I feel like a genius!

First, I know I’m not a genius but I sure felt like one when I made this project.  If it’s been done before… don’t tell me.  I want to savor this feeling for a few more days. 🙂

I went a little over board this Mini Catalog season with the beautiful Felt Flurries.  Now believe me, I have used them.  I have applied them to cards, mini books, Canvas projects… the list goes on.  The other day I found some of these glass ornaments in my "stash" of stuff.  I wanted to make something pretty and was sitting on the floor and had an ah ha moment.  I think I scared Russ.  He was playing on my computer and I let out a big scream and he turned quickly to find this…

I was so super excited when that felt snowflake fit over that glass ball.  I made 6 of them super quick.  I just cut strips of designer paper and curled them on my paper piercer from my Crafters Tool Kit.  Then I dropped them in the ornament one by one.  I carefully put my felt snowflake on then the cap.  I loved using that beautiful Rope ribbon from the mini catalog.  Isn’t that the best stuff???  I would love to see this in the next catalog.  So many great things can be done with it. Last thing I applied was the great rub on’s that Stampin’ Up! carries.  This one is Season of Cheer.  WOW have I gotten a lot of use out of these Rub On’s.  I would say at least 70% of my craft show projects used these rub ons.

So, again… I am sure someone may have figured this idea out long ago… but I will continue to think I am a genius for just a few short days.

I have one more thing to share.  Some of you may have seen this project before.  I really love scrapbooking on the wall and have been teaching Altered Canvas for some time.  Last night I had my last canvas class for the season and I wanted to share with you.  These are super fun and easy.

Lots of fun products were used on this canvas.  I used the Big Felt Flurries, Designer Brads, Season of Cheer Rub On’s, and Old St. Nick Rub Ons.  I also used that gorgeous Chocolate Chip double stitched ribbon, Chipboard Snowflake and that fun Rope again.  If you want to see a tutorial on this, click HERE!

The most common question I get asked when making a canvas are the photos.  I highly recommend that you use photos printed from a professional place such as Wal Mart or Target.  Do not use a photo printed from your home printer as the Modge Podge will eat the ink and you will be left with a blank picture.  Probably NOT the end result you were looking for.

Well folks.  That is all I have to share tonight.  All the cleaning I did the other day really did me in.  I feel like all the dust bunnies I caught on Sunday have landed in my nose and head.  Ugh!

Have a GREAT Wednesday and thanks so much for taking a peek!

Your scrapbook page is beautiful as well. This would be something I would frame and hang on the wall for the Christmas seson. Nice Work!

  6. I was making a set of six of these super curnaments as a hostess gift and after the first one I thought I would get in touch with you to ask a question about the rolled DP. I used 1″ x 3″ strips and I think it may be too big. What size was your paper sti? Or perhaps becasue my glass bulbs are cubes rather thatn round?

  7. I absolutely love everything that you do – your style is so classy! I am in love with your altered canvas and am going to make some for my mother and mother-in-law with pictures of my daughter and I was wondering what color paints you use. Thanks!
