Be a Ray of Sunshine

Ray of Sunshine

I couldn’t help it.  I pulled out the Ray of Sunshine stamp set again and needed another round of playtime.

Ray of Sunshine, Stampin' Up!

While I love the sun, especially this big ole sun… I love that little banner at the top of the card.

It’s just a few layers but these are the little things that make me happy as can be.

Ray of Sunshine, Stampin' Up!

They are all held together with a simple staple.

Ray of Sunshine, Stampin' Up!

I’m pretty sure this greeting could be one of my all time favorites.  I used a Sponge Dauber around the circle punch to brighten it just a bit more.

Do you own Stampin’ Up!’s new Archival Basic Black ink? It’s one of my favorites.  The ink is excellent, no smudging and it’s a crisp image all the time.  Especially on our Whisper White cardstock.

One of the retiring In Colors that I will miss greatly is the Tangelo Twist ink.  It’s a cross between our Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Twist.  Sigh… I really love this color.

I hope your Monday is going fantabulous.  We are counting the days before the trip.  Brandon is walking on the clouds.  He has truly been our trip guide giving us extensive tips that he’s read on every cruise critic site he can read.  Alexis is only worried about the packing process.  How many shoes can she possibly fit into her suitcase??

As for me, I’m in typically mama mode.

  • Where do I begin?
  • How can my list be this long?
  • I’m 100% sure I will not get it all done.
  • Why do we have SO much scheduled this week?
  • I need a vacation!

This week I am going to try and squeeze in everything possible that needs to be done without hitting the exhaustion stage.  This includes the 27 swaps that I have procrastinated until NOW.  Why do I do this?  The pressure is ON!

Wish me luck!

Say Goodbye Ray of Sunshine

Say Goodbye Ray of Sunshine

Sunshine is what ya’ll bring to my life.

As I read many of your comments and emails from yesterday’s post I sit and smile because you truly bring a ray of sunshine to my life.  I can’t thank you enough for 1. reading my mayhem, and 2. being so kind!  I’m blessed and grateful.

Ray of Sunshine

Stampin’ Up!’s Ray of Sunshine stamp set has been one of my favorites since it arrived and I’m sad to see this set go.  Living in the sunshine state I’ve found many uses for this stamp set.  Plus, who doesn’t like a little sunshine sent to them in the mail?

You know how much I love fonts and this set stood out from the beginning because of the fonts used in this set.  They are different and have a little sassiness to them.  I love that.

Create It!

Sunshine, Ray of Sunshine, Stampin' Up!

Creating this card is not hard at all.  There are a few layers and some created with ink.

  1. Fold a piece of Whisper White Cardstock in half. (4-1/4 x 11). Tip: I use Whisper White Thick cardstock for all of my card bases.  Love how sturdy this cardstock is.
  2. Adhere a piece of Basic Black cardstock to the card base using Fast Fuse.  Adhere a piece of Whisper White cardstock (4 x 5-1/4″) to the Basic Black cardstock using dimensionals.
  3. Die cut a piece of Hello Honey cardstock (4 x 4-1/4″) using the Sunburst Thinlits Die.  Adhere this over the Whisper White cardstock using Fast Fuse adhesive.
  4. Die cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock using the Lots of Labels Framelits (2-1/2 x 4-1/8).  Punch a piece of scrap cardstock using a 2″ Circle punch.  Lay this piece down onto the Whisper White die cut to use as a template to create the sun rays.  Using Tangelo Twist ink (retiring) stamp the largest sun ray image around the template.  Using Hello Honey ink, stamp the smallest sun ray in between the large sun ray.  Remove template.
  5. Punch a 2″ Circle from Tangelo Twist cardstock.  Stamp the circle image using Hello Honey ink onto a scrap piece of Hello Honey cardstock.  Stamp the face into the center using Basic Black. Punch image out using a 1-3/4″ Circle Punch.  Adhere over the Tangelo Twist circle punch using dimensionals.  Poke holes around the Tangelo Twist circle punch using a Paper Piercing Tool.  Attach this piece over the sun rays.
  6. Splatter Tangelo Twist ink over image using an Aqua Painter.
  7. Stamp Happy Birthday Sunshine onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock using Basic Black ink.  Trim very close to each of the words.  Attach to the label die cut.  Attach a small piece of a Tea Lace Doily to the back left side of the label die cut.  Swirl Gold Thread behind the label die cut and attach to the card front using dimensionals.
  8. Enjoy!

I love to hear from you if you re-create this or use this stamp set.  Share with me what you are creating.  If anything, I hope this helps to inspire you to bring a ray of sunshine in someones life.  Lord knows we can all use it.

Creating My Own Sunshine

Creating My Own Sunshine

Sunshine on a cloudy day…

As paper crafters we are so lucky that even on the gloomiest days we can create sunshine.  Do you agree?

Sunshine, Sunburst Thinlits Die, Hello

Creating Your Own Sunshine!

Now we can create our own sunshine with the Sunburst Thinlits Die.  That’s exactly how I created this card today with a little help from the FREE stamp set Hello from the Sale-a-Bration catalog.

I don’t know about you but every time I use the Hello Stamp set I break out into Adele’s new song…. HELLO… It’s Me…

Sunshine, Sunburst Thinlits Die, Hello

Tips & Tricks

  • There are lots of little pieces created to finish this card such as only using half of the Burlap ribbon.  I simply cut down the middle and then removed the stray pieces.
  • I used a tiny piece of a Tea Lace Doily and placed it directly under the label die cut.
  • The banner was created by wrapping it around the label die cut.
  • I love the look of the Perfectly Artistic DSP. This marbled look is VERY popular.  This is a FREE Designer Paper from the Sale-a-Bration catalog #141021

Sunshine, Sunburst Thinlits Die, Hello

The sequins come from the Bright Sequin Assortment.  Love that this coordinates with the other pieces.

The It’s My Party Enamel Dots add the perfect addition for an embellishment to your card and easy to mail.

Sunshine, Sunburst Thinlits Die, Hello

While the sun might not be shining where you are, it’s okay.  We can create our own sunshine using Stampin’ Up!’s great products.  Imagine the projects you can make using the Sunburst Thinlit Die.  This makes creating EASY especially when we use to make cards like this by hand cutting.  EEK.

TGIF- It’s a Sketch!

TGIF- It’s a Sketch!

TGIF, Challenges, Stampin' Up!

TGIFC16, Sketch Challenge

Oh boy!  It’s Friday and it’s time for a sketch!! Remember, we would love for YOU to take part in these challenges.  We have great designers and participants.  You will DEFINITELY be inspired.

This week I tried something a little different.

I decided to try my hands at the Starburst technique since I thought it was perfect-o for this sketch.  First, I love this sketch because I love love love the SUNSHINE.  Don’t you? Even though it still so dang hot here I love the heat.

TGIF16, Sunshine, I think You're Great stamp set

A couple things about this card when I was designing.  When I used the Gold Designer Vellum it was blending too much into the Whisper White cardstock.  To make this pop a little more I used a ruler and my Project Life Journaling Pens to create a straight line along side the edge of the vellum.  As you can see it wasn’t perfect but I’m totally okay with that.

The cloud with the “HI” inside it comes from the I Think You’re Great stamp set.  I think this set is perfect for anyone because who doesn’t like to be told they’re GREAT once in awhile?  I will definitely use for my kiddos.

I think You're Great stamp set, TGIFC16, Stampin' Up!

Okay! It’s YOUR turn.  I can’t wait to see how you interpret this sketch.  See what the other TGIF designers have created HERE.

Have a GREAT day and stamp something pretty!!

XOXOXOXO
