Impressive Jewel Tones

Impressive Jewel Tones

Jewel Tones are one of my favorite color tones to work with.  These bright beautiful colors were a perfect fit with the Moroccan Suite.

Big News…  time for another inspiring  Artisan Blog Hop.

Today you will be inspired by a few amazing products-Moroccan Suite as well as the Thoughtful Banners Bundle.

Gathering the Colors Together

Fall, Stampin' Up!, Moroccan Suite

Fall, Stampin' Up!, Moroccan Suite

The colors in the Moroccan Designer Series Paper provided the perfect starting point to begin creating.

The color tones in the paper are fresh and instantly I think of a fall, although it’s definitely not limited to fall.

One of the colors I seem to love pairing together is Emerald Envy and Bermuda Bay.  When I add a splash of color such as Delightful Dijon and Early Espresso I’m instantly in LOVE.

You will see this in both of today’s cards.

Create a Background

Fall, Stampin' Up!, Moroccan Suite

Using the large border image in the Moroccan Nights stamp set created a perfect background.  I alternated the images by stamping a full on ink, and then immediately stamped again.   This is called generation stamping.

Fall, Stampin' Up!, Moroccan Suite

Tricks & Tips

  • The greetings were created using the Thoughtful Banner stamp set and the Classic Label Punch.
  • Add a strip of the Moroccan Designer Series Paper to add a bit of contrast to the card.
  • Stamp the large medallion image onto Very Vanilla cardstock, die cut using the Layering Circles Framelits, layer with Early Espresso scallop circle.
  •  Ribbon and Enamel Dots provide the perfect embellishment for any project.  Stampin’ Up! has a wide variety of coordinating  colors for each of these products.
  • Use the Gold Wink of Stella pen to add splatter.  Simply tap with your bone folder to create the splatter.

Shadow Stamping – Another Way

Fall, Stampin' Up!, Moroccan Suite

The last Artisan Blog Hop I shared a fun technique called Shadow stamping. This technique looks beautiful on color cardstock, but what about Very Vanilla or Whisper White.

In order to get the opposite look for this card,  stamp the Medallion using Bermuda Bay ink onto the Very Vanilla cardstock, then with the help of the Stamp-a-ma-jig  stamp over the same image using Whisper White craft ink.

Note how this created a softer tone of the Bermuda Bay ink and a unique look.

Fall, Stampin' Up!, Moroccan Suite

More Tips & Tricks

  • Tap the Gold Wink of Stella for the addition of  splatter over the Medallion image. Note how this pulls more of the gold (a beautiful jewel tone) tones from the Fabulous Foil Designer Acetate– on sale until September 14th 11:59.
  • Another great use for Washi Tape is to hold your Acetate in place on your project.
  • Most noteworthy for this card is adding the perfect accent. Try die cutting two Layering Squares Framelits together to create a frame. Off set the frame to add visual interest.

Flourishing Phrases- Artisan Blog Hop

Flourishing Phrases- Artisan Blog Hop

This week the Artisans are sharing projects using a few different sets and one of them is Flourishing Phrases.

Flourishing Phrases was my top pick with the timeless greetings to choose from.

Backgrounds Using a Greeting

Artisan Blog Hop, Flourishing Phrases, Stampin' Up!

The Flourishing Phrases has a beautiful selection of greetings inside of this set.  Have you ever considered using one of the greetings as part of your background?

For this card I simply stamped the Thank You greetings along the entire left side of the Whisper White cardstock using Sahara Sand ink.  I love how this gave the card more interest.

Artisan Blog Hop, Flourishing Phrases, Stampin' Up!

The flower was a simple addition using the Flourish Thinlits.  The florals within this collection are so intricate and delicate looking.

Artisan Blog Hop, Flourishing Phrases, Stampin' Up!

I used the Fine Tip Glue Pen to attach the flowers and leaves to this card.  The fine tip on this glue makes attaching intricate die cuts a cinch.

I love the delicate touch this card has and the color combination jumped out at me.  Bermuda Bay paired with the Cucumber Crush has to be one of my favorites.  It’s a clean look and even more bold when you add Basic Black.

Creating a Shadow Image

My favorite image in the Flourishing Phrases stamp set is the large flower.

Instantly I thought of an old technique that would be fun to use with this large image.

Artisan Blog Hop, Flourishing Phrases, Stampin' Up!

Create It!

  • Stamp the large flower onto Crumb Cake cardstock using Whisper White Craft ink.  Let dry or use a heat tool to facilitate the drying.
  • Stamp the large flower again over the Whisper White flower using Watermelon Wonder ink and slightly offsetting the image. By offsetting the image, the Whisper White gives the illusion of a shadow.
  • This technique can be used with any stamp set, but tends to look the best using a large solid stamp.
  • According fold the 3/4″ music note strip of designer series paper from the This Christmas collection.  Attach to the 1″ x 4″ strip of Watermelon Wonder cardstock.  Attach 2 small pieces of a Delicate White Doily and attach to the Crumb Cake cardstock.

Artisan Blog Hop, Flourishing Phrases, Stampin' Up!

  • Stamp the greeting onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock.  Die cut using the Layering Circles Framelits.  Wrap and attach a piece of Linen Thread to the underside of the die cut circle, attach to the card front.
  • Layer the Crumb Cake cardstock onto a piece of Watermelon Wonder cardstock and then onto a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock measuring 4-1/4″ x 11″.
  • Attach a few sequins around the stamped flowers using a Fine Tip Glue Pen.

PS- I survived my trip to the dentist.  It wasn’t bad at all. In fact I had worked myself up into such a tizzy that I felt ill after the procedure over my anxiety and not the actual procedure.  I’m a HOT mess.  No lie.

Here’s a Quick Way to Add Texture

Texture Using Thinlits

Is it any surprise that when we think of adding texture to a project we typically think embellishments?

This isn’t the case at all.

In fact you probably have the biggest resource of texture laden products sitting next to you- Stampin’ Up! Idea Book & Catalog.

Today not only do I have a blog hop by the magnificent Artisan designers I’m sharing, I’m also going to show you a way to add texture to a card that’s brilliant using a Thinlits die.

Flourishing Phrases & Coordinating Thinlits

Normally when I think of the word texture I think of do-dads that I can add to my card so that when I touch it I can feel bumpy or something.  That something could be a lot of things such as:

  • buttons
  • Enamel Dots
  • Ribbon

Obviously there are many ways to add texture to a project, but today I was thinking about adding texture that is subtle.  Something more flat in nature when applied to paper and one that will go through the postal system a little easier.

Flourish Thinlits

Texture, Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team

This week the Artisan team is focusing on the coordinating products Flourishing Phrases and Flourish Thinlits.

TWO fantastic products that can be bundled together to create texture filled projects.

I fell in love with the stamp set, but it was the Flourish Thinlits that tipped my love button all the way to the top.  This is a product that can add texture to a card in a way that is so subtle, and so beautiful.

Texture, Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team

By die cutting the thinlits in the same color as the card base, this intricate die cut added extreme interest to the card without adding a lot of bulk.

One thing I hear from paper crafters is this:

“Kimberly, I love all of the do-dads, but I’m not spending a dollar to mail my card filled with do-dads.”

Man, do I understand that statement.  Although the little voice inside my head says the same thing, I still send them.  Here is an alternative that you will not only love but I encourage you to try with other framelits/thinlits besides the Flourish Thinlits.

Texture, Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team

I decided to create 5 cards using the 2015-2016 In Colors along with the Flourishing Phrases stamp set and one image from the Touches of Texture stamp set.

The large flourish in the coordinating Thinlits was the perfect size to use for the background.  I used Whisper White, the same as the card base.  Next to the large flourish I used the large splatter image from Touches of Texture to add in color.

The Flourishing Phrases stamp set has all of the greetings you can imagine.

Texture, Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team

The coordinating of products could not be any easier for this project.  Simple pieces such as the In Color Doilies, ribbon and Designer series paper created ease when designing this project.

Each card is the same except for the color.

Tips & Tricks

Texture, Stampin' Up! Artisan Design Team

A couple of tips & tricks when creating this project…

  • The Big Shot Die Brush is amazing when working with intricate dies.  HOWEVER, if you look closely at my cards above, you will see that not every intricate piece did I remove.  I loved how beautiful this looked with some of the small pieces still stuck inside the die cut.  It only added more interest.
  • Use a Glue-Pen when attaching intricate die cuts. It dries quickly and you can reach very intricate pieces with it’s very fine tip.
  • The designer paper pattern you see on each of the cards comes from the 2015-2017 In Color 12 x 12 Envelope Paper.  Gorgeous and thinner.

Touches of Texture!

Just the title had me squeal for joy at first glimpse of this stamp set.

Let’s Create

I couldn’t wait to put this stamp set, Touches of Texture to good use and play.

I wanted to bring a few products and ideas together so I started this card with a completely different design than normal.

Touches of Texture, Stampin' Up!

Tips & Tricks

Touches of Texture, Stampin' Up!

Typically, I start every single card with a 4-1/4″ x 11 card base.  Not today!

My hope is today’s card  will inspire you to try something completely different and create away.

Here are a few instructions to help you create today’s card.

  • The base of the card is 4-1/4″ x 5-1/2″ Whisper White cardstock. Attach a 1″ x 5-1/2″ piece of Moroccan Designer Seriers Paper to the right edge of the card base.
  • Attach a piece of Whisper White cardstock (3-3/4″ x 11-1/4″, scored at 5-1/2″) to the card base using dimensionals to create the card. When attaching this piece, make sure to leave a 1/4″ edge so you can see the Designer Series Paper.

Touches of Texture, Stampin' Up!

  • Attach a new piece of Moroccan Designer Series Paper (3″ x 4-3/4″) at a slight angle over the new card front so that the left edge meets the edge of the card base.

  • Now its time to embellish.  Cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock to  3-3/4″ x 5-1/2″.  On the right side stamp the large splatter image using Delightful Dijon ink.  At the bottom stamp the long splatter image using Bermuda Bay ink.  Stamp the flower images over the previous image using Early Espresso ink.
  • Attach Moroccan Designer Washi Tape to the right edge of the cardstock.  Place a 1/4 piece of White Delicate Doily, 1/4″ x 3″ strip of Moroccan Designer Series Paper, and a wrapped piece of Linen Thread over the flower image.  Staple in place using a hand held stapler.
  • Stamp a greeting onto Bermuda Bay cardstock.  My greeting was from the Suite Sayings stamp set.  Die Cut image using the Tags & Labels Framelits.  Attach getting near Designer Paper strip.
  • Attach the card front to the card using Dimensionals.  Place Bermuda Bay Enamel Shapes to the card.
  • Enjoy!

Touches of Texture, Stampin' Up!

While I’m sure this design is not unique, it definitely is a new one for me to try.  I love the layers and the designer paper that peeks out each side as well as the color combination.

Christmas in July

Christmas in July

Christmas? One of my favorite holidays… but not in July.

Right now I’m thinking about beach, sun, pool…. and ice cold drinks.  It’s HOT here in the Florida Panhandle.

BUT… It’s never to late to chat about Christmas projects.  If we can get a head start then we won’t be scrambling as it get’s closer.  I could only WISH that I would be ahead of the game, but let’s be serious- this is Kimberly.  She’s never ahead and always scrambling.

Artisans Christmas

Today the Artisans are sharing a ton of Christmas LOVE. I hope you are ready.  Grab your drink of choice and let’s get started.

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

Peace This Christmas

I couldn’t think of anything better we need at Christmas- PEACE!  The Peace This Christmas stamp set has beautiful artwork, greetings and a few border images that will be fun to use on projects.

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

The Christmas Suite on page 26 of the Idea Book & Catalog showcases all of the great products that coordinates with this stamp set.  The Christmas Specialty Designer Series Paper is one of my favorites.

This year the music paper has no words, which opens up the options for you to use besides a Christmas project.

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

The focal area of my card was created using the Designer Paper. Time permitted and I decided to fussy cut the intricate details.  The greeting comes from the stamp set Oh, What Fun.  A fun stamp set perfect for creating tags, cards or to use on gift packaging.

Gift Tags or Sweet 3 x 3 Cards

They are the same card, 3 different colors pulled from the Christmas Specialty paper– Cherry Cobbler, Garden Green and Early Espresso.

The Details

  • Delicate White Doilies at the bottom of the scallop add to the delicate touch of this card.
  • Metallic Enamel Shapes as well as the Regal Enamel Shapes add the perfect embellishment on this little project.
  • A new favorite you will find is the 1/4″ Natural Trim with a speck of gold running through it.  Fine details, yet so fun.
  • Layering Squares Framelits fit the stamp greeting perfectly and the tiny scallops around the edge added to the detail.

Tiny Gift Packaging

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

The Clear Tiny Treat Boxes will be the perfect party favor or an awesome little treat.  Either way you use it, the clear packaging makes it fun and colorful depending on the inside.

Christmas, Artisan, Stampin' Up!

Wrapped up inside my little treat box holds the perfect little holiday Glamper ornament.  If you heard a squeal, it was me.  Cute + Glamper = Happiness.

The outside belly band was wrapped with the music pattern from This Christmas Specialty Paper.  The tiny berry die cut was cut using the Flourish Thinlits.
