Spring Break Treasure Hunting

I told you I would be back with a few fun treasures that we found over the last week.  My Prince is obsessed with treasure hunting right now.  I call this the Denise phenomenon.  "He" was not this crazy about treasure hunting or "picking" as he likes to call it until my bff Denise forwarded a few online auction and estate sale sites.  Since that day my sweet Prince has been pretty obsessed. Below you will see a few of our fun finds over the last few weeks.  I'm pretty excited that our piano room is almost complete.  The only thing it's missing is the Chandelier to be put up.  We have a small snag with the beautiful Chandelier we bought.  It's not a big deal and nothing the Prince can't handle but either way I'm being impatient.  We have to remember that when you deal with REALLY old finds that not everything is always going to be perfect.  LOL.

I'm REALLY excited how the framed pieces came out.  This was an idea I've had for a very long time.  All the frames except for the bottom left mirror are VERY old antiques.  Each has a story behind the find.  It makes it even more fun.  We will be restoring the Victorian Couch soon.  Believe it or not, the cushion portion of this couch is filled with Horse Hair.  Really old horse hair. LOL.  It kinda stinks.  The bottom carriage needs work because the fabric is very worn and old.  Russ wants to take the horse hair out and replace it.  We'll see.  I'm going to call a professional on this one.  The picture on the top right is a print from the 1820's.  I fell in love with how beautiful and peaceful the print was and the aged frame.  I squealed walking out the Antique Store on this one.  I also tripped and almost dropped the piece on the way out.  I wasn't squealing then.  LOL.

This past Saturday we took the kids to our first live Auction.  I cannot tell you how much fun we had and the kids were fascinated.  They couldn't believe the guy talking so fast. They lasted a good three hours and we were having so much fun.  We bought the metal Fruit Bowl advertisement piece at the auction.  Holy Cow. Who knew these things can be so expensive???  I was a little shocked.  I skipped out the door when I won this auction piece.  We had originally gone to the auction for a specific piece.  They had a very old  Phone Booth that we wanted.  It was a huge piece and even had the pay phone still inside it.  We had no clue where it would go in our house but we were on a mission.  Our mission ended when we were out bid.  The kids were so bummed and Alexis looked at Russ and said she wanted to go home.  The auction was not fun anymore.  🙂  It was probably best for Russ and I, again… WHERE was this huge thing going??

Here is a picture of the Piano with a few of the finds around it.  The shutter on the wall is not complete yet.  I have another shutter that is going on the wall and I'm using these to hold a few paper crafts and banners. 🙂

These fun lockers are holding a few of the piano rolls that my Prince has collected.  Again, just a few…

This piece holding the other many piano rolls was another favorite find.  We found this at an antique store.  I love that we can easily find the song we want. Believe it or not, we still have more rolls. Uh Huh.  Russ is on piano roll restriction.  No more until all of them have a house. 🙂

It's time for me to get back to work.  I have a special trip this weekend.  I'm taking a trip to see a few of my amazing downline in Michigan.  This is a trip that was supposed to happen when my Prince was away but I couldn't leave the kids.  I am thankful for the very patient downline that they are and I have some great things planned for my visit.  I can't wait to see them.  Time for me to finish a few little touches.

XOXOXO

How fun and I had to laugh when I read "a few" piano rolls…somehow, I knew the next photo would have stacks of them :).
Thanks for sharing and have a great time with your DL in Michigan.
