Giggle Greetings- I Bet You Didn’t Know This!

Giggle Greetings

Giggle… It’s Friday!  Are you ready???

It’s a great day to reveal the latest TGIF Challenge and a little fact about Kimberly you might not have known!

Don’t worry, it goes along with our TGIF theme today.

It’s ALL about Pets!

This is a fact…

I am a lover of all of animals and I’ve had animals in my home all my life.  I’ve never been pet free.

The real fact is my family is a HUGE animal lover and we have a ZOO.

Oh yes.

I’m not sure how this all happened.  The collection of animals that is.

Currently we have two rescue dogs that I am over the moon about.  Brin and Tanner are my loves.  I think I love them so much right now because they don’t talk back like the other crazies in my house do.

We also have a cat.  Silver is now 18 years old and holding on strong.  He’s an old man.  He loves to sleep and is not happy with the 2 beastly dogs that interrupt his sleep and eat his food.

Then the kids have 4 Guinea Pigs.  Oh help me.  The real question is HOW did that happen? Well, we gained 2 recently that my parents had.  They didn’t want to keep them anymore and I couldn’t let them go to another home.  Yes. I am a BIG sucker.

Then we have a 150 gallon salt water fish tank.  This was a new hobby Russ had taken on prior to his stroke. Then it became my fish tank during his recovery.  It’s 90% back to Russ again except for the tank cleaning which is a huge undertaking.  All that said, it’s a beautiful tank and I love our fish and sea creatures.  They are the most relaxing thing in our home besides the doggie love.

The Challenge

It dawned on me getting ready for this challenge that I do not have many “pet” stamps.  Yikes.  This pet lover needs a few more and I hope Stampin’ Up! can give us a few more dogs and cats at least.  I wouldn’t mind some cute fish and farm animals too.

Here is what I came up with though…

I couldn’t help but use the Giggle Greetings stamp set considering it tickled my funny bone.  The greeting cracks me up.  Although a hair ball does not crack me up… there is truth to the greetings in relation to birthdays, right?

Tips & Tricks

I stamped this card using the Archival Basic Black ink and then once I let it dry for a second or two I used a Blender Pen to color the kitty.  The base of the kitty was colored using Smoky Slate ink, and then I went back using Basic Gray ink around a few areas of the kitty to darken it a bit.  Mostly around the tale, eye lids and a bit of the head and body on the right side.

When using a Blender Pen on Whisper White cardstock, be sure not to go over the colored area too much or you will create a nice paper booger.  Paper boogers are the peeling of the cardstock when it gets too wet.  It’s not pretty, and you will not like the look.

One way to help alleviate this from occurring is to let the first ink that you color dry well.  Then come back over with your darker ink, but only add very few strokes of the ink.  The more strokes, the more apt the paper boogers will occur.

The background was created using the Striped Scallop Thinlits Die using the Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper.  Use the Fine-Tip Glue Pen for the precise amount of glue on this very fine scallop.

I added a few pieces of ribbon directly under the cat image and secured it with the Handheld Stapler.  I love securing ribbon with this tool.  It’s the easiest and the best way to keep it in place.  It’s not going anywhere!

You can see from this picture above, that although there are a few layers of embellishments, this card still remains pretty “flat” despite the ribbon.

So, I let the cat out of the bag…. (snicker)

I told you how many animals I have and how much I love them.  What about you? Are you an animal lover or not? Do you have a house full of pets? I would love to hear what you have.  Tell me about your fur babies!

  1. Very cute card 🙂 We have a 5 year old dog (Boxer) named Tyson who is the most awesome dog. He is such a good boy and an 8 year old cat named Matrix. We’ve had 2 parakeets, one lived for 13 years and the other one lived for 11 years, a hamster which died within 2 weeks, so I’m guessing it was already sick, two turtles, one died and we gave the other one to a friend and it ended up passing a short time after. My husband says, after the dog and cat pass (sorry, don’t even want to think about that) that will be it for pets for us. You know how it goes, everyone wants pets and thinks aw they are so cute and believe me, I love them, but I end up doing all the work, you know, cleaning the litter box and the dog’s poop. LOL You know, it’s not all about cuddling and playing with them, there is work involved too.

  2. Love animals and love your card. That cat does make me giggle every time I see it. I am a dog lover and was never allowed animals when I was a kid. I didn’t have animals too much after I moved out on my own – but now have a wonderful rescue dog. She is a Norfolk Terrier and she is really calm and patient – until she hears something outside, then she barks like crazy! We got her when she was 1, and have had her for 3 years. She still looks like a puppy. I love to spoil her and I think she’s my third baby!
