • The Open Sea stamp set
  • Typeset Designer Series Paper

The one product I will miss the VERY most from this card is the Typeset Designer Series Paper.  This paper has been a staple in my stamp room like flour and sugar are in your kitchen.  It was a must have.  I’m not sure how if I can part with hit.

You can see all the products used in the clickable links below.

Masculine cards are not easy for me to create.  My biggest hiccup is keeping anything foo foo off of it.  I was quite surprised when I managed to pull it off with this stamp set.  I love the neutral color combination too.  What do you think?

I hope this inspires you to use this set if you own it.  It’s definitely one that will be missed in my stamp room.

Fancy Friday Blog Hop- Dude Cards!

Fancy Friday Blog Hop- Dude Cards!

Fancy Friday Blog Hop
I think it’s safe to say that I’ve given the Dude Cards a run for my own money this week.  Especially since it’s taken ME way out of my normal comfort zone of frilly pretty stuff.

Today I was lucky enough to partner with a few Artisans from Stampin’ Up! and share with  you even more Dude cards.  How EXCITING is that??? You will find the blog hop links at the bottom of this post.

Let’s get the party started.  Some of the favorite men in my life are military.  It’s time they hear how much I adore them.

For Your Country stamp set, Stampin' Up!

Again, I’m keeping things on the simple side.  Not too flashy, but still manly.

If you have military friends or family the For Your Country stamp set is totally worth having on hand.  It’s a super set to use for sending cards to our amazing troops.

I paired my card with the World Map background stamp and used the Rock n Roll technique for the background.

Love how the Hexagon punch spotlights on pieces of the map.  Again, an easy touch.

When I was creating this card last night I became a little emotional.  Luckily it was just me still up and I could have my moment.  It just made me think how grateful I am for our Military Men and Women who serve our country.  It doesn’t have to be a holiday to let them know.  We should tell them ALL the time.

For Your Country stamp set, Stampin' Up!

Right before we left Virginia Russ and I were out for dinner one night when smack dab in the middle of our dinner conversation he got up and walked over to an elderly man.  I sat there not knowing what in the world he was doing. He had gotten up to thank a World War 11 Veteran that was sitting adjacent to us.  I remember the smile on the mans face and it will be etched in my memory forever.  A soldier thanking a soldier.  Coolest thing ever.  Truly!!

For Your Country stamp set, Stampin' Up!

Again, I kept these VERY simple.  Just a few layers.  Nothing cray cray, but it gets the point across.  I love that simple thank you greeting in the For Your Country stamp set.  That’s just IT.  A simple thank you will carry these fine men and woman a long way.

Now it’s time to see what these artisans created for the M.A.N! I didn’t feel any pressure about what I was creating until just now.  These are also fine women who are the craftiest Kates I know.  Funny thing is your going to visit Mercedes blog and she has a DUDE (her husband) that stamps.  <grin> I love that!

NEXT

I’m off to another gymnastics meet.  This time we are traveling 6 hours to Georgia.  I’m thankful my mama rides with me.  She keeps us entertained.  Wish Lexi luck and I’ll share how she does.  It’s going to be a great girls weekend.
